Title: Them.

I want to punch jake and Monica in the face. Jake for string Monica slinging knowing he still has feelings for Sierra and Monica for not trusting her gut and leaving jake alone because he obviously can't get his life together and likes getting his heart stepped on. Sierra makes my left eye twitch but I can't even be mad at her because she was selfish and messed up from the beginning. When people show you who they are believe them.

Title: One Last Time.

I like ths!  I wasn't sure where it was going to go, but it turned out better than I imagined it would!  And you've set it up really nicely for a sequel if that's what you want to do, with Sierra starting a new life in Arizona, only to find out she was with child a month or so later.  Then deciding if she tells Jake or waits a few years for a chance meeting.  I can see it already, lol.

Anyway, good job!  Looking forward to reading your other books :)

It was a great story. Even if in my opinion Jake forgave Finch too easily... I can't wait to read Maksim's story, I hope it will contain the continuation of Jake/Sierra 's journey, I can't get enough of them !! Great job !!

Title: ...And Then.

Thanks for the new chapter. Great writing. I knew Sierra would try and do something like that, but it didn't turn out oo bad. Good that Maksim is handling Viktor. And it was good to learn more about the reason why he left and how he viewed everything around him. I really like this character, I wouldn't mind reading more about him after this story is wrapped.

So, now, how about Sierra and Jake. Love those two, I would love for them to be able to heal and move on now, whether together or each on one's own.

Title: Them.

Great characters, great drama! Great plot! Bravo!

Why did Monica allow herself to be the rebound chick?

Will Finch make a move on Deena? What is Neema and Mahksim's story? Who was the fiancée? What did Kazimar have to do with Sierra's parents? Did he have Sierra's mom kidnapped? Would really like to have the backstory before you wrap it all up.

Author's Response:

It was told in an earlier chapter why Kazimar did what he did to Sierra's parents. It all goes back to her dad owing him money. And you'll get more of Neema and Maksim's backstory in the next chapter. Thanks for reading!

Thank God that Maksim was there as Sierra would"ve been dead.  Viktor is evil and really should die. Neema survived the attack maybe now they can both be happy.  Will jake be apart of Sierra"s happiness.  Will Jake be honest with Monica about his lack of love for her? So good!

All those questions will be answered. Thanks for reading!

Title: Them.

FINCH  At first I was really disgusted at what Finch did.  Monica was unnecessarily hurt and he didn't give his friend, Jake, a chance to come clean.  But, after some time to calm, I considered a couple of things. Oh, I still think Finch was out of order, but he may have felt pushed to.

First, Finch was said to be the one always trying to encourage Jake to take Monica seriously.  The one time he mentioned an interest in her was more in the nature of his usual 'horndog spotting an attractive woman' than that of a man with ideas of a relationship. So I'm not really convinced that jealousy was his reason.

Secondly, Finch has gone through this cycle with Jake and Sierra from the beginning.  He's seen Jake down, depressed, not sleeping, crying, not eating--all the negative effects of his being with Sierra and he's usually been the one there to hold Jake up, to see Jake through until the next time.  This last period has seen Jake more like his 'old self' his pre-Sierra self and for Finch to discover that Jake had literally gotten back in bed with Sierra again, in spite of all the good in his life, was probably the last straw.  And he does like Monica so he wouldn't want to see her dragged into anything similar with Jake.

Last, when he asked Jake if he planned to tell Monica, Jake said he'd tell her what she needed to know.  Finch should have given him the chance to come clean on his own, but since Jake waited all day to go see her, maybe Finch figured that he wasn't going to tell her anything.  Granted a day is not that long, but Finch knows his friend.  In fact, Finch's final remark to Jake after the fight at the garage (“Y’all belong together. I did you a favor. You should thank me!”) indicates to me at least, that it was more about Finch being sick of the merry-go-round and wanting to cut the lines so everybody could just admit what is rather than drawing things out, than it was about getting with Monica.  He still calls her 'your girlfriend' and all his remarks are framed in reference to Jake and not how what Jake did affected Monica.

