This was good A-WORD story. I occuppied my whole saturday by reading this(well at least half). It was better than a movie. Well anyways just thought i should tell you this because it was so great.

Don't know about anyone else but I liked the ending. I didn't want Kylie with Oliver any more. Too much hurt and pain there.
What did Lalita and Oliver whisper to each other? Do tell, pretty please?
So glad that Oliver really didn't sleep with Abbie.

As far as what Lalita whispered to him, well I'll leave that up to your imagination. But for me I imagine the words to be something he needed to hear in order to begin to forgive himself for everything that had happened. And I'm glad Ollie didn't sleep with Abbie either! It wasn't as clear in the movie but I choose to not have that be a question.

Yay! That was a great ending. Loved, loved, loved every chapter. Kylie and Ollie's talk was great. I figured Mya's death didn't happen exactly the way in his book but it was still heartbreaking all the same. I think my favorite moment had to be Lalita jumping down the rabbit hole. It was beautiful. Well done greatodin and I though the ending was absolutely perfect.

Okay, first off, this was such a great story. You did such a wonderful job unfolding the storyline, creating the charactes, and I loved every moment. So my hats off to you, because this story will be missed.
I am glad Ollie and Kylie went their seperate ways. It was the definately the right thing for him to do, he was bad for her, and it seemed like he finally realized that. Her not telling him she was a writer was a clear example of how being with him affected her, and it seemed like she grew out of the relationship a bit, needed something different in her life.
I'm okay with her being with Alex, though it doesn't really feel very permanent to me. Just something she needs to help her heal. But that may just be my take on the story, I think it really comes down to what's best for her in the end.
So yeah, a lovely end for a fantastic story. Thanks for sharing with us greatodin, you bring perfection as always.

Thank you TBG, it feels wonderful to read that! I'm back and forth over whether I do a sequel but there is this part of me that can imagine where they all would be in five years. You're absolutely right Kylie needed to grow, they both did and it wasn't the right time for them to be together.
And you also make a great point about Alex, he is helping her to heal. But long term who knows, I think Kylie is happy to focus a lot on embracing who she is and become a fully realized woman. I see Kylie as someone who never really dreamed before she just kind of moved through life making spontaneous decisions and just living day by day I think she's ready to tap into that part of herself that wants to follow her dreams and not be tied down. How Alex fits into that for the moment is up to the reader. But I didn't just want for it to be that after everything she went through with Ollie, now she's head over heels in love with Alex and they all live happily ever after, it didn't feel true to the story or the characters.

You're right, I SO wanted Ollie and Kylie back together. I was thinking they were going to get a fresh start. But, I still liked the ending becuase at least a new was given the chance to develop. I've truly enjoyed reading this story, now hurry up and update some of your other stories, LOL!!

I even am mulling over doing a sequel some day to see where all of these characters are in 5 years. Oh, I loved that last scene. My heart broke for Lalita, how all that pain came rushing back at her. Lord, that was..just...painful to read. But beautifully written.

Okay, great chapter. Man I missed this story and I'm going to be sad when it's over. You've done an amazing job.
Second, I loved the interaction with Alex and Kylie. Seriously, all I coudl think when I read it was how much she deserved a guy like that, who obviously respects her and wants something for the long hall. It's like she's just realizing that loving someone doesn't have to hurt all the time.
I'm glad Ollie is finally getting a clue. I think he needs to do a 12 step of sorts where he makes amends for all those people he's hurt in some way over the years.
That said---while I'm still rooting for Alex, most of all, I'm rooting for a happy Kylie.

Yes Kylie is learning that there is more to love than drama and pain and Alex is a guy that really helps her to feel more young and alive and hopeful.

I'm slow on the uptake, but printed this out and began reading this weekend. So far, as I kinda see where this is going, it reminds me (in a way) of P.S. I Love You. The part with Oliver 'dying' or the hinting that he dies. I'm only about 4 chapters deep and I'm already angsting up for the inevitable. Will I be crying at the end? LOL
Love Lalita and Alex (Tom Welling...hope I'm getting his name right). Love your casting of Joy--she is just flawlessly, efforlessly gorgeous. I promise to comment more once I've finished :) And I'm must check out the movie, as well ;)

