Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

Have to say that I kinda expected this. Only because I knew Pearl and Trigger wouldn't know where to get off. What I am surprised about however, is why Pearl and Trigger didn't expect this. As was said, James ran a whole drug ring for Trigger, and even worse, he still wants her to run it. You have to be some kind of hard to do stuff like that. Pearl still thinks she's that kid she bullied and pushed around all those years; never really paying attention to what her daughter was actually doing for Trigger, because she was in it for the money. Thats going to cost her, and Trigger.

Awesome!!!

Author's Response: Pearl and Trigger knew that James would react, but not in the way that they had thought. Trigger probably assumed that Tristen being beaten to near death would be the ammunition he needed to get James to come back to him and Pearl, but in fact it was reverse. Yes, all Pearl cared about was the money that was being brought in and not what was really going on, but she will find out soon enough what kind of monster she helped created. Thanks for your review! :)

Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

What a chapter...I will say that I didn't expect them to come gunning after Tristen so soon and man I love Tristen! Honestly, he should have kept on trucking...but I get why he came back.  Got to love a man like that...and there was mention about his feelings.  He punched a dude that was holding a gun to his face!!!  <----Does he not have balls or what? Though I understand why he did it.  I have a feeling he will heal fine...it sucks though that he had to endure all of that.  This chapter really made me love his character that much more.  And FINALLY, James is standing up to her mother.  Pearl deserved it.  Can't wait to see what happens next.

Author's Response: I think him being beaten will strengthen his character even more as he now knows a taste of James' past and why she was running from it in the first place. As for James, Trigger and Pearl taunted the monster and now they are about to see what it can really do firsthand. :)

Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

Pearl should be very afraid. James learned from the "best". It's a shame that she can't go to the cops. I was not expectingJames to react the way that she did. I'm glad she's not letting them make her afraid enough to cowtow to their demands.

Poor Tristen. How horrible. However, I don't think this will stop him from being with James.

Author's Response: Yes, James really did the unexpected, but she had to get the message across to Pearl and Trigger. Trigger sending his henchmen after Tristen was pretty much the last straw because he could have easily just send them after her, but instead he sent them after an innocent person. As for Tristen, he's a tough, brave man who knows want he wants. ;)

Title: Lesson Learned

My heart hurts for James.

Author's Response: It's a curse for what they did to her, but it's a blessing because her past is helping her find a man who could actually love her.

Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

I loved this chapter, it is time James take her life back, he sicko mother and her rapist boy friend need to learn that you karma is a bitch and it comes back to bite you in the ass especially when you beat it down and think its not going to fight its way back up.

I hope Tristen gets better and James is by his side. I am looking forward to James showing Pearl and Trigger the type of person she truly is.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to reading the next chapter.

Author's Response: You are so right! Karma will most definitely bite you in the ass if you keep taunting it with a bone when you think it's down. James didn't want to have to deal with Pearl and Trigger because she knew that being around them would make her revert back to her old ways, but what Trigger was pretty much the last straw and now if need be, she will revert back to the cold monster. James may appear to be obedient, naive, or even innocent, but she dealt the streets for many years and was feared by even grown men so they don't know what they are dealing with. Thanks! :)

Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

I just loved this chapter!! I hated that Tristian got up so bad and shot. I think it gave James the fire she needed to to do what she did to Pearl and I loved every min of it , I had to re-red it 3x :o) . Tristian got it bad for James, I hope he can hang in there until Trigger and Pearl go  . This story has been really fun to read, your doing and awesome job. Look forward to more.

Author's Response: It was kind of painful for me to write Tristen being beaten up and shot. :( But like you said, it was the fire that James needed to screw Pearl up and warn Trigger to stay away. Tristen does have it bad for James I gotta admit, LOL! Thanks for your review!

damn!!! this chapter was hot and I loved the way that James handled her mom because of Tristen getting hurt. cannot wait for the next update. hurry please.

Author's Response: LOL, James had the whole weekend to let all of her anger stew and Pearl just got a tiny taste of what it was like to be the one experience the pain than inflicting it. Tristen being beaten was definitely the piece of rice that tilted the scale. I am working on the update right now! :)

i hope frenchie after he heals will be able to turn the monster into a lady.. james is a lady that needs love, but now the monster needs to handle some trigger... love the update if you ever pub this story... I WILL BUY ..

