Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Don't Talk to Me

Great update.

Ah, didn't Matt just say that he was advised not to come on too strong? So he says, "I'm sorry?" WTH? Please tell me Taylor goes off on him!!

I can't wait to read her response in your next chapter!!

Author's Response: So you think that he's still coming on too strong?

Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6- Landed in Seattle

ANOTHER GREAT CHAPTER!!

I'm glad that you slowed it down. Matt is still oozing charm, but he isn't as over-bearing. Taylor should remain leery and distant. He's no way near trust or forgiveness.

I'm enjoying reading this story as it unfolds.

Author's Response: I've really enjoyed reading your reviews.  Its been very helpful....

Title: Chapter 8: Chapter 8- How does it feel?

Ha! Pish pa is right. Deal with it Matty boy!!

Oh, how devilish of you to make him suffer like this. Donovan is a trip! And was JC hitting all of Matt's sore spots, or what? That was a great reality check for him.

Matt needs to EARN back everything he threw away... her friendship, trust, love, and belief in him. As someone else mentioned, if this is the woman he so loves and wants a life with, her being black should have been dealt with before they decided o get married.

Yup. They need to stay apart a while longer. Perhaps he should get down to having a serious talk with her with lots of humble apologizing instead of the possessive caveman shit he's pulling confronting her.

I believe she managed her own life, protected her own virture quite well for eight years after he dumped her. She does not need that crap from him.

You are doing great developing the two main characters. I can't wait to read more.

Author's Response: Will he be able to Earn it back... It's been eight years...

Title: Chapter 9: Chapter 9- My business or your business?

I love it!! Jealous? He has some nerves. Who she's dating? Super cahones.

Hopefully Matt will get himself in check. Some women go ga-ga about the over-proective, chest-beaters. In this case it's totally inappropriate.

Taylor calmly, coolly nailed home a few points for him. Yes, he voluntarily forefeited the right to her and her business when he dumped her.

He's okay for a minute, then he does something. One step forward. Two steps backwards. It will be their dance for a while.

Thanks for the update!!

Author's Response: Glad that you like it.  I really appreciate your feedback.  It helps me to go in the right direction.

Title: Chapter 10: Chapter 10-Seems like you're ready

Hmm. Taylor and Donovan. Yikes! LOL.

Donovan seems nice and charming, but a bit too cocky. After eight years, Taylor picks him to be interested in? I believe that she is running from Matt. Time for their long-overdue talk.

Thanks for the update. looking forward to reading more.

Author's Response: She is running from him.  Wouldn't you?  Donovan seems like the easy safe choice to me.  Yep, it's time to have a talk.

Title: Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Great chapter!

I'm glaad that they finally talked. There is more to be said though.

Honestly, Matt didn't really think Taylor would simply shrug, accept his explanation, and forgive him... move on with him?

He basically admitted that he thought his career was more important than her and six weeks before they married he le a stranger convince him that he couldn't have a Black wife?? That would have been in 2001 not 1961 for heaven's sake.

Also, Donovan doesn't win any rave reviews with me either. He's swooping in on Taylor when she's hurt and vulnerable. That's hardly a fair move.

Let's see how far he gets...

Author's Response: There is more to be said certainly.

Title: Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Loved the update!

Angela was rightfully angry. Somehow the more Matt tells his reason/excuse, the worse (not more pausable) it sounds.

I like that Donovan is re-assessing his game plan and slowing his approach. Unfortunately, I still don't see it getting him any more than a good friend in Taylor. O-kay, I admit he may be a nice guy after all. <sighs and rolls eyes>

Matthew, man, alcohol, jealosy, and confrontation are a lethal mix. Unless he passes out drunk before they get back to the condo, I predict that he will make an ass of himself. Alas things will get worse before they get better.

I can't wait for, "Where the hell have you been? It's four o'clock in the morning!!!" LOL

Author's Response: I can't let Matt make a bigger ass of himself...lol

Title: Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Great!

