That was so hot. And not to mention his words afterwards. Does he really mean them? Or was it just said in a moment of passion after hot sex? I think he really means them...I think dude was "gone" soon after they first met, lol. LOVE Tristen! Love him.
I want to address a few other things: I love James...but she has some mouth on her...can't be mad at her though she was punching/hitting my boy Tristen a little too much. I swear I would have been mad at the cavemen routine but it only made Tristen hotter than hot, lol. I understand why James was upset but what was she thinking jumping out of that car like that? At night and in the middle of traffic no less. How long would she have stayed at the pool? I supposed she figured that Tristen would find her. Nice setup for the action that took place there by the way. What happens next? Round two at his place? Maybe they will make hot passionate love next. I noticed no protection was used...so what will that mean?
Finally, poor Victor...he really did seem like a good guy...perhaps he will find a nice girl that can return his feelings.

First, I love long reviews! Now onto my response.
Tristen definitely meant what he said and I agree that he fell hard for her in the beginning, but kept it at bay because he was afraid to that he would frighten her away. As for James, there is no denying that she was pissed. She doesn't like to be manhandled at all and doesn't take it lightly when it does happen -- the only exception being Melvin in the Lesson Learned chapter, but I think she was too caught up in the moment. I know that I wouldn't hit my Frenchy, LOL!
Well Tristen wasn't thinking rationally, I don't think she was thinking rationally. I think she just wanted to get out of the car and get away from him before she said something that she didn't mean, but great observation about her figuring that Tristen would find her eventually. And another good observation about the condom. :3
As for what happens next, well only the next update can tell! And Victor is a sweet guy, I thinking about hooking him up with one of my characters. ;P Thank you for the review.

MJ, I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this last chapter. It was H.O.T.T.T. TO DEF! Very sexy! I kept waiting with bated breath for something – like Victor to be a prick and try to harm her or, someone – like Trigger’s funky ass - to ruin the scene as often happens in shows or stories but how very pleasantly surprised I was that they connected without pause…FINALLY! Lol
As they recovered in the aftermath, Tristen looked down into the tired but satisfied face of James Binton and breathed, “I love you.”
And that was the cherry on top!
Now here I sit with more anticipation of what will happen next…particularly James’ reaction to Tristan’s declaration. Will she return his sentiment? Will she run from the inevitable, constantly allowing negativity to drag her through life? Something tells me Tristan needs her just as much as James needs him and I hope they continue on this path to make their relationship a reality.

LOL! I know what you mean about shows and stories with interruptions just when the good stuff is about to happen. Sometimes, it adds comic relief, but I'll mean that I have cussed sometimes because of it! Knowing James, she will probably try to dance around his declaration of love for a little while, but knowing Tristen, he will make sure that she has to face it and he will tell her those three words over and over until it's wired in her brain. :)

I just have to make a comment about the banners you've done MJ. They are really dope and I like how you did Candy banner as well. They are crisp and actually look like a legit book cover or banner :). You must be doing some type of designing in school lol. Do you use Adobe Illustrator?
Author's Response: Thank you. :) Actually, my major (early childhood education) is no where near graphic designing, but I self-taught myself and I love it because it's a great way to get my creative juices flowing. I use Photoshop CS4 to make my banners.

Hmm... that was different and hot for their first time.
Tristen and James are really good together. He takes her outburst in stride and she bashes sense into his head when he needs it. They have added new twists to "make-up sex."
I hope James, with all her scars and bad memories does not leave his declaration of love hanging in thin air. I guess she'll think that he ruined a perfect moment. What a role reversal.

Originally, I was going to have their first time be soft and sensual, but something made me want to try something different because they will have plenty of times to be sensual. :) LOL, they did take make-up to the next level. As for Tristen confessing his love to her, James might dodge that for a little while, but knowing Tristen, she isn't going to be able to dance around it for long.
I didn't realize it until you mentioned it, but what Tristen did was quite a role reversal! Normally, it's the woman that says it, but this isn't a normal story, lol! Thank you for your review!

