Author's Chapter Notes:

Hi! Well, I did it. I wrote my first Original Fiction story on the The C!  I must admit, it feels good to have my cherry popped. :)  Since this is my frist short story,  I ask for any and all feedback if you, the dear ladies of the Chamber would deem it necessary.  Actually I would welcome it. I love the interaction. So, I thank you in advance and I hope you enjoy. ~DG

LADY OF THE ROSE

The Louvre secured a major coup this week. The museum obtained a letter linked to one of Marie Antoinette's ladies-in-waiting, the Viscountess Collette Chavelier. The letter, (recently discovered in a secret compartment in Chavelier's desk) was written by the infamous courtesan Aurelia De Royes, who was convicted of the murder of the Viscountess' husband Francois. De Royes, considered the toast of Paris, captured notoriety as being the only courtesan to leave her calling card with men she deemed worthy; only a few men possessed this bragging right. When the Viscount was laid to rest, De Royes delivered multiples of flowers such as foxgloves, orange lilies and black roses parading her hatred for the Viscount. The following note accompanied the bouquet: "These tokens of affection should allow him to make friends with Lucifer rather quickly."

The Le Monde would like to thank Madame Curator Jeannette Blanc-Moreau of the Chavelier Estate and The Louvre for permission to reprint this letter in its entirety.