The scene the morning after was far more civil, although I wasn't sure whether Donovan was simply taking shots at Matt because he could or was he trying to goad him into a fight. Again, Matt did well holding it together.

Matt's talk with Taylor and her own admissions were honest. She might still love him, but does she trust him? Some of that depends on how well Matt can do talking about valuing, appreciating, and respecting her. Dealing with racism now.

Taylor was on the right track when she noted that he came back now, only since retiring. In other words, if he hadn't decided to retire then but played another two, four years, he wouldn't be in her face now begging for a second chance??

That should stump ole Matty.

You are doing very well telling this. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks ma'am.  I'll be honest.  I've been reading all of your reviews and honestly taking the suggestions to heart.  You guys are some of the best critics and reviewers I've ever talked to.

Title: Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Oops. You snuck a chapter by me.

O-kay. Matthew has put it all out there... nationwide, no less. Personally? I'd strangle his ass. The public explanation, apology, and regret were okay, but now everyone and her mommy will be weighing in with their unsolicited opinions and advise... in a huge way. It shouldn't be about them, just Taylor and Matt.

You can't let Taylor suffer alone. Matt needs to share the grief. Can't a little old lady call him a jerk and hit him with her purse or something?? Just kidding. I'm conflicted, as I imagine Taylor is too.

What if it's a slow news week and the Internet and other networks pick up the story, raising the issue for public discussion?

Let's see what Taylor does next... how long it takes her to call back her mother. ;)

Author's Response: I appreciate your suggestions and your review... I hopw my new chapter answers some of this...

Title: Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Great chapter!!

O-kay... The peanut gallery has weighed in with both Matt and Taylor... and it wasn't as over-bearing, opinionated or heated as it could have been. The texts to Matt were funny as hell, though.

Taylor is giving him a second chance, but not a free pass. They have a ways to go still to re-build the trust and faith she had in him before.

Sorry Donovan. Being just a good buddy isn't that bad.

So, let's see what happens next...

Author's Response:

I decided to keep it light with them.  It's far from over though.

Title: Chapter 20: Chapter 20

I was without internet for a whole week!! I am so behind it isn't funny.

I agree, its a horrible idea for her meeting Miguel at his home. What ever happened to the private room at a five star restuarant?

Author's Response: She became comfortable.

Title: Chapter 21: Chapter 21

Oh my God!!

Poor Matt... Being Taylor's knight. I hope he's okay. I'm also glad he followed her. What was about to happen was to horrid to imagine. It was a bad error in judgment for Taylor to go alone to Miguel's house, especially considering the allegations of preying on young girls. Alone wiht two men? The driveway would still be smoking from the burnt rubber.

Okay, okay... I have to admit to harboring agrudge and wanting Matt to suffer a little... maybe a lot... before reconsiling with Taylor. But he, and she, deserve a break now.

Author's Response: THanks for sticking with it.

Yes, thank God he was spared... in addition to being astute enough to sense Taylor's fear and follow her. I hope no one blames her.

Title: Chapter 23: Chapter 23

GREAT CHAPTER!!

I give Matt lots of credit for having a positive, joyous attitude about the baby.  Taylor seems happy and satisfied with him now and ready to move forward.

Hmm... I see another couple strolling down the aisle really, really soon.

Oh, we are fine with one and a half more... two...

Author's Response: Yeah, I hate for this to come to an end but its time....

Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Holy shit! He dropped her!!!

Chase is a classic abuser. I don't know why Laila can't see it.

I hope she's alright. No... She's physically, emotionally, and spiritually broken.

Hmmm... Did I miss something between Laila and Jameson meeting in his daughter's room and them ending up in the cafe together?? (end chapter 4, beginning of 5)

Tough subject. Great story. On to the next chapter.

WTF??? Robbed? Kidnapped? What the hell is going on?

Lady, you're good! You got me twice... in a row. I can't wait to see what's going on now.

