I wasn't expecting to love this story. But shoot, you got me addicted. It sounds like a great story and I can't wait for more. I really like the relationship between Lei and Micah. I get the feeling Micah might outgrow Lei---but maybe he'll surprise me and they'll stick together to the end. I love Betsy---she's a cool ass mom. She's a good person and I can see her being a real hero in the story for Joe Bob's family. I'd even like to find out more about her two older children.

Ms. B. I must say sista gurl your have done it again. You have started anothr winner imo. What I love about your writing is that your characters are real and not perfect but have some faul in some way.
No that Jessica is truly an asshole and like Micah said no use in getting angry and wasting his breath she still going to be a racist asshole it was breed in her. And she pretty now and may even grow up to be beautiful but beauty don't last always and karmas a bitch even to beautiful people.
Joe Bob is such a sweetie and all man. He takes care of his business and he owns the BP and has a shop for mechanic so they will be alright. Twin boys I love it and Candance is doing well with no complications which is also good. May be jumping ahead but how did Joe's mom and brother take his relationship and marriage to a brown woman *wink*

P.S. I know you have to go back and edit but wanted to point out in the paragraph for September 1995 you have Lorilei Edmonds instead of Riley and was it 2yrs later that Micah had the surgery?

Hey Kat: Yeah, I know I have to go back and do some edits. I spelled Lorilei's name wrong in some places. Michal didn't have the surgery right away because his mom's resistance had to be worn down and she had to come to trust Sabrina with her baby. I'll talk more about that as I tell Micah's point of view.
I have a busy day today (dress final fitting and cleaning my house) so I may be able to do the edits but I doubt if I'll be able to get another chapter out until after the wedding is over.

This is just the sweetest story! I love it! My insides has melted and that's just from reading the first chapter! I love Micah and Lei's characters. I also liked that we readers got to know Joe Bob a little more and his thoughts. I can't wait to read more. I am hooked! This might be my favorite story of yours yet.

Another damn winner!
Kids are cruel, I know because I used to get picked on for my size. All thru school I was one of the tallest and biggest girls there. Half were either scared of me and the other half were just damn stupid to know any better.
So I used to do like Lei and fight my battles with my fists and according to my tight group of friends I was the protector and the enforcer in some cases.
I hope that when Micah gets older, that he don't start smelling himself and forget about his girl Lei. I hope that Micah don't begin to follow the crowd. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad that you can relate to Lei. Kids are cruel. Micah will always love Lei, but Lei starts believing society's hype and won't beleive it. That's the central part of this story. I haven't gotten there yet because I wanted to do the background history of them growing up together.
I found myself asking, what if a beautful, handsome young man loved a woman society deemed not worthy? What if he was popular and everyone wanted to know what he saw in her. Thus "In the Eye of the Beholder was conceived.

I agree with the other reviewer...I like the direction this story is taking...what will happen when the scars are removed? What will happen when he no longer needs her to be his protector? Their friendship and possible budding romance will be tested. Good story..can't wait to read the update

Just like i knew ithis story is just wonderful damn kids are so cruel and the grown people are no better you should teach your children that bullying is not right but those damn alley bats are just insufferiable especially that littl sassy mean ass jessica she is such an ugly person no matter what she looks like on the outside; love me some lei she is so sweel and little micah he such a shy child so happy that lei aunt was able to get micah removal surgery on his face.. ok what can i say about joe bob newton, he is such a wonderful husband and a great papa love candice tale on how she reel that man in and love her take charge sister!!!!

LOL! Thanks for the review. I've had this story in my head for a couple weeks. Why does society think that larger dark women are not attractive? I'm going to tackle that myth in this story.
