I'm thankful Sergei has found someone to at least take his attention away from Sunny, even if it is only a small bit.  The flashback was just beautiful, it's a testament to your writing abilities that I love a character who has been dead the entire story.

Oh Sergei is still just squeezing the bejeesus out of my heart.  It's so nice to see Sunny and Nikki enjoying time on the beach though.  Admittedly I thought she wasn't going to show for Jacob's big night, but of course, she did.  I should know better.

 Oooh Darla.  This could be problematic.  

 I'm loving this story so much -- my grin was much too big when I saw you had updated.  Hopefully the snow traps you into writing and writing and writing.

Title: Chapter 1: Who they are

"Team Sunshine" is a perfect way to phrase all of this.  Finding out that as soon as Jacob was out of rehab Nikki had sent over the stack of cash and flyers?  Her reaction was exactly what I've come to expect out of Sunshine. 

I also loved Nikki's interaction with Ben in the previous chapters.  I just realized I haven't yet mentioned Ben in a review yet, but I think beyond anything else in this story his relationship with Sunny is my favorite.  Maybe I appreciate it being a big sister myself, but the siblings' love and loyalty to each other is wonderful.  The way you write both of them just adds an incredible depth to the story.

I can't wait to see where you take this story next.

Title: Chapter 26: Gotta Make My Own Way

I'm very glad Anatoly called out Sergei for his less-than-sympathetic shoulder he gave Sunshine after she left.  I'm still holding out hope that he redeems himself a bit more and shows that he's grown -- I haven't lost all faith.

Her thumb brushes the base of his throat.

 He stands up straight and her thumb rests fully on his neck. “You keep it,” she says not moving her hand. 

This is an amazing bit.  AMAZING.  It's wonderful imagery, and followed by him seeing her in the elevator is just great.  I loved it and I wish I could better describe my appreciation for it.