So I'm thinking that Jake was less about stabbing his friend in the back than he was about forcing Jake to face up to what he is doing, what he wants--because it certainly isn't Monica.  Finch is sick of the on-again, off-again that leaves his friend in a bad place and Finch in a bad place because Jake is his friend.  So he just made sure they cut to the chase.  If Jake wants Sierra, Finch was going to make sure that Sierra was his only option in a way that, from his viewpoint, did the least damage to the most people.  In the end, even Jake admits, if only to himself, that Finch wasn't really wrong: "Years worth of friendship was over because of his fuck up. (Jake) knew he had no one else to blame but himself, but dammit he didn’t want to admit that."

Was Finch right?  Well, no.  But I at least don't think he had malicious intent when he did what he did.

Author's Response:

I really enjoyed your views on these characters. Thank you so much for reading.

Title: Them.

Okay, now that the rant is out of the way.

JAKE  When is this dude going to learn to be honest--starting with himself?  At least he has the decency to let Monica go, but he owed her the truth and not just what would put him in the best light.  I hope he plans either do some unflinchingly honest soul-searching on his own or get some help addressing his actions and motivations.  He needs to decide if he want Sierra, warts and all, or if he want to finally let her go.  This push-pull, 'I want her but don't want to want her because she hurts me' is tired.  Either talk the past out together, forgive and let it go so you can move forward together if that's what you both want; or let her go--really let her go.

MONICA   I feel for her, but she tried, it didn't work out and now she can move on.  She has come across to me as fairly level-headed so I have confidence that this breakup won't derail her like Jake's did him.

SIERRA   Good for her that she didn't use.  Good for her that she is working to stay sober.  Not good that she would take something that Jake wasn't free to offer.  Throwing Monica's name in at the last minute doesn't excuse you.  You were sober this time and not suffering from the after-affects of anything so you could have called a halt.  In general, Sierra is learning to become more honest with herself...I hope that trend continues.  I also hope that she doesn't try to hurt/kill Viktor.  She doesn't have the strength or the resources to do that and it could end in disaster.  I'd hate for him to get her back under his physical control and force her to use again.

NEEMA & MAKSIM  I am intrigued by the glimpses into Maksim and Neema's history.  I hope we get see see more of how their families and they are entwined.

Thanks for the update!  :)

Title: Them.

Rant: One thing that a lot of reviewers keep bringing up/stating, but which is not true according to the text is that Monica 'went after' Jake as soon as he was free.

The girl did not go after him!  Even when she knew that Jake wasn't seeing Sierra anymore, she didn't call him or try to see him.  She did not go to that garage to see him.  It's clear from the conversation that she didn't know he was there.  She came to get her car fixed as Finch had promised he would do.

JAKE was the one that pushed to make it something more. JAKE called her. JAKE asked her out. JAKE told her he liked her. JAKE flirted and asked her to give him a chance...told her that he wanted to see where they could go, but wanted to take it slow. JAKE gave her every indication that he was moving on--including laughing and being free in a way he had not been since shortly after he and Sierrra hooked up.

It's amazing to me that Sierra gets all kinds of support in spite of the harm she has done (and she should because she is trying to do/be better), even when some of that harm was deliberate, but most have nothing but blame for Monica for trying to sieze a bit of happiness for herself when the chance was OFFERED to her.  She hasn't been some desperate somebody chasing behind Jake until she got him.  She was a friend when he needed one--and he most assuredly need one when he was with Sierra--and she let him be when the two broke up and he stopped communicating with her.

How is it okay for Jake to have been caught in this sick cycle of love for years with a woman who couldn't love him because she couldn't love herself, but Monica is pathetic because she handled her unrequited love in a much healthier way?  She took the chance for happiness that was offered and now that it hasn't worked out she can move on--without regret or the 'what if' questions that she might otherwise have had.  If we are going to condemn her then we also need to condemn Jake for being a weak, co-dependent, ineffectual lapdog to Sierra who was willing to use the affection of a decent woman to make himself feel better and to mask the fact that he is still panting behind a woman who supposedly isn't trying to be with him.

