Title: Smokin' Memphis Blueİ

Wow...this was so good!!

Love the playlist, love the cast and the story was so superb. You have truly displayed true diversity as a writer!! I thought the scam Valerie had going was genius! The whole story, the scam.

I agree with Minx, this is a true display of the neo-noir genre. Set in a dark country instead of a slick city, but all the more terrifying. I don't know why but I was really reminded of "No Country for Old men" even the movie and this story are completely different!

I LOVED LOVED THE ENDING! Awesome! And potential for more aswell! Great job SPAC! Well done!!

Author's Response:

TY d_i, I really appreciate that.  SMB was a one shot...funny too because I once couldn't write for more than thousand words.  This idea came by way of MINX and I dug through a cd that I had in storage.  Just basically trying CD's to see if the crap was worth adding to my Flash...found this scrap and polished it up.  It was wrote in a creative writing class as a project.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Okay. I think I love you for using Tom Cruise, the Collateral edition. *squeals* I LOVE THAT MOVIE! He was badass for sure. And I loved this! Perfect one-shot! Loved the noir feel and the sections. Wink

Author's Response: Thanks madame z, for reading and feeling it. Tom/Jamie had some incredible chemistry in that. I was so hoping that I could pull it off in such a short piece.

Title: Smokin' Memphis Blueİ

A hard-boiled Noir delivered SPAC style. I bow to your clever prose and how you shook me up and hand me screaming "No shit!" at every word. You my dear are the real thing. I was just talking about wanting to study more on Noir and this here is what I was looking for. That clevery little story that gets you by the throat and has you second guessing at every turn.

What I liked:

Love the narrative by Rock n Roll - when I read that they were going to flip it on Blue I was like "Damn! I hope it ain't so" but she is a true Femme Fatale and smart to boot. She really did have all bases covered.

Love the description of Jackson Penitentary, I could see the cell block, smell the prison funk...felt like I was down on the bunk listen to the tale. Love the way you got me in and out of these scenes so fluidly.

What I loved:

Was the Noir style mystery...slam...scam..!!! I hollered when Rock n Roll hung himself....or was hung...with a picture of Blue, and he still wanted to bang her. WHAT I LOVED THE MOST WAS THE END!!!! Though I anticipated it differently I hollered and laughed outloud at what you did! Girl! This is just too delish for words. Gonna spread the word on this tale and get everyone to reading! Absolutely superb!! Brava! Flowers at your feet! Loved it!

Author's Response:

Thanks Minx! I'm so glad you liked/loved it. I pulled it from a collection I had wrote from back in undergrad for a Creative Writing class. 'Blue' is truly my hero! And someday, I'm sure she'll resurface. A woman like that doesn't stay caged for long~

A bow from you is stupendous! Thanks for the wonderful idea.
