The jargon makes it very professional and believable. I would suggest longer chapters just because it allows us to really become invested in what is happening. The short chapters feel too cut off, so by time I'm getting into it it's already over.

That was so sad, I was tearing up, I know the feeling of having to put a pet down after having them for so many yrs.
I do hope that you write from Clark's POV b/c I MO he was attracted to Bena when he first saw her.

JD, that poem, Brilliant. It was sad yet joyful. I have not had a pet since I was a child (I think the death of my pet scarred me for life), it's heartening that she might be waiting for me.
Ruger, le sigh.
The two main characters seem like really good people and not in any saccharin way, but just decent people, who might have their flaws like the rest of us, but at the core, good and decent. I like that.
Chica, you are killing it. Every update is greatly appreciated. You have a gift. Nuture it. Congrats on graduation and going into a profession that you can only make better. Good on you, Chica.

OMG. I have 3 dogs -10,9 and 2.5 I just looked at the older 2 with tears in my eyes because after i read that poem. That is so sweet. It reminds me of prayers my mom wouldnsay over our animals that passed away. I cannot wait to see where the relationship betwern Clark and Dena goes from here. Congrats on graduation and the police academy!

I love this--so sad, but the characters are liable right away. She is able to empathize with the owner and the pet, while Clark shows how caring he is and I like that he shows his feelings. I am so looking forward to more.

I'm really interested in this story. You referred to Ruger being 14 in the beginning and then 16 later. Other than that, great start at writing an engrossing story.
