This is a totally brilliant story. There are not many Black women as virgin stories and as one who's in her 30s and waiting for marriage--we're depicted as rare and impossible to find. I'm glad you wrote this story for some of us. Some of us have an ideal we're waiting for and aren't ready to go with just anyone, even the flatterers. Not to mention I think Val is a great person. At first I was a bit put off, I've been said to be militant---since I've always been natural and hate relaxers and now sport dreds. So it's great to see she put her hang ups to the side to see what she can have with Matheson. Thanks again for this story. One thing that irked me. Emily said some rather stereotyped/racialized things about Black women and then a few chapters later she's talking about them being family. I'm a bit weirded out by the switch. It doesn't seem natural.

LOL. The reason why this story is called Stereotypically Yours is because I wanted to bring out all of those racist things that everyone has in the backs of their minds.
Now Emily said this because she really had no contact with the black community. Like most white folks she draws her conclusions based on what she sees in the media. Her response to Matheson is due to fear of the unknown.
Now she knows Mavis is black and she loves Mavis with all her heart and there is no fear there. It's not that unbeliveable. The point I was trying to make with Emily is that people draw conclusions about others until they get to know them and then their perception of people changes. I have more of that throughout the story.
I met a woman once and my impression of her (before I got to know her) was that she was straight up ghetto with her gold teeth and weave and tight clothes and fake nails and fake designer bags. Once I got to know her though, I found out all she had perservered through so much as a child. Her mother was killed when she was six, she was raised by a sick grandmother, she had four children at a young age, etc, but she was smart and working and was a really good mother with nice mannerable children.
We all draw conclusions about other people we don't really know. It's just human nature. My purpose of this story is to bring all these things to light and have a little fun doing it. Thanks for the review.

Matheson's father better be glad that VaLysia is understanding of his son's problem-not many women would. When he told her about his problem, she was supportive, but he said she may deal with it now, but it may be a problem in the future. I wonder if he's right...will he be enough for her?

Thank you for your review. Usually in stories the man is such a stud, lasts forever, etc, and I wanted to write about a man who had a few issues because men really do have issues. We dream of the perfect man, but alas, he doesn't really exits. LOL. I wanted Matheson to be strong yet have some vunerabilities. It's another stereotype that men are always ready to perform, always able to perform, etc. That is not always true. More to come soon.

Ahhhh! I love this couple they are so real with each other and love each other unconditionally faults, warts and all.
Emily is a mess but I love her to death and she love herself some Mavis.