Author's Response: I liked how you put that and I never thought of that. Tristen does need to turn the monster in James back into a lady. Thanks, brownie! :)

Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

This chapter was FREAKIN WICKED!!! So SOO GOOOOD!!! Trigger and Pearl aren't only vicious but downright stupid. They still see James as the small obedient child she once was but all of that it is about to change and it started the moment they went after Tristen! I'm fuming over here so I can only guess how James feels. I just hope - pray! - she doesn't try to distant herself from Tristen. Telling herself she's keeping him safe because face it, once Tristen is out of the hospital, I think he is going to try more then ever to save James from those thugs. Even if he risks to pay the cost with his life...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the update! Look more than forward to ch 7 and your upcoming stories too! *cough, cough*Gabe*cough, cough* (Even Emilio ;) ) Take care and thanks again!

Author's Response: Pearl and Trigger definitely thought that James was still the same James way back when and for a moment, they were right even though James didn't want to admit it, but all that changed when Trigger sent his goons to hurt Tristen. Now the game is completely different! As for the upcoming stories, LOL! I knew you liked Gabriel, but I also had a feeling that you'd might like Emilio too!

Title: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

Girly this chapter was goooooood!!! Love that James stood up not only for herself but Tristan as well. Pearl got that ass beat....wonder if she'll start to realize how cold her daughter can be. Hope that James will play nurse to Tristan ; ) You are doing an amazing job writing this story as well as Backwoods....your writing is honest and fresh....don't ever stop sharing!!!

Author's Response: LOL, you're a trip! I can see it now as James being dressed in one of those nurse costumes and Tristen grinning like a fool as she feeds him or gives him a sponge bath! Thank you, there are more updates coming your way!

Yeah. It doesn't really matter what James does. Tristen is too far deep in love with her to even care. He will keep pursuing her and she can't really resist him.

Author's Response: LOL, you're probably right, but because Tristen and Trigger is a very persistent men, it's going to be one hell of a ride for everyone. Thank you for your review! :)

Title: Beginning Credits

Great chapter!!  Delving a little deeper into who James is.  Sad to think some kids really grow up in this type of environment.

On the revenge note.... What she needs to do is catch Pearl when she least suspect it.  Punch her in face all the while telling her she's "teaching her a lesson".  Ending with  Pearl in a gutter like the gutter rat (see Urban Dictionary) she is and informing her she never was a mother.

I like that Tristan doesn't give up on them.  He's the light at the end of her tunnel called life. Keep up the good work.

Author's Response:

Yes, it is very sad that children really do grow up in homes similar to James'. As for the revenge, LOL! I never even knew that term existed. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I might use that as a name for a chapter. Thanks for the suggestion! :) Tristen is the kind of person that doesn't take no for an answer, but in a good way, not a creepy way.

Title: Lesson Learned

That was a really great chapter, but I can't stand Pearl and I think it is about time that Pearl get a taste of her own medicine. James needs to stop letting her mother ruin her life and be happy. If Tristen is what makes her happy then she should have it and screw her mother for thinking she has the power.

It is time James took the power back and showed Trigger and her mother just what they have done to her, she needs to give it back to them 10 fold. James is strong but her mother makes her weak. I would love to see Pearl beggin James for something and James tell her she had to teach her a lesson.

Thanks for sharing and I can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response: I like that idea of James telling Pearl that she had to teach her a lesson, I'll definitely take that into consideration. In this story, no good deed will go unnoticed and no evil deed will go unpunished, I can promise you that! Pearl and Trigger will be punished for what they have done, but the real question is how? Melvin already told James that he had some friends that could help, so I wonder if James will tell him to go through with it. Only time can tell. :) Thanks for your review!

Title: Lesson Learned

Pearl is the definition of what a parent should never be; in a perfect world there would be none like her. Still.

James has been through quite a bit. In the drug game, given to men(?) by her own mother, no less. It is a disturbing way to go through life.

On to her and Tristen.  Her moods shifted a lot this chapter, carrying on from the last of course. Are they moving a bit fast I wonder? With him getting her dress up to where her panties were showing on the first, or second, date. You know. I don't know.

