as much as i loved wash and zoe, i always thought her and mal were made for each other. although mal is attracted to inara i thought that he loved zoe much deeper and more passionately jmho.
liked it very much would have loved it, if mal realized that what he loved was staring him in his face the entire time.
Author's Response: I hear you, and I thought about that as well. I felt this is where the characters wanted to go in this story -- obviously a contrived story because it's a challenge fic. Still, even as I wrote the end i thought Inara/Mal once tested might not prove to be what was promised. So...much tension, so many possibilities. Thank you so much for reading. Wow, a Firefly fic! This is why this site is so desperately needed. Man, I love this and you did a wonderful job. So glad to see you've returned to fanfic writing. Your tales were missed. Now we get to enjoy them in the best form. Brava!
