An ingenue is defined as an artless, innocent, unworldly girl or young woman. She has grown up sheltered from the harsh realities of the world around her by stronger, bolder personalities.

However, no one stays an ingenue for long.

Let's explore the journey that takes place when a girl takes her first real steps toward womanhood, and gains the strength to shield herself. She'll struggle against the very ones who have kept her safe, the women who envy her position, and the men who want to take her innocence, whether for a trophy or for a lifetime.

She will also struggle to confront everything that she has been taught her to fear, and at times wish to return to the relative safety of her ivory tower. However, once she has had a taste of real freedom, and power over her own destiny, there will be no turning back.

If you can hear Paula Abdul's 90s hit playing in your head then you understand exactly what this challenge is about. Your mission - should you choose to accept it- is to chronicle, showcase, highlight the love affair or hate to love evolution of one couple. It can be fanfiction, existing original characters, or a new pair sparked by the concept of this challenge. Dark and dramatic pieces are welcome. Fluff and cuteness beyond belief is also accepted.

This month as we move into the holiday season, the time of year when we come together with those we love, the Chamber wants to challenge our writers and some readers too, to pen a tale about our brave military heroes who will be returning home from the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.

All of us here have either seen our real life GI Joes moving quickly through the airport; or perhaps he is the man in your life, who is on his way back to you.   Who doesn't love a man in uniform?

The story can be a fanfic or an original piece, just get writing as we honor our brave, loyal, sexy, military men. Are you up for the challenge?

Don't you remember your first love?  That warm, fuzzy feeling you got everytime you saw him.  Well, now it's time to write a story about teenage love.  The story could include that one high school sweetheart, your first boyfriend/love, or that one famous guy that you were lucky enough to have a connection with.  The stories could be about anything as long as the characters are teenagers.

We're all about the marrieds this month at The Chamber. Original or fanfiction, tell us a story about a couple that has taken that ultimate step. Is it happily married bliss or their own personal hell? How the story ends is up to you, just so long as your leading lady has ring on her finger.

Women can never be the players, the villians or the bosses. This challenge more about breaking gender barriers. What if the woman was the crime boss? The the killer? the savior? The heart breaker? The women in this challenge are NOT the damsels in distress, they don't care what anyone thinks of them, they take what they want, and they never tie sex and emotions together. they are the alpha females, and they never apologize for it.

This month, we’re challenging our authors to explore the good and bad side of the story. The challenge is to use one of seven deadly sins and the seven heavenly virtues for the theme of your story. Pit charity against greed, contrast wrath with justice in a fan fiction or original story, mix and match as much as you like. Just make sure the tale is based on the two prompts from our lists. This month, The Chamber wants our members to take a break from routine. We’re asking authors to post a story that incorporates something you’ve never done before. It’s time to write that genre you’ve wanted to try, that new show you’ve never tackled, or a heroine that’s unlike any you’ve created before. Or maybe your something new is posting that first story and finally becoming a Chamber author.

Fanfic or original, it’s up to you. Just make sure there’s something readers can’t find in your previous work. We’re breaking new ground here at The Chamber. Are you ready for the challenge?