All I know for sure is that Chase ia a creep, Laila is naive and blind, and she's in the wrong place and business if she's seeking the trust, support, and honesty she needs to survive domestic violence and whatever else is going on.

I'm on to the next chapter, miss cliffhanger.

Whew, that was close. Terrifying and ugly but just he wake up slap in the face that Laila needed to snap the hell out of it.

Reality.

What a liberating word for a DV victim.

Now let's see if she sticks to it...

Title: Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Perfect!!!

The beach... the clear blue water, crisp salty air, and sandy ground is a perfect setting to relax and reflect and attempt to move on from the end ing of her marriage. And that's what Laila needed more than being out celebrating wiht the girls.

Laila's thoughts about her and Chase's beginnings as children explains a lot about Chase's history of neglect, and his pain, anger and abuse, but he chose violence instead of getting help. And unlike most, he had resources available to him to get the help he needed.

Laila, naturally, would claim some of he blame. However, Chase was a grown man in control of his own destiny.

It always amazes me the time, energy, and emotion people put into being jealous and envious of the success of others, instaed of simply redirecting and expending all that trying to get their own shit together, make their own success.

Anywho, Jamison and Jade... I like the potential of this relationship for her. They are sweet together and Mister Coltrane-playing Jamison is definitely interested. I should be nice, refreshing... real... for Laila... until the greedy manipulators of her career step in.

P.S. Oh, Mari, welcome to The Chamber.

Author's Response:

So true. Sometimes when things happen in your life, the best thing to do is be alone with your thoughts, contrary to what most people think. Chase has some real mental issues. But, he is also far from being out of Laila's life. Jamison and Jade are my favorite. They are going to do really good things for Laila, show her that there is love and life after divorce.

Thanks for you warm thoughts! haha

Mari,

I'm enjoying reading this story. Happy to see you posting here. I look forward to following it to the end.

Do you think that you can post pics of the other two main characters??? That would be Tootsie and Jade. Tootsie is Laila's "baby" as Jade is Jamison's. ;)

Author's Response:

For you my dear, I'll post pictures of the other 2 mains characters plus some pics of their houses!

xx.

Nice update! Too short, but nice.

Wow. To be able to slip away and have two whole weeks alone, living a "normal" life with two great "normal" people. It was just what Laila needed. As well as Jamison and Jade.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Thank you, thank you for the pics of Jade and Tootsie!!Great choices. Both are too cute. With her beautiful curly hair, the little girl is a perfect match for Justin's Jamison.

Okay, break's over. I can't wait to see what happen's when Laila returns home.

Title: Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Hmm. Nice... until the psycho ex crashed the party.

Oh, so that sick f--- is threatening an innocent 5 yo child, huh? I can't even imagine the fresh hell he intends to bring to poor Laila's life.

Unless there is some confidentiality clause in the divorce settlement (I'm sure she has to pay him off), she should play the media with her story. Beat him to the punch and threaten to cut his money off if he doesn't stay away from her and Jamison and Jade. Also, with all the trifling sleezy crap that goes on in Hollywood, her life after an abusive ex isn't that shocking.

Can't wait to read more.

How sweet.

After the horrors of being with abusive Chase, Liala really could use a healthy relationship. Jamison and Jade give her that. I hope they can hold onto it.

Title: Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Damn! Maria? I didn't see that one coming.

Hmmm... Jade's mother, eh? Some people need to learn the difference between being a mother and being an incubator. I believe she split and left Jamison with the responsibilities of raising and caring for Jade, dealing with her illness alone. So what does she want and why is she doing a school stalking act instead of calling her ex and arranging something like a sensible, responsible adult?

Poor Laila... and Jamison... and Jade. I hink they were starting to mesh like a family. Say, does Laila's psycho ex have something to do with this by chance???

Great chapter. This is an intriguing new twist that you've added. I can't wait to see what sob story Maria has.
