This “I have to save him, Cilla. I have to save him” made me wonder why Sunny is compelled to "save" the piss-ant. Is it because it's who she is; that she feels the need to "save" people? Is it because of what it would do to Nikki because she knows that if Sergei dies she would not be able to stay with Nikki? Is it all or none of those things?
Nikki makes my hear hurt. Sunny, not so much. I want her to afford Nikki the same kind of mercy that she seems to give Sergei so consistently. Her head can no longer stay in the sand.
I'm actually OK if they can't be together. Nikki has changed but to what extent? Will the darkness continue to be a part of him? Maybe a very small part *I desperately hope*. Sunny will be OK, whether she is with Nikki or not. I don't know about Nikki's ability to survive without Sunny. But he needs to learn to do so. Who you are and what you are can't be wrapped up in another individual. Gee, I'm actually talking about these folks as if they're REAL! That's due to your skittles, Omni. :-)
I agree with another poster, Lovelybears, let Nikki find peace whether that's with Sunny or away from her.

Okay I understand that Sergei is your friend but be for real Sunny HE HELD A GUN ON NIKKI THEN YOU I swear sometimes I like her character and others I want to bang her head against the wall. She can tell everyone she loves Nikki, but not him. ugghhhh !!!! Omni, Love your writing and I'm probably a little selfish but please try to make her understand and actually listen without outside forces, like her past.

Free Nikki!!!!! When this wonderful story started my favorite character was Sunny. I wanted her to be happy because she was such a loving and sweet girl who did all she could for everyone. She still is, but it is Nikki I have come to have the most sympathy and love for. He is the most scarred and the most humbled in this whole story.
Circumstances in his life caused him to become who he is. Starting with his father who should have been the man to teach and shape his son into some one good or even normal. What he got from his biological father was lies and dislike. His mother was too hard to give her son what he needed so he went to a gang that was never the friends he thought. They betrayed him just to get back at his father. He meets someone who means well. The man treats him like a son, but he has to teach him to be ruthless and brutal in order to survive. That survival turns into his business, but where was the choice really.
I see that blackness in him as all the hurt, anger and betrayal that a very young man had to push down and not deal with in order to make it. So when I say free Nikki, I mean let him get rid of it all. Free his spirit so that even if Sunny walks away the blackness has no hold anymore.
As much as I want them to be together, I really would like to see Nikki find peace. Let him find a way to release it on his own. Not just when Sunny is near. Otherwise it will always be around and he will never be his total self.
With that said..........I hope they end up together. This has been a great story and I'm waiting just like everyone else for the finale. Thanks!

Would you believe I almost missed this update after patrolling the site for days like an addict looking for her fix. That was a heartbreaker. Onimosity, Onimosity, Onimosity! That five-star rating you got for the chapter, is for the EVIL EVIL cliffhanger. Ah Wednesday you say? Hmmm. I am not sure many of us could last that long. Before long we will be with your muse, drinking all those mimosas that she is whipping up, while biting our nails and anxiously waiting for that crucial final chapter. Lolol
Sergei finally lost his goddamn mind and Sunny feel this huge guilt for his actions. That misguided selfish boy goes and puts himself, his brother and probably his mother in mortal danger, and Sunny feels guilty. Well, what comes next is me raising my hand in frustration, rolling my eyes, shouting my favourite phrase - WTF!!! Anatoly says it perfectly, "By rights - the rights we live under - Nikolai should have killed him. He should have killed my brother." Now that he had been beaten to almost an inch of his life and as he lies on his back to recuperate from his injuries, he can think about his life and his actions. Nikolai may be a monster, but Sergei is a monster in training. Ten years from now, he will be the Nikolai of today. And I think that has been my problem Sergei all along. He actually saw himself as being better than the rest of them and his decisions questionable at best, but after 10 plus years in the life, he would be just as bloodied as the rest of them. None goes unscathed. The young selfish hypocrite; he had to learn a painful lesson.
She admitted she loved him. Finally and it had to be under these circumstances. Of the three of them in that room I empathised with Nikolai the most. And I attributed this Onimosity to your gift of words. You crafted a story starting with most of us not particularly liking Nikolai. As his story unfolded and he began to transform, we came to see the man behind the mask so much so that most of us were cheering for him. This is not a fairy tale but it is a story about a man who through his circumstances became a dark violent soul; a beast even. And that is what it took for him to survive prison and become a most feared man. This is about a girl also caught up in a bad situation but who is able to remain a beacon of light for others. And this is about the love and a transformation of them both as Sunny shined her light on her Nikki.
Though heartbroken, I am glad Sunny finally saw that side of Nikki. Brilliant Onimosity, just brilliant! I believe that violent episode has brought them to a point where Nikki is broken enough to open up fully to Sunny, and she is sensitised and receptive enough to truly listen from the heart. Circumstances brought her into his world and into his life. Her father’s actions and decisions sealed her fate, but the choice she makes now is what counts. Does she have the strength to stay connected to a man who is capable of such violence? Can she go pass his blackness and see that her Nikki is really both sides of this complex man? I hope she can. I hope she really loves Nikolai, the Bloody and Nikolai, the lover. But I fear that her love is now a prison door about to swing either way. My hope is that she did not back go there to bargain her staying with Nikolai as a means of setting Sergei free. They are so way past that now. I don’t think he wants her at any cost. He has always taken precautions to ensure he didn’t entrap her and that is one of the things that has made him endearing to many of us. And so I cannot see him starting now. What did Stanislavsky tell Sunny I wonder? Did he tell her about Nikolai's new status in the family? One thing for sure, no matter how things turn out, Nikolai is at the end of his game as the head of the family.
So I guess Onimosity I will be there standing in line, gulping a mimosa, as I wait for your final instalments of this well crafted drama...