Fair is fair.

Title: The Need to Know.

Love your story and its characters. They read so true to reality with all their human failings and actions. I particularly like Sierra. Drug addiction is not an easy ride to be on, and that coupled with all the issues of her past, is potent mix for the years of abuse she inflicted on herself. She is at a point where she actually stopped herself and sought Jake's help or should I say comfort. And to me that is a victory. I do understand her need for revenge. Viktor is a hateful and vicious character and one cannot help but want him to go down in a manner befitting his violent lifestyle. However here's to hoping he doesnt take Sierra down with him. Someone esle should get their hands dirty. Its pity his father is at death's door because both of them taking out each other would have been kismet.

I dont agree with Finch's action. The way I read it, he has proven that he doesnt place much value on his friendship with Jake. It's one thing to tell Monica the whole truth after Jake's face time with her, but to do so before shows the need to do maximum damage. Friends don't judge in such a manner and are not as brutal, unless of course they have a god complex. Seems to me that he was delivering punishment, but to whom - to Jake who has always turned to and protected Sierra. Or was it to Monica who always had her sights on Jake and not him. And his dislike of Sierra borders on hate or is it something else? One thing for sure I am glad I do not have a friend like Finch! Oh how I wish Deena was there to crack him another punch when he called her friend a crack whore. Smh

And as for Jake, he needs to sit and examine his shit. This time Sierra turned to him for support before she did drugs. That should account for something. And she did warn him by mentioning Monica's name when they were in the thick of things. Instead, he is too damn guilty about his past actions to see the difference and to examine and own up to his feelings. A hot mess indeed...

Great read! Thanks...

Title: The Need to Know.

Thnaks for pudating this story and for the new chapters.

Sooooo....Sienna and Jake went at it again...This a pretty shitty situation but it felt so right to me, those two together like that, with Sienna being sober...I am not necessarily rooting for them to get back together, but I wouldn't mind if they did. Sienna looks to be getting better, and after their talk at her house, it seems lke they finally both had closure about their previous relationship. Now, they may be ready to try and build a new relationship. May be not as lovers (now that they kind of scratched that itch, the sexual tension linked to past memory can calm down), but as deeply connected friends. I would hope for them to built something like a new friendship.

Thats being said, Jake fucked up big time, that's for sure. And he has no one else to blame but himself. He took the coward way wanting to breakup with Monica without telling her what he did. And he deserved every puches he got, from Monica and Finch.

Now, Monica, girl, sorry to tell you tha 'cause I am sure you truly loved the guy and fell deeply hurt, but...you had it coming too; Like seriously, you knew it, right? You knew it, even before you heard your freaking boyfriend whispering his ex's name while sleeping, right? You knew it because you had known Jake for a long time before hooking up with him, you witnessed everything that happened between the two of them, how many times he let her come back and usehim, how much he loved her, how much he was in love with her. You freaking knew it girl! And yet, you went after him not even 2 seconds after he decided to let her go. And then the sleep whispering, as if it wasn't red enough as a herring, as if it wasn't his subconsious self who was telling YOU what he felt. But you chose to ignore what you knew, deep down, you chose to take as much as you could from that relationship, despite knowing that Jake wasn't 100 %, couldn't be 100 % . So, just like him, ultimately, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Also, Finch, you did the right thing : as a friend to Monica and Jake who you didn't allow to behave like a punk ass bitch. But, man, now you got to stop calling Sienna names : sure she messed up big time and hurt people you love, but a) Jake and Monica were perfectly able to face her and tel her what they needed to tell her, and b) as far as I know she never did anything to YOU. Stop I am going to need for you to stop the name calling and "whore" shaming.

Now Sienna, girl, don't go and do something stupid. I thought you had done enough of that shit in your young life already. Let Maksim handle that piece of shit named Victor. Cause yonly him can handle him right.

