I love stories set in the old west. This feels just right. I am not a fan of slavery stories but one with a lot of romance in it will be just fine and this one is beginning wonderful!
I know there is more to the story of her Dad..I cannot wait to find out..and how she gets taken captive and what happen then is exciting to imahine!

This is beautifully written. I'm a so encouraged to see us doing more historicals for fiction. I love period pieces and your concept is so intriguing. I love Sally's spirit. I loved the deathbed scene with her mom. It was so visually crisp from the dialogue. I could see the ship captain that loved his slave. Wouldn't it be fantastic to have a story where he had indeed rescued his beloved from Salvery. Oh man! The possibilities.
Lastly I'm in love with Native American men. So grateful that you are featuring them in this story. This is going to be a wild and thoroughly entertaining ride. I applaud your style, your prose, your imaginitive way of drawing me into this time period. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for more. Brava! Brava!

I wonder what her daddy had on old Mr. Colemen. Because if I am not mistaken it was against the law to teach slaves how to read and write.