Well, one tiny comment... I had this vision of Sunny bringing tea to a fragile figure who sits huddled in an Adirondack chair staring out at the ocean. It is Sergei, who Sunny has chosen to save and nurse back to health.

Onimosity...Onimosity...you know you're not right for this...Wednesday...evil necessity...just evil girl, just plain evil I tell you...
So Sunny still thinks of Sergei as her friend...knew that he wouldn't hurt her even though he turned the gun her way...and then why didn't she know that Nikolai would react the way he did...he loves you girl more than he loves his own life...he was so nonchalant all the while Sergei held him at gunpoint...but the moment when her life was in danger or what he perceived as danger...he literally lost it...Sergei is lucky to be stil breathing...and if Stanislavsky or any of the member to 'the family' find him...he is dead, dead, dead...
The worst scenario happened for Nikolai...all throughout their relationship he has tried so vigilently to shield Sunny away from his other self...the self that is capable of brutality and violence that an innocent mind such as hers could never comprehend...and in walks Sergei to 'save' the day...with his foolish plan...and put her in danger...and all hell breaks loose...he can no more control the darkness that resides in him than he can control his own heartbeat...oh, please don't let Sergei win...Nikolai is devastated...he thinks he's destroyed something inside of Sunny and how can she love a beast such as he after witnessing firsthand the level of violence he is capable of...Nikolai the Bloody came to the fore and there is no way that he can be contained within the box that Nikolai has tried to keep him in...and poor Sunny...her eyes are now wide open...and she can no longer ignore exactly what the man she loves really is...will she be brave enough to stay with him despite knowing what he is...or will she do the easy thing and walk away from him because of it...and I wonder exactly what were the words that Stanislavsky had to share with her...are they words that releases Nikolai from his obligations to the family...oh, you know how to drag this suspense out to the very end...but I'm not mad at you at all for it...you really know how to keep us running back for more...
So I'll be brave and wait patiently until Wednesday to see what exactly Sunny has decided...she loves him (those words should have been for Nikolai's ears and heart to hear) and not Cilla's...
So until next time...see ya around...but I still say you're so wrong to make me wait like this...but girl...thanks for doing your thing...what a great tale!!!!

First of all thanks for the update! As always awesome. Nikki loves for Sunshine nevers wavers, he is totally devoted to her and the thought of Sergi turning the gun on her, well of course he is gonna to try to choke him out!! Nikki has come full circle, for me he has proven his love for her, he wants to be better for her. He could have killed Sergi as soon as he entered the room. Such an emotional roller coaster. But I am loving the ride. I am going to hate for this journey to end. He is worthy of Sunshine's love. Can't wait for the next update. This story is simply the best!! Thanks to you and the muse!!!!!

Oh no,....oh no....please don't let Sunny leave Nikolai. He won't be able to take it. Yes, he went overboard,...but Sergei is still breathing. He is not dead. But if Sunny leaves Nikolai,....the loss of his Sunshine will make him shrivel up before her eyes....and die. His heart may beat, but he will be dead.
So, please give Sunny a double dose of wisdom and let them talk this out,...with Sunny staying with Nikolai,...with his promise to leave the business (perhaps)?
Do it, however you want, but only make sure that Sunny and Nikolai stay together.
By the way, I am glad Sergei is still alive. And look at how important Sunny is to Nikolai, he didn't kill Sergei, afterall. Can't she see that she is the CENTER, BEGINNING, and the END of Nikolai's life?
Is the end of the story really coming?

Sergei is still stupid to me for pulling that on Nicholai although i guess he was just trying to Save Sunny. But maybe she didn't want to be saved and now i wonder how this conversation will go now that they're alone, can't wait to see what happens next.
