Title: Chapter 42 The Eye of the Beholder

WOW!  Valysia's grandmother is just as deeply Racist as any rebel cracker, as deeply as William Hendericks Sr.

Evidently the grandmother-Ethel not only has great Hatred for Valysia because she truly despises a dark complexioned skin and any other characteristics of a Black African biology (kinky hair and full lips) but also Hates Valysia because her darkness is the image of the dark complexioned Black woman who Jonathan loved instead of Ethel.

Ethel's Hatred at the loss of Jonathan's love was also deeply ever lasting because a dark skinned female was supposed to be her inferior and absolutely no competition.  Ethel is like many Racist White women whose self esteem is based on a false superiority complex.  This color caste Racism began amongst the AA Race during days of slavery and still remains with many of us today.

I'm also very glad that Valysia finally stood up for herself to Tameka who regardless of her circumstances nevertheless Tam been a scumbag total bitch evil to Valysia and Val needed to see her conduct for what it has been and tell her off which she greatly did and I tremendously APPLAUD VALYSIA!

Bravo! Brenda1257 this story continues to mirror so much real life, evidencing your superior writing skills and fantastic creativity!

Old Black People....and I am a black woman who has lived thru some ugly mess myself...but older black people especially women have always had this thing about who was better than whom and it has got to stop until we stop HATING OURSELVES we will never be LOVED by anyone else! I really love this story. Val has a pretty big heart to have forgiven Tameka despite the way she tried to sabatoge Val's relationship. I still can't like Tameka for what she's done, but I do understand where she's coming from. Ethel just needs a good old fashion butt whoopin and I think Mavis should be the one to give it to her. That woman is a complete psycho. You are such a talented author. I love your stories.

Thanks so much.  Your review means a lot because you are also an awesome writer.  I love your story Scar and can't wait for the update. 

This whole situation has set Val free.  She realized that Ethel really as a problem and that it was never about her other than to punish her for being a product of her father's love for her mother.

Val had always been a little jealous of Tameka because of her looks, but Tameka was always a little jealous of Val because of her smarts and the support she had from Mavis which is why she acted out in the first place. Plus she had never forgiven Val for leaving her (even though Val was a child too and couldn't do anything about her situation) and for looking down on her.

Both characters are going to grow from this situation.

Again, I'm eagerly anticipating your update...

Wonderful, wonderful story!  That old hag is just plain crazy how on earth could a grandmother treat her like that is beyond anything I could come up with.  But karma is a mf and she will certainly get hers.  Please write a  story for Tameka, she deserves one.  Update soon.

Ahhhh! That Ethel is one sad, sick, trifling itch and that's saying itnlightly I don'teven want to insult the itches to what Ethel is.

I hope Meka fights and gets better and her and Val get the closeness that they lost back. Ethel is going to grow old and alone.
