I read this story this afternoon from start to finish because I was reading the other story you posted and wanted to get the backstory of Jake's and Liandra's story...now, I could kick myself from sleeping so long on such a touching and heartfelt story...now I can't wait to read the rest of their story...

I love how Miss Irene told Liandra how she was letting her screwed up past dictate her future...a mistake many of us make...what we can all take from is that simply...the past is the past...learn from it and move on ...we have to live for our future and grasp happiness when ever it comes to us...I so hope Liandra gets her second chance with Jake...she threw away a most precious gift of Jake's love because of her own fears and self-doubt and believing she didn't deserve that kind of love...I hope Faith gets a chance to know her father...and Jake gets the chance at the family that always eluded him...I pray that Liandra's rejection hasn't hardened his heart and disillusioned him against trusting people as to make him so wary he won't let her in again...with a little thing called "Faith"...I think they might just make it...

The quiet passion of each character is indelibly etched in my memory. Jake and Liandra aren’t their circumstances. To me they are strength, courage and wisdom-in-training. They’re beautiful people (not just the physical) struggling against unspeakable adversity that no child/no teenager should have to go through. Sure they’ve stumbled along the way but they got up to try again.

Most of all they...are....survivors!

That was a dumbass move! Stupid. Why the hell would she go there alone? She's street smart (supposedly) and even if she wasn't, she's no idiot. If she thought he wasn't there, he could return before she left so she should've taken someone with her, a friend, a coworker, somebody!!!

It's like she's gluttony for punishment, unable to stop the vicious cycle. She takes two steps forward only to go back (sorta) to her abuser knowing damn well what he'd do. SORRY SOB!!!

OOOO I'm smoking mad right now. I sure hope she press charges or at the very least barter her freedom...sever all ties with that ASSHOLE!

Amir is crazy and needs to go down. For all her street smarts why did she go by herself. I hope happiness is around the corner  for the 2 lost souls in this story.

Sex for comfort, normalcy, love, is most often how women deal with whatever demons that haunt them. Liandra is no different. And damn don’t my heart bleed for her. To be so young and struggle with self-acceptance is heartbreaking. Hopefully one day she’ll realize that she as beautiful on the inside and out, and that the bastards who verbally and physically abused her are the ones who’s fucked up, not her.

Poor Jake. I’m reminded of his truism in the beginning: never finding a place that I was truly happy with or that was ever happy with me. I think Jake was as complacent as he’s ever been during his time Miss Irene and Henry, and Liandra, but now she broke his heart. Once again he’s on the move...and alone. Jake isn’t damaged goods either; he’s a good guy who deserves love too.

Thank you for the update. I sure hope Jake comes back. Liandra does need to get her stuff together and get rid of that looser Amir. Cant wait for more.

Great update!! I really like this story.  Liandra and Jake are both so lost. I hope Liandra learns to open up to Jake so that they can be together I think they need each other. Cant wait to read more

I’m glad there wasn’t clueless dialogue or back and forth should-we-or-shouldn’t-we moments. Your first sex scene (the first that I’ve read), was written well. Nice job.
