Good start and the story is engaging so far, but I am having trouble with the jump from this woman:

Lorca never wanted that painting out of the house and some way, somehow, that's exactly what happened. 

Looking back, she would cringe on the way she was falling apart. She would laugh at herself, maybe as soon as months from now.  Yet in this moment, Lorca was frantic.  More frantic than when Liam died, or when her Mom died, or when her first goldfish had been mercilessly flushed in front of her at the age of 4.

to the woman who allows her dad, with little effort, to direct her attention to squiring a young artist around a show. All that desperation to get "Liam's eyes" back seems to have evaporated to the extent that she lets Justin lead her around while she critiques his work, offers to mentor him and finally allows him to tow her off to meet his ex-lover/sponsor.

It felt as if within a couple of paragraphs her entire reason for being there either changed or was forgotten, and all that frantic need to recover one last bit of what's left of her husband is in the end wholly missing.

Otherwise, nicely done.  :)

I know everyone save for Liam, Lorca, and Randall! They must be originals, or take aways from another show. I love QAF, seeing Brian's name is what made me click on this story in the first! I hope you use him well, he was a genius character. One of my absolute favorites.