As for Melvin, I knew who he was when his name was called. How they got to where they are now, well, I know that will be revealed sooner or later. I wonder, though, are you giving us readers too much information at once? All this to process, because there is a lot of history here, and it is well thought out. However, when there is too much I know I find myself forgetting things. Overall, I enjoyed this.

*Peace

Author's Response:

Yes, James was pretty bipolar during this chapter, but she is intoxicated, which plays a huge role in why she switches moods so suddenly and why she revealed some of her past to Tristen. As for the information, I never thought that I was giving too much information at once in this chapter! Please forgive me if I confused you in anyway. There is a lot of information in this chapter, but it is truly a ripple in the ocean at the moment. I just wanted give readers a tiny insight on why James became the way she was and why she hated her mother. There were a few hints there and there in the first three chapters, but I didn't want to drag it along too much.

As for Tristen and James, if I could describe their developing relationship in one or two words it would be fast forward. At this point, they have only met each other three times in total and have been on two dates in which they've known each other for three weeks. I wanted this story to be fast paced even though my updates are as quick as I'd like them to be. They did go to quick in this chapter, but there is a very good reason for that! Thank you for your review and I will definitely take all of your suggestions into consider in my next chapter.

Title: Lesson Learned

I am literally sick to my stomach.  You asked what should James do?  I think she should put both her mother and Charles six feet under.  <Is he the man behind the mask?>

No...really what she needs to do is get over her fear of her mother for once and for all. Damn she did everything her mother asked because she was afraid...that had to be it...and I guess because it was her mother that asked. *Pssh.*   Her mother is still controlling her...how? By making her feel like she worthless...James is constantly asking herself what did she do "deserve this." Sad.

She's trying to turn her life around (and she's made a few leaps...legally making her own money and putting herself through college) and I really hope she succeeds. BUT she's obviously not out of her mother's clutches just yet. Maybe she should run away to Paris with Tristen but she keeps saying that they are always there in the background...trying to "drag" her back down into the evil pit of darkness of that past life (I'm sure they would follow her to Paris if they could). *Shakes head.* Then again running away is always the best thing either.

I really like Tristen...he's a man that's not going to let anything stand in his way...well at least that is what you are portraying (without saying it in so many words).

Author's Response: You've definitely hit the mark. Though James tries to keep her distance from Pearl, her mother still controls her by making her feel as though she is worthless in which Pearl uses this weapon constantly as means to make James believe that she is nothing without her mother. Tristen is a great character to write and a honest man who keeps his word, he is exactly what James needs and eventually, everyone including James will realize that. Thank you for your review. :)

Title: Lesson Learned

Yes, I agree that Pearl and Charles/Trigger need to be dealt with. What is it that they need from her? I mean why do they want her back so badly anyway? Seriously, they're following this poor girl all over the place! Why? He can get other dealers to do the job, no matter how good she may have been, and Pearl clearly never gave a damn about her, so what is it. And Pearl is thoroughly digusting and must be hurt epsecially bad!

Also, I'm only guessing, but was the man that raped James possibly Trigger? I get an intimate vibe from him. Its obvious his interest is more personal and sexual in nature. That crack he made about her "being good in more ways than one" proved that. Nothing else that could mean. Like he has first-hand knowledge.

I so want James to get out of this and away from them. The kid is trying to do better and make a better life for herself. They got to her before she had a chance, but she's decided that it doesn't have to remain that way. For that I will always be in her corner.

This a wonderful story you're telling here. Enjoying it very much. Keep it up.

Author's Response:

I wish I could explain why Pearl and Charles are going after her in a sentence or a paragraph, but it would be hard to without skipping any important details. I can say that why they are going after her will be something that you will least expect!Trigger is the kind of man that is "too close for comfort" if you catch his attention. How he looks at James isn't the way a "stepfather" should look at a "stepdaughter"and that is a good theory of him being her rapist, but I'm gonna have to keep my lips sealed, LOL.

As for James, she is trying to make something of herself, but with Pearl and Charles looming over her shoulder, she has to work three times as hard to prove to them and most importantly herself that she have a better life and Tristen is there to help her.

I am so glad that you are enjoying my story and there will be more updates coming your way!

Pearl and Trigger need to be delt with. They are lower then scum under someones shoe. Man how could a mother be so heartless to there own child. I love Tristian and I think he is who James needs. James should tell him everything and lean on him. What a emotional chapter. I loved it. This story is really gettng good.

