Your character pics are lovely and your casting is wonderful. I'm far, far behind with this story, but I'm about to begin reading. Love the summary with the little girl; little babies are so precious!

Yea for the update, I love this story but I'm confused as to what you are going to do about Jakes relationship with Renee. I dont see how you are going to get Jake out of the lie he told Renee reguarding not knowing Li and his past with her.

I guess you could have him sit Renee down and give her the whole truth then have them break-up because he sleep and had a child with a Black woman.

Li and Jake belongs together, I liked the inter-action with Jake and Faith he want's so badly to be a good father.

Please keep the updates coming..

well I for one am just so happy that you are back.  I have loved their story from the original and this new one.  I don't know how Jake thinks he can keep Faith a secret for long.  I mean his girlfriend maynot seem now as the clingy type but if he continues to change and spend more time either on the phone or with 'Miss Irene' she will become suspicious.  I know that I would and that is normal.  It was funny that Li was thinking that at 4 Faith would leave home and become an addict just becuase she found out about Jake.  But as usual Miss Irene was the voice of reason.  And the sermon scene was just too funny.  That kindof reminded me of their first service they shared.

And little ms. Faith is not a dumb child.  She is going to figure something out.  Maybe not the truth, but she has to feel something.  I can't believe that her mother has just always been quiet after church.  But I think Jake did a good thing with the toy.  It was not too much but it helped to break the ice between the two of them.  And to have your daughter reach out and introduce herself to you had to be a very emotional moment.  I can see why he had an anxiety attack.

Li and Jake have got to get it together.  there is something between them.  They can't deny it.  But Li thinks he is committed to his girlfriend.  And who knows.  Maybe he is, but there is a part of him that wants only Li.  If they are not honest with each other, they are never going to get anywhere.

It never ceases to amaze me how 'real' you write these characters...

I can almost 'feel' Jake's trepidation...he's been unceremoniously thrusted into the role of 'father' and he has no earthly idea of what exactly that entails having no example of what a 'real' father supposed to do and be from his own experiences...loved him 'taking notes' as the pastor was giving his sermon on how a father should behave and what his role was in a family...yet, I sense there is a long road ahead of him...first...he really needs to sit Renee down and tell her the unabridged version of the truth...Faith is his daughter and Renee needs to know this if Jake wants to have any relationship with his child...I'm wondering why he is still so reluctant to share his past with her and he should really be questioning why this is so himself...I mean...he's supposed to be with her, right...then there should be no barriers between them and he should really be comfortable sharing with her what life was like for him 'before' there was a them...but his conscience is slowly eating away at him for the lies that trip off his lips like honey...and how he actively tries to separate his past from his current...

I can also understand Li's possessiveness where Faith is concerned...let's face it...she's had Faith to herself for all these years...and as the only parent around for that little girl...sharing her with someone else...even if that person is her own father...is a pretty tall order...and I don't care what Li's trying to convince herself of otherwise...she and Jake have a lot of unfinished business between them...she practically wants to jump his bones...Jake doesn't know it...but Li wants him ever bit as much as he used to (and still does if he's honest with himself) want her...

Miss Irene is such a wise sage...I like how she's subtly leading them both to that conversation where they have to put their cards on the table and speak from their hearts...she's not being overt about it...but she's pushing them in the right direction...right now...Faith's needs takes priority...Li really needs to sit Faith down and explain to her what Jake was to her...she's a little girl and the reveal that Jake is her father will be a lot for her to swallow...but Li needs to be honest with her about the situation and how her own fears changed the course of their futures...not scare her I mean...but let her know that her father didn't know about her existence...which will probably lead to questions about why Li didn't try to contact him or hid Faith's existence in the first place...Faith needs to know her father just didn't 'abandon' her...the situation was complicated and needs to be explained gently to her...I'm hoping I'm making sense...at least a little...

I love this story and am glad to see you and it back...can't wait to read more of this journey of love and rediscovery between Jake, Liandra, and Faith...great work...please update soon...

So glad you're back!  I love this story and the update was awesome.  I could feel the nervous tension between Li and Jake and I had a tear when Jake gave Faith her gift.  Can't wait to read more and see how long it takes him to tell Renee what is going on and what her reaction will be.

Welcome Back!!

I remember reading the first story then starting the sequel then losing track of this story. I'm glad you are back to continue it. It is a very good story.

Miss Irene and Henry did a really good job nurturing and guiding Li... mainly with lots of love and non-judgmental support, I'm sure. She, in turn is a good mother to Faith and has matured in the past four years.

