Amaris Manning was a woman that was over six feet tall.  Julian Arrington was just a little over five six.  They were attracted to one another from the beginning, but would it be a good fit?  She was sexually repressed.  He was sexually promiscuous. She was looking for a relationship and he was avoiding one at all costs. She was black and he was white.  They were totally opposite in every way, yet their hearts didn't seem to hear their heads talking!

Title: Chapter 28: Chapter 26 Ignorance and Abstinance

After reading a few of your stories, I think I look forward seeing what you have chosen for a chapter title just as much as a I enjoy reading the next installment of the story. I don't know if it comes to you easily or if you have to really brainstorm to come up with such aptly named titles, but it gives your stories a certain something extra. Hard to describe so I guess I'll just say it gives it a certain je ne sais quoi! Or, as my grandma used to say when the food was really good, "you sho did put your foot in it!"

Author's Response:

Thanks Neighbor Lady:  I don't know how I come up with the titles exactly.  Sometimes I try to think of something after I finished writing, but a lot of times it comes to me in the middle of writing a chapter.  I'm glad you like the titles.  LOL.  I'm gonna take a small break, but more is coming soon!

Lorilei Riley is a large black girl who was uprooted at age five when her mother marries and relocates to the small mostly white mining town of Appalachia.  She is the object of ridicule and scorn.  She immediately bonds with Micah Hamilton a young classmate who is also an outsider because of a large growth on his face.

Micah gets a chance at a normal life by having a surgery to remove the growth and Lorilei wonders as they both reach adulthood if Micah has remained with her out of friendship and loyalty or if a guy like him, could really come to  love a plus size girl like her.

Title: In The Eyes of the Beholder

Wow! I didn't hold out much hope of finding an update over the holiday weekend. Talk about a real treat that won't go to your hips.

Anyhow, another great chapter. I feel bad for Lorelei's loss, but it almost seems that Ronald Riley could meet no other fate. I know I wasn't a fan of Ronald and wanted to see him disappear, but now that he is gone my reaction to the characters death is mixed. One part of me wants to say Hooray! They will all be better off without him, but on the otherhand, all life is precious and my reaction is like that of that one relative who shows up at the funeral hollering "Why, Lord, Why!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review.  Yes, Ronald's fate was set, but it didn't make it any easire for Lei who wanted to save him.  Her family is there to help her deal with the loss.

Title: Chapter 2: Intro - Path to a Scream...

That Nathaniel Hawthorne quote is certainly on point. Your story is both interesting and easy to read so you must be doing some "damn hard writing".  Once I read the second paragraph, I knew I was hooked.  You went to work right away building suspense and that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I also noticed that you did a great job of revealing details about Wren's physical description in a way that wasn't cliche. I've read many stories where the character checks themselves out in the mirror and then you get the info dump of height, weight, skin tone etc. There's nothing wrong with cliche, but it was certainly refreshing to see how you chose to skillfully weave that info into the story by having the character acknowledge the physical similarities she shares with the other women.

I'm looking forward to reading more. (o:

Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4

This story just keeps getting better.  I hope that Selma doesn't make any hasty choices that could likely derail their budding relationship. Unless abortion becomes medically necessary, I just don't see him supporting that decision.  I'm glad to see that Terry is more level-headed in how he is choosing to deal with his mother's new companion. Judging by his opinion of Renley's physical attributes, I take it that he is more open-minded when it comes to opposites attracting. I just hope he doesn't develop an attraction to her, but something tells me that their paths may cross again.  Unlike his big brother he seems to understand that his mother has needs.  Now, perhaps Stephen is naturally selfish, but I wonder if he is still grieving the loss of his father. Maybe he had an attitude problem long before Maxie entered the picture, or maybe he really could use some grief counseling. Whatever the case may be, I hope he doesn't try to give his mother an ultimatum. If he does, I hopes she send his narrow behind outside to pick out his own switch!

Author's Response:

Selma is just overwhelmed right now.  She's worried about a pregnancy at her age, how her son's will respond and whether or not she should marry Maxie.  She has a lot on her plate, but she'll figure it out.  Thanks for the review.

Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Stephen's behavior is just so rotten. The disrespectful way he talks to his mother...arghh!  Anyhow, for all his smack talking, I'm glad that he and Maxie now have an understanding.  Dude clearly still has issues, but it wouldn't surprise me if he is the very brother that will be wrapped around the baby's little finger.

Would've loved to have been a fly on the wall to hear the mini lecture the Pastor gave to Selma. Wonder did he offer her prayer. lol

Author's Response:

Yes Stephen was very disrespectful to his mother, and later felt bad about it.  He's a hothead just like Terry said and he's speaks before he thinks at times.  Yes I think that the baby will have all three of them wrapped around it's finger.  LOL  the pastor is a little bit ticked off that his friend's wife has moved on with here life.  I may elaborate more in the near future.  Thanks for the review!
