Duh, Gabriel! He's finally seeing for himself what Adele went through.  He'a a little thick, but I still like him with Adele.  Also, I think Max is gay. Just a vibe, but I'm probably wrong. lol

So Gabriel is finally beginning to understand the part he played in the struggles Adele may have had with Northfields.  More importantly I hope he begins to understand her reluctance to be more than friends with him.  I hope he feels terribly and is moved to really change.  I think his relationship with Adele has made him more sensitive to see Surinder's situation and to stop excusing Humphrey's bullying tactics.  But what will he do now..Okay, so Gabriel now has a clue since Humphrey's spelled out his appalling comments about Adele for him...he seems to feel remorse, but will this remorse transmit to true change in Gabriel's life...Good story!  

Interesting update! Seems like Adele's conversation gave him food for thought. It's good to see him reflective about his words and actions....

Finally, Gabe's light bulb is flickering, but will explode once he meets with Humphrey--who is sure to say something nasty about Adele.  

Gabe's chances with Adele will improve greatly if he leaves the company that treated her so badly.  It would be hard to impossible to date someone willing to stay under the wing of those who mistreated me.    

Oh my! There's some chemistry going on up in here!  Gabe wants Adele and nothing is going to stop him--it's like she soothes his savage beast.  

Now I am afraid he is going to be in for a rude awakening with his family and work place, bc they are not going to be happy.  Oh and wasn't Gabe up for partner? Where does Adele stand, being that she is with the competition and does not look like the others.  

Now we are getting to the crux of the matter!  Gabriel is loathe to acknowledge his privilege, a privilege out of reach to Adele, yet he wants to bring her into a world in which she can never truthfully exist.  He's just beginning to think about it but the fact that he says he is loathe to know how to overcome the issue shows his being clueless reigns supreme.  I so don't like this guy, in spite of his trying, because he's so stupid!  His privilege is so automatic that he has not ever questioned it or its effects on those who don't "fit", hence his being loathe to change it.  I am so glad Adele asked the question about his attraction to her before she changed her appearance!  Now Gabriel is forced to confront a harsh truth that is the true barrier to his relationship with Adele.  However, it's more than being a barrier to his relationship with Adele, it's a barrier that affects the lives of the excluded candidates who in spite of their merit, don't fit the physical privileged mold.  I love Adele for being strong and standing up for herself not to fall for Gabriel in spite of her attraction to him.  She wants a man with whom she feels comfortable in knowing he wants to be with the real Adele, the beautiful person she has always been.  That's the difference between Max and Gabriel.  Max always saw the beauty within Adele that Gabriel was loathe to acknowledge until she changed her appearance.  I love this book!  Excellent work!

Yes, Adele finally broke it down to Gabe, and he listened and thought about it.Adele you have me proud! 

Love Max!!  Adele quit plwying with Gabe.  Tell the man how hearing his words affected you. Sheesh!!

'Gabriel felt shame trying...but mentally shook it away"  He still hasn't learned., but he will.

I like how you write the story to where the important parts are there--you just have tos ee them.  I read this chapter twice and found things I had overlook, for example, When Dennis told him it wasn't their job to go easy on Adele, but basically Gabe & Co. job to protect her--and they failed, Gabe couldn't hide his shock.  

Adele is protecting herself and putting him off (hell, she move him to the friend zone), bc Gabe has shown from the very beginning his true colors---hopefully this leopard can change his spots.  I would continue to evade him because even with Dennis enligtening him about the positive aspects a diverse workforce can bring, Gabe still seems slow on the uptake.  If he stays and takes that promotion, Adele should never speak to him again and keep it moving.  

Great chapter! Do I see a love triangle in the making??? Can't wait for the next update.

This story is too real. I understand why it would be hard for Adele to want to be in a relationship with a man who benefits from that white male dominated industry and is indifferent towards how they treat others. I've been there and in the end of the day I couldn't date him. I couldn't respect his indifference and his 'It was my fault.'  It's hard to get involved with a colleague in an competitive environment like that. Especially when you're set up to fail. I really liked the guy but I couldn't be with someone when I'm a little ashamed about it. Mainly because he helped and represented the systemic problems. Like Adele I left and went to a place that appreciated my talents and made room for me to grow. Not just use me for my talents. The guy and I didn't end up together because who they represent sadly matters to. Needless to say I totally support Adele being cautious. If Gabriel gets what he wants from her without learning than she is accepting the system.

Adele your still angry at Christian but he doesn't know that you heard what he said.  Make up your mind Adele, either you are letting him or kickibg him to the curb? Quit playing with the man.
