BRAVO...This story struck a little too close to home for me. I LOVED IT!!!
Karma can sure do you a righteous upper-cut to gut. Henry was a young immature man that couldn't stand losing the lifestyle he was use to so he gave up on true love for material standing...and all of those years afterwards he was never truly happy...Good for his punk-ass. I don't feel an iota of sympathy for him, sorry I don't.
But what a beautiful and strong woman his ONLY daughter/child turned out be...Vanessa did a wonderful job. Mrs. Brenda as always your stories has an underlining message to them and for me the message is...
In life there will people that will do you wrong and life will have a way to flip it so that same person will need your help someday. Now you could be just like that person and do tit-for tat but you will be just like the fool that wronged you and blessings down come down that way.
MERRY CHRISTMAS Brenda and I hope that maybe your muse will nudge you some to make this one-shot into a full-blown story.

Good for Henny...she didn't allow Henry's wrong to change what's in her heart and therefore, let vengeance and hatred rule her life...and despite everything...she had/has a good life...a life Henry and his parents deemed she shouldn't be allowed to have...but her mother ensured that she had...I feel so sorry for Vanessa...and sorry, but I can't muster up one smidgeon sympathy for Henry at all...and I doubt that he "loved" anyone but himself...he's a weak, selfish tool...but as with all things in life...you live and you learn...the good with the bad...

Henry now realizes the consequences of his bad decision. He has all the wealth that he was afraid to lose, but he's never going to be happy. I have a feeling that even the restoration of his health will not keep him from thinking about his bad choice.

Henry was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. How many 19 year olds would have chosen differently? I don't know. But his life will never be the same.
