I think Richard being the companion to Lady Letita is going to cause some problems. I understand were Darcy is coming from he doesn't want anyone involved to get hurt, but because of the strong feelings they've developed keeping them apart will do more harm than good.

Loved the update. I have a bad feeling about this gathering for Mary esp if Richard has to hang with the other lady during the the festivities. I hope she doesn't get hurt.Georgie needs to get a grip and stop being jealous. She's making herself miserable.

The previous chapters were so good and for this chapter I may need to go back and read, but didn't Georgiana tease or offer Fitzwilliam as a suitor for Mary after Mary mentioned the same for Georgiana, but Georgiana denied and said he only looked upon her as a sister(?), so now she has feelings for him?
I understand Darcy's reluctance and I was thinking aren't interracial couples were accepted in France, although I don't know when in history that happened. I do remember from another historical romance that the couple married in England, but lived in France.
Can't wait to see how you are going to work this out. I love this spin on Pride & Prejudice. Oh, congrats on making the top ten!
Author's Response: Your memory is correct. Georgiana did tease Mary about that. However, I don't think that she was serious in her suggestion at the time. They had also put up Mr. Brambles and Parson Geoffries as suitable husbands as well. I think Georgiana's response was more to Mary's suggestion that such a thing would be impossible and the she would never marry. When Georgie replied that Richard only thought of her as a sister, I think she was trying to deflect Mary's teasing as it hit close to the mark. Georgie had feelings for Richard at that time, she had for years, but I don't think she was totally oblivious to the fact that Richard thought of her as a sister.