I guess I should stop reading and send you some love for this harrowing but sweet "love" story.
First, I'm still processing the monsters Pearl and Charles. They are actually simple in their complexity. Self-absorbed, evil parasites.Not human. Not maternal. Not even unique or special in their nastiness... except in your words, in their relationship and attempt to ruin the mind, body, and spirit of a once innocent, bright, promising girl... then they are DEVILS.
I feel for James. She did not accept that life as her fate. She deserves that happiness she is finding with Tristen.
As is true with the life... it is blood in, blood out. James spilled hers in losing her innocence. She is prepared to draw Pearl's and Trigger's to gain her freedom.
I'm enjoying reading how this is unfolding. I think that despite the consequences, James and Tristen will prevail.
On to the next chapter...

Oh, thank you! :) There is no doubt in my mind that Pearl and Charles are monsters and I don't think there is anything that I can say to redeem their characters at any point of this story. James suffered from Pearl and Charles' hands and now that she is trying to rebuild her life, they suddenly pop back up. Things don't get any better though when Tristen pops up into her life because he forces her to do something she has been told not to do: trust people.
They are complete opposites, but I think they compliment each other. He is the yin to her yang. Thank you for your review!

before i flatline from all HOTNESS that's Tristen(!!!) - thank you sooooo much for updating Lay Me Down!!! i know feedback is important but i'm sorry MJ - i think my head just exploded. i can't think straight XP but i will say one thing. very bold move from Tristen. didn't see the I love you coming (he and i will have a talk about that later.) it'll be interesting to see if James takes him seriously or brush him off (not that i'll mind that, lol!)

Whoo I had to fan myself. That was freaking hot!! I loved the way Tristian threw James over his shoulder and carried her off!! So glad she admitted to Tristian that she had feelings for him and Tristian saying she was his woman to cute!! Hmm wonder how James is going to take the I love you?I really missed this story. I love reading about these 2 and this chapter was well worth the wait. Awesome job. Cant wait for more.
Author's Response: When a man knows what he wants, he'll do just about anything to prove that he deserves it and get it. ;) Tristen is a perfect example. It isn't until now is he starting to display jealousness and ultra dominance, but that's because his feelings for her are bona fide. Tristen has fallen pretty hard and even though Trigger could have taken his life, he didn't. And that is want makes Tristen want to protect James and let her know that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon because she really does need him.

I'm a parent and I would never approve of a child hitting their mother but this biotch IS NO MOTHER! Ooooo I'm fuming! The only way to classify Pearl is that she was a Vessel in which a beautiful flower grew…nothing more. James should’ve wiped the floor with that ho!!!! What she did to an innocent child is horrible, despicable, and I HATE that slut more than I DESPISE Trigger’s funky ass!!!!Please oh please let James exact revenge on those bastards. Melvin needs to pull any and all strings possible to help James eradicate Pearl, Trigger and his crew. I’m so hoping that Tristen recuperates with James by his side. They make a lovely couple and James deserves all the happiness life has to offer. So looking forward to the next update.
Author's Response: The next chapter will definitely focus on Tristen's recovery and James being there beside him. I definitely agree with everything you've said. Pearl and Trigger will be dealt with accordingly, but even though Melvin has plenty of connections, I think we all know that Pearl and Trigger should be scared of James because they do not know what she is capable of doing and how far she will go. At this moment, it's like shooting a gun in the air and waiting to see where the bullet lands. :) Thanks for your review!

In the beginning, I had absolutely no idea as to what actor could actually portray Melvin, but then I was listening to Steve Harvey's radio show on the way to school and I knew that he was the perfect Melvin! i don't know what the hell took me so long to read this story. at first i was a little uneasy about reading it, i thought it was going to be fluff because the banner was colorful & cheery looking (i'm an idiot, i know) it was darker than i expected but damn its an EXCELLENT story. i love the characters, well maybe not the characters, but the way you've written them. i'm definitely looking forward to more! james is gonna kick some ass!
Author's Response: LOL! I made the banner colorful as an ironic symbol to the overall feel of the story, but I can definitely understand why you didn't want to read it at first. I'm happy that you are enjoying the story! :) Though she won't admit it, James can be pretty vicious when it comes to someone hurting a person that she loves or cares about. But who wouldn't be?