Author's Response: Everyone knows a little about the histories of Melvin, Trigger, James, and Tristen, but I think the next chapter will touch on Pearl's background. Pearl and Trigger will get what they deserve in the end though for now all of the characters in the story have a purpose and those two's purposes aren't done quite yet. Tristen is an awesome character to write especially in his point of view! :) Even though he met James a total of three times now, he is really willing to protect her. Thanks for you review.

Title: Beginning Credits

Loving this story! Thank you for showing us a glimpse of James past. I despise her mother and hope she gets a long painful end. Trigger can happily travel the same road...! I personally think this was an important chapter not only because of the flashbacks but Tristen *fan my hot face!* I want HIS KISSES!!! They seem to be on fire seeing how they're burning down James' walls. Even if she walks away in order to save his life - Tristen isn't going anywhere...!

Loved the update and look forward to ANY of your updates!!!

Author's Response:

LOL! I wouldn't mind a few of Tristen's kisses myself. :) The theme of  the next chapter will be James struggling to decide as to whether she should keep away from Tristen and not risk her being the reason of his death or ignore Pearl's threat and continue to see him. One choice is the right thing to do even if it means being alone and one choice is the selfish choice but it feels so right.

Thank you! I'm glad you like all of my stories. I will dedicate a chapter of one of the stories to you. So keep an eye out for all of them. :)

Love this chapter....yes it was hard to read but it gave us a glimspe into what James went through. She's strnger than she thinks and I think she needs to tell Tristan EVERYTHNG.....that man is going to suprise her in a good way : )

Author's Response: Yes, she does need to tell Tristen everything! Because of what happened to her in her childhood compared to her life as an adult, if she had a choice, she would bury her past six feet under and try to start anew. Tristen is the symbol of a new fresh start for James. but first she has to deal with Pearl and Trigger. Thanks for your review!

Title: Why a Songbird Sings

Okay, so, I get the feeling that Trigger is interested in Pearl's daughter instead of the woman herself. It's no more than a feeling right now, but I'm going to go with it. Either way, he's a top of the line asshole. Pearl, sadly, isn't much better than him but I want to believe there is a reason for it. Sure, it won't be a good enough reason, no one will, but it would explain some things. Still wouldn't like her, though, lol.

I liked this chapter. Very little Tristen, or her friends but that's OK. We got a bit of background information and that's always a plus. All right, ta-ta.

Author's Response:
Yes, there wasn't much Tristen in this chapter or her friends in this chapter, but there will definitely be more of him in chapter four. I don't think that I will be able to find redeeming qualities in Trigger and Pearl, but I think if their histories are explained that it gives everyone a peek of why they are the way they are. Thanks for the review. :)

for what reason would trigger mess with an innocent boy?

Author's Response: Trigger is the type of person will be do just about anything to get what he wants and get a person to accept his offer even if it means hurting someone who is close to that person or at least getting to close to. He's irrational, crazy, and power hungry, but what he does know is that he is messing with the wrong guy. :)

Hmm...it seems as if the "history" between James and Charles (I prefer Charles to Trigger but it's no real bother) is more than just drug trafficking.  I sort of read in between the lines in the previous chapter(s) and now this one...I suppose I will find out soon enough in future updates.  *Sigh.*  Shame on her mother...that's all I will say for now regarding that horrid past.

Author's Response: I prefer Charles to Trigger as well, but I bounce back and forth to change the mood of the scene. :) You are definitely right about the history between James and Charles, it is more than just drug trafficking. At the moment, there is no redeeming quality of Pearl as she loves the pleasures of a luxurious life that Charles showers her with and she doesn't seem to regret what she has done to James in the past, but all will be explained soon. Thanks for another great chapter. I am liking the build up between Tristen and James. I hope Pearl and Trigger stay out of the way but that aint going to happen so I will just have to wait and see what you come up with next. Cant wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you. :) There will be a lot more Tristen and James in chapter four, but there will also be Pearl and Trigger. Those two are kind of like that nagging secret you can't get your mind off of and it refuses to go away until you slowly break down. That is what James is dealing with, but on the flip side, she has her best friends, Marvin, and most importantly Tristen there to build her back up.