Lastly, I am shipping Neema and Maksim hard. Not sure it is the healthiest thing to do, considering how much bad blood there is between those 2 families and I found the all hero-worshipping a tad creepy, but I like Maksim and I wouldn't mind learning more about him and having him getting some good ol' loving too.

Title: The Need to Know.

Sierra is the least perfect character, but she is the one I love the most and the one I root for the most because she is the one who keeps on fighting, no matter what. Everytime something knock her down or she knocks herself down, she keeps going, even if she has to crawl to keep moving. I just love that about her. I know to most people, it doesn't look like Sierra is fighting at all and some way say that's the main problem with her because is not fighting the way or how they want. But to me she is fighting and have always been fighting to survive even when she was losing the battle. I want her to love herself and than find real, true love, I'm not sure if that will be with Jake,

Finch was dead, dead wrong in telling Monica. Finch's actions in this chapter was the actions of an enemy, not a friend. Jake didn't destory the friendship, Finch did and in the long run, it is better for Jake to lose this friendship, than to have a friend who can do such thing to him. I understand that Finch loves Monica and that Monica is his friend too but his action was the action of a jealous, and bitter man. I hope Monica doesn't get with him, because if he can do something like this to a friend he called his best-friend for yrs, what will he do if they were together and she did something to hurt him. Yeah,  Monica deserves better than Finch.

Moncia did what most people do when they want something, she went after it and blinded herself to all the signs that told her it wasn't a good idea. That doesn't make her bad or good, just human. I don't blame her for taking her chance with Jake when he was free. I don't blame her for trying to hold onto the man she loves. I don't blame her for being angry at Jake for sleeping with Sierra, Jake deserves that anger and punch. I hope Monica find her own happiness one day. I hope she finds a man who will love her without holding back and she will be his #1 always, no matter what.  Just like I'm rooting for Sierra, I'm rooting for Monica too because she is/was fighting for her happiness.

Maksim and Neema are really interesting, I would love to read a story about them.

Jake, Jake, he is a man in love with a woman he doesn't want to love. That is painful. I feel for him. I hope someday he can either learn to fully accept the woman he loves and forgive her in order to be with her or he can learn to live with that love without letting it control his happiness.

Title: The Need to Know.

I'm sorry but Finch & Definitely Monica is the ones to blame in this situation. They act like they weren't around for the whole saga of the Jake & Sierra relationship. It's obvious they have unfinished business and love still lingeres there. Hell, Monica new this much because she wouldn't of confronted Sierra to stay away if there wasn't something there. Monica brought this whole thing on herself, I can't stand those "wait around" chicks. It's pathetic IMO, you can't just stick around and hope one day this dude will love you... especially when he loved another person so much that not even her being on drugs and cheating stopped him from being with her. Monica was blinded by her own wants even though the truth was staring dead in her face

And Finch has no concept of Guy Code, no matter what went down he should of had his boys back, and if he wanted Monica, all he had to do was tell jake and I'm sure he wouldn't of started shit with her. He saw this whole thing coming, I don't get why he was so pissed. Finch is a bad friend, he puts Jake down practically every time he see's him, calls the person he loves horrible names, and now backstabb's him. Friends don't do that, no matter how frustrating your friend's decisions are you never throw it back in their face. You can tell them your opinion but never ever force it upon them because at the end of the day it's their own decision to make. The test is how loyal can you be after that desicion. For me there is no love lost in that friendship.

Also does anyone get that being on drugs is a disease. Yes at first it's a choice but there comes a point were it gets so bad that it's a disease that is extremely hard to get rid of. That's why I wasn't shocked when Sierra bought drugs and almost relapse. I was very glad she didn't but it was understandable why she did it. I just hate that Jake's "closest" friends keep calling her a crack whore when they don't know shit about her disease or what she's been through.

Maksim seems really interesting to me. I would love to learn more about him and neema's relationship. I don't know if they have a thing going on but I kind of want them to. There is just something about Maksim.

