Sorry, lady, love this chapter as much as the ones before it. Bummed about MJ or not, you still did good.
This chapter was sweet, understated, and a little reserved... sad. I believe the sense of lost we've experienced this week came through in your writing.
Micky is so starved for caring and affection, he operates with cool, machine-like precision. Linda is the opposite. Facing her mortality, she's in it to enjoy what's left all the way to the end. Imani tries to maintain a reserved demeanor but is all emotion to her core. And Rafaella?? A brewing hurricane.
I was prepared to feel sorry for the reaming Rafaella is about to give Micky, but perhaps he really needs a good shake up to break some of the ice off him.

You can't fight a mother's determination. If Linda wants Rachel out and Imani in, then we will be saying goodbye to Rachel very soon and a relationship between Micky and Imani will blossom.

Great update...I thought that this wouldn't be a love story but more of an inspirational one were Imani and Linda would be there for each other. But it appears that Micky might be falling for Imani. AS for his wife she is a mess and I am not sure why he stays married to her anyway.
If Linda has her way they will not be married for much longer, meddling old lady.

LOL. That was like prose... and funny as hell. I love how Linda thinks.
"Oh she made a note to eradicating Rachel from his life at hello. And hoped that she'd go quietly, though likely not since women like Rachel lived for the encores."
Obviously Linda had taken an instant dislike to Rachel, especially for her son. Now that she's found the right woman for Micky, let's see how creative she'll get in making Rachel leave for good.

Linda is post parenting. She missed a lot of time and wishes her influence was present...but she'll find that Micky does have a lot of her heart. He keeps it all hidden!

I like how you're easing into this story. Imani seems like a wonderful person and Linda is so insightful. Poor Micky is in over his head. He's about to fall in love while still married to his wife. Let the games begin!!

Yes...it's a powerful interaction and it's going to need time to tell it. This time won't be waisted. You'll get to see where all of the four main (Linda, Imani, Rafi, & Micky). Micky is so clueless...and the trouble is he will try to use all he knows (by his fathers tuteledge) to remove himself from the very one that he needs to unite with. He's a victim of some very disheartened rearing. Father is dead. But his presence is in Micky. And why Linda toils with him is because she see's the man she walked away from. They were unmatched. But poor Micky could have been shaped differently.

Excellent update! Once again, Imani and Linda's connection is so touching. I like that this woman seems to be drawing Mickey and Imani closer and closer to a connection, though their affection and concern for her. And I'm anxious to read what happens next, especially after he finds her
Oh,and I'm enjoying Rafi too. I wonder how she'll take to Linda's new companion.

Imani and Linda are indeed tied together. They are truly inseparable. Micky is a mess and he's going to get so much more from the experience. He's in real need of some healing. He's a tortured soul. And Linda really isn't aware of just how much he needed her. But we'll all see it!

Enjoyed the update.
Linda and Imani made quite a connection. Mickey being awe-struck by Imani certainly wasn't lost on Linda. Imani for having such a good, generous heart can use a little self-confidence. She didn't assess Linda wrong. Linda may not be wanting in money but she wants fulfillment and hope. Amani and her dream, her vision filled her with that.
Good for Linda going out in search of Imani. However, she should have left Mickey a note. Finding his mother missing after run ins with the wacky interviewee and the greedy plastic wife, Mickey will need more than Grey Goose to calm his nerves.
Looking forward to the next update.

Excellent update! I really enjoyed the bonding between Imani and Linda, and love that they were so instantly comfortable with one another. I'm curious as to what her son's first reaction to Imani will be and hers to him. I'm looking foward to that first interaction between them.

This is a very good story. Has a great deal of depth and is going slow as it should. I like the fact that Linda and Imani sharing together and this will help Imani.
She is a wiz at numbers and I am sure Mr. Sabtino will give her a job, but, her main job will be to help Linda. No!

Once again, Imani breaks my heart just a little. I'm looking foward to when the characters paths cross, it feels like they might find each other just when they all need it most.
This is already such a touching story in so many ways. And I like the gradual build of each chapter to the next, the way they hint at what's to come. I've wanted to write a story like this for a while and was listening to a clip of "No Place To Go" from YouTube and decided to pick up the journal and pull the notes from years ago.
