Borin was salty, but he'll get over it. We still don't know what he might do.
I love that Seras has Nan as a confidant like she has in Bear. It's good to have an extra pair of eyes and brain watching her back. Which means also keeping her eye on Claire.
Guess we'll see whaty happens with Seras and her magic.

THRILLING CHAPTER!!!
I love me a smart heroine!! This showed me Seras is a smart bitch. And I mean that in the best sense of the term! Seras' mother's harsh lessons are what she herself learned too late in life! But she did her damndest to teach this daughter she had complicated feeling over these lessons through training, cunning and dicernment of the people around her and the situations around her. To rely on herself and her gut, not just what she sees and hears; and not buy into the whole weak female crap!
If Borin doesn't readjust his thinking after this, he's a fool! She's more than his match as a queen! She can stand on her own two feet! And they're actually more aligned as rulers for his people than probably what he even thought. They both truly have a heart for the people.
Now Seras....SO MUCH MORE than even her mother realized about her! Her magic's conflict within her, but came through in a stunning way when needed. She made the two polar opposites work together within her! And that's without much handling of any of her magic, really. My hope is that her two magics will somehow stop the spread of the poison becauseit seems like Seras is going to be a powerful magic-wielder.
I'm so excited about that particular turn of events!!

Just caught up with the last three chapters. There's a LOT of subtext going on with these folks! Betrayal, backstabbing, and possibly, attempted murder, is probably on tap with this bunch!
I understand Seras mother better now. I hurt for her and how she had to survive, but I understand her motives. She did the best she knew how with Seras. It doesn't help the longing Seras had for her mother, but there it is. And I think Seras is probably going to end up being all that her mother wanted her to be in the end. What she never could. My hope is that she's as smart and cunning as her mother ever was about herself and her situation.
Borin and Fendrel: I get their mother beat that whole perfection thing into them; which was motivated out of grief for the death of her child, so that's all so sad and wrong anyway, but is Borin really gonna do her like that?! And to not even talk to her and tell her what's happening, but instead try to dump her as fast as he can is unacceptable. While, in the meantime, he's leaving her open to happen so many covert and overt attacks from those closest to them.
Fenddrel: I just don't understand why being a spare is such a burden! He's too dumb to realize you get all the royalty perks and really none of the responsibility of the heir! He can't muster enough to be a decent brother and a proper prince. Or a decent human being for that matter. Ridiculous!