Now for Sierra, the girl is all kinds of screwed up but for some reason I'm rooting for her. I want all of her hopes and dreams to come true. I want her to get her revenge, I want her to get her man back, and I want her to beat her addiction. I think your doing a great job writing her, because someone I should hate is actually someone I really care for. Only a great writer can get you to sympathize with such a screwed up character lol. I want her and Jake to have their happy ending but her buying a gun to kill viktor doesn't seem like such good path for it. Can I hope for her kill him and no one ever find out lol. This story is really really good, I can't wait for your next update.

Title: The Need to Know.

Oh, I'm sad in advance knowing there are only 2 chapters left....When it's good you want it to last, but the journey's fantastic so...

Am I in the twilight zone or what?! Why is everybody judging Jake for not using protection during sex? Am I the only one who read the contrary?! Let's quote the previous chapter: " Jake reached for the condom in the nightstand table. She snatch it out of his hand tearing it open with her teeth. She rolled the latex over his cock." And "He groaned releasing himself into the condom before falling, spent on top of her and rolling away." He did, so there's no big deal...

Finch, Finch, Finch...You traitor! How could this so called friend do that?! Indeed, objectively, Jake was wrong cheating on his girlfriend and contemplating not to tell her to make things easier. BUT, a real good friend, whether he has the hots for his friend's girl or not, should have advised him otherwise or given him time to do the right things with an ultimatum. Here, Finch acted like a simple douch, clouded by his desire for Monica. He was wrong and just deserves the loss of their friendship (I hope he'll come to realize later because now he isn't apologetic at all!) and Monica's cold shoulder (let's just hope...). To sum up, let's just hope that he'll realize that his betrayal cost him everything, ah ah ah (hyena laugh).

I'm not worried about Monica, she saw it coming, tried to last, but lost. Like Jake said, he has never really been into that relationship to the point that he hesitate to call it a relationship! She has been treated like crap, but she'll be fine.

Maksim must stop Sienna before she does something stupid. She knows that Viktor hurt Neema to get to Maksim, she just had to trust him for the revenge, she's not strong enough!! The idea of her and Neema moving is not bad at all. They need fresh air. I can't wait toread about Viktor's downfall, yac! yac !yac! (hyena's chuckle).

Great job!

Okay, Finch was wrong, you do not tell business that isn't yours to tell.  Then he didn't even wait a day before blabbing his big mouth.  That is suppose to be your friend, hell naw, Jake was right, he wanted monica and she was obsessed with Jake so this way he gets her and if he does, I hope he feels guilty about it.  Yes, Jake screwed up but plenty of people in relationships have done worse and haven't fallen apart.  I am about tired of Everyone putting Sierra down.  Yes she was addicted to drugs and she did horrible things which people do when they are addicted to drugs and alcohol etc.  I want to see if she is trying to stay off of it which she did.  She went back to what was comfort in times of stress, again what we all do.  Don't we reach for that comfort food, routine or something if we are dealing with life issues.  She is trying to stop and never go back again, can someone provide her some damn support vs knocking her down every time she tries to stand up.  She needs to move out of that area because they will not let her forget her mistakes and that is the last thing she needs.  You don't want someone always bringing up your past mistakes that you have learned from, why do her that way.  She is going after Viktor because he has hurt her, Jake and now her last strongest supporter.  I still would like for her to be with Maksim because he won't judge her for her past.  All of them need Jesus.  Sorry for the rant but had to comment.  Good story.

Title: The Need to Know.

I feel like Finch overstepped his bounds in this chapter. The people on the outside can say what they want but you can't force anyone to do what you think is right. You definitely don't take matters into your own hands like he did with Monica. Its not up to Finch to say what Jake should or shouldn't do.

Right or wrong its up to Jake to decide his own life. His fuck ups are his alone to make. Although Finch my love his friends he was dead ass wrong for butting in on something that wasn't his business to begin with.

I don't believe because Sierra is an addict means there is no possible way for her and Jake to work. I think they slept together when they shouldn't have but hell everyone is judging the addict without knowing the story behind the addiction.