Yup. Jake is still attracted to Li and a little afraid of Faith. I do give him credit for stepping right up and wanting to get to know and be a father to his little girl. He should have similar courage telling Renee. (Yeah, right.) And like any woman, she will not take it well.

Things seem to be going rather well at the moment. That means some drama is possibly lurking in the near future, huh?

My hand shook as I opened the door and saw Jake. It was like the first time I laid eyes on him all over again. His seemingly unmanageable hair was tousled into some sort of structured chaos. The cloudy weather brought out the grey undertone in his blue-green orbs. I took in his outfit; he wore a pair of fitted jeans that had the right amount of sag and a dark green v-neck shirt with a black blazer over his shoulders.

Unintentionally, I bit my lip. I wanted to take this man and give him a second child right now.

LOL!!!  I know you did Li, and he'd be happy to oblige.

When's the next update?  I wanna see more of Jake with his family. Oh and um, six or more pages would be just lovely!  hehehe

You wanted a long review so here goes...

I know there’s a natural progression for reconnecting lost love…you’ve gotta establish the characters, develop the storylines, pace the narration but darn-it, I want my couple together now! Immediately. Pronto. LOL.  Oh it’s so wrong that they’re in this state of suspension.  I agree with Jake, he’s missed four years of his baby’s life, he needs to be a father to her, and Liandra deserves the fairytale, the happily ever after.  Sure, we all know that fairytales rarely happen – if ever yet sometimes, every once in a while, dreams you never knew you had come true.

Why am I saying all this?

Because Jake needs to drop that bimbo!  Why is she with him, besides that fact that he’s hot?  From what I can tell, Renee’s into Renee.  Jake was this hot, mysterious drifter who she thinks has this he’s-never-had-anyone-like-me-before vibe happening, and he’ll bow to my every whim.  Jake feels he’s indebted to her father and she keeps him in check by reminding him of that (probably).  No doubt she brags to her friends that he’s her lap-dog whom she uses for great sex and that’s it (I’ll bet he hasn’t touched her since the day he started breathing again).  Thing is, she’ll miss that tall drink of water when he’s gone.

Speaking of which…

After that smoldering kiss, Jake and Liandra should elope. Just…run off and get hitched, worry about everything else later.  No matter how gentle he tries to be, someone will get hurt.  Why return to a hollow existence when your heart has found its home again elsewhere?  Prolonging the evitable and keeping his daughter a secret equates to Jake being ashamed of her (I know that’s not true nor is it his intent but I wanna be bitchy for a moment ‘cause it just isn’t fair).

Ok, soapbox rant over.

Jake and Faith Jay were adorable; he’s in awe of her as he should be. When he had the panic attack, you could tell the man is overwhelmed with love for her, for them (brava for capturing his emotion so vividly).  I love the mini historical moments Liandra shares with him.  And I’m glad she has a wonderful relationship with her mother: Miss Irene.  Taking notes during the sermon was so…Jake.  It’s paramount that father and daughter establish a rapport with one another because Someone’s trying to tell him something.

I hope he’s listening.

SO glad  you are back I missed this story a lot. I think Faith should be told that Jake is her father, but what Ms Irene said makes a lot of sense. Those 2 still have it bad for each other. Wonder what Jake is going to do about Renee she would be a pain in the butt if he tried to leave her. Look forward to reading more.

He couldn’t sleep hunh?  I bet not.  Learning you’re an instant father can do that to anyone.  Jake, however, has a big heart; he’s in love with his baby-girl already.  Faith is a beautiful little princess.  I can’t wait to see father, daughter…and mother together, permanently.

I loved that Liandra was so straightforward and honest with Jake…telling him about the pregnancy, her struggle with termination, adoption, her nightmares, Amir.  Faith climbing in bed with her mommy to protect her almost had me in tears.  Jake’s relaxed manner wasn’t lost on me either.  His story of determination, survival, his educational achievement, Renee – just flowed from him (I’m willing to bet that that’s the most he’s spoken in four years). How refreshing it is to see them communicating effortlessly with no himming and hawing or bullshit.

It’s as if they were never apart

That connection between Jake and Li is still there.  They just have to figure out how to make the best of it.  But all of the lies that Jake has been telling is going to come back to bite him.  But I am glad that they are at least talking.  Wonder what excuse he will come up with when he is going to go to church with them on Sunday.  And I can't wait to see what Faith has to say when they finally meet.  Awesome chapter.
