Alan's father's race hatred is typical of most but he really violently expresses it. He is ready to kill Alan to terminate his son's union with a Black girl! The bulwarks of race hatred are strong! It seems Alan sincerely cares for Regina, I think their initial attraction for each other is seeing the beauty in their racial differences! Since, all persons are initially attracted to another by the positive feeling they feel about the others physical appearance! But, this couple is paying a high and dangerous price for following their hearts and Regina's mom spoke the truth when she said it would not be much different in New York, (just a little less overt).

Alan has proved himself to be more of man than his father can ever hope to be. Great update. I love how supportive Reginaparent's are of her relationship with Alan. Reminds me of my parents.