update was great, a lot of question were answered and some surprises. Ollie duplicity made me sick, what kind of person plays games with someones feelings and he does not have the decency to be honest to either woman. Kylie is too good for Ollie, she does not give herself credit, she as backbones, braines and beauty. she needs to have confidence in herself and I think Alex could be good for her, if she gives him a chance. she needs to realize that she can be more than Ollie fuck buddy or a loading dock for his problems.
Author's Response: It's true that Kylie doesn't realize a lot her of her own strength and beauty can't we all be that way hahaha. But to be fair to Ollie there are a few more pieces that have to fall in place before you have the total picture! Also I do believe that in his own screwed up way Ollie does love Kylie and sees her as more than his loading dock or fuck buddy. Okay, I feel so slow right now, I did not make the connection between Lalita and Maya, it just didn't compute for some reason. Though now that I think back to the story, I can see it was right there in front of me.
Awesome chapter. I'm so glad I'm reading this without seeing the movie first, I'm so enjoying the journey of this story. I honestly have no idea how it will end, which is great.
Author's Response: I was actually hoping that to a certain extent. In the movie it's pretty clear because you can see all the actors and actresses but I kind of wanted to play around with that a bit with this story so I'm glad someone was still surprised. It has been fun doing this story for an audience that haven't seen the movie because it really gave me a bit a freedom while forcing me not to make assumptions about what people understood or get lazy on some of the details. This chapter was kinda sad and full of irony. I glad that Ollie's coming to get her, but I really want to know what's gonna happen bw her and Alex.
Side note: When I saw bird of paradise, I thought about this really freaky bird by the same name that I saw on the Discovery Channel.

Yeah I think that was pretty much rock bottom, no where to go emotionally but up hahaha. Ollie is definitely coming to get Kylie back but so much has happened it's uncertain whether they can navigate through it all. You've seen the movie if memory serves so I'll be most interested to see how my ending compares to that!
Didn't realize there was a bird by that name, I'll have to google that! The first think I thought of was female superheroes called the birds of prey hahaha

Great chapter. Loved Lalita and Kylie figuring out their connection. And I have to say I was shocked to read about the lighthouse. Seriously, Ollie just makes me tired sometimes. He had to have known who he was talking to right? On one hand its very good of him to give comfort to the grieving mother of his child but on the other to do so without her knowing is such a cop out. Seriously greatodin, this story has me going in circles. It's fantastic.

Oowee! It's all coming to a head! You made me tear up at work, GreatO. You had me blinking real fast so that my co-workers wouldn't see tears running down my face. That was a fantastic chapter. Lalita had been talking to her daughter's father all that time. *shakes head* Talk about six degrees of separation which should really be one degree with this story. Looking forward to the next chapter.

This chapter really shows that Ollie was a straight mess at this point in time. It's funny how "Colin's" conscious kept telling him to leave and go home to the woman he loves, but his sexual nature kept getting in the way.
I'm gald that he's awake and I hope he finds Kylie and make things right.

Good gracious that was messed up. I seriously need to know if that happened. It seems like it did but since it's his book we really don't know for sure. I'm still got a serious dislike of Ollie at this point. On one level I feel for him, but on the other I just want to shake his ass and tell him to grow the hell up and be a man!
Girl, this update was fabulous. I hate to see this story end though I know it must. All I can say is I can't wait to see what happens next.

It is pretty messed up, I struggled with this chapter because of everything that happened I didn't know if I should do it but I wanted to stay true to the movie so I pushed it ahead. Ollie is complex and something of a walking self fulfilling prophecy I think.

Okay, Oliver's kind of an ass. Plus he's whiney. And selfish. Yes, he's been through things, and yes life is hard, but damn, I was so with Kylie when she told him she didn't need his ass. Okay, so if you cant' tell I had kind of a serious "reaction" to this chapter.
I liked Alex. Alex is nice---and hot---and wants to open a resturaunt with all his sexy cash. If she doesn't want him, I'll take him off her hands.

Kylie is growing as a person and she's sees Oliver on this downward spiral and she wants to help him but without he being honest with her about what's going on his life it's like she's hitting a brick wall.

Great update. Poor Ollie and Kylie. They seem to really love each other, but have no clue how to make that love last.
Author's Response: They do love each other a lot. Unfortunately neither of them learned that love is more than words or even an emotion, like Alex said love is a sustained action. But I guess it just goes to show that just because you love someone doesn't mean things will work out the way you would like them too.
