I like this story but is seems as if the plot is not making much progress.  I know that Roxanne is afraid of Mod but in 9 chapters they have had very very little interaction.  If they are the two main characters and suppose to develope some type of a relationship, one would think that the two would spend more than one minute together.  Its like watching the first ten minutes of a movie in slow motion, frame by frame....very frustrating.  And we still don't know why Mod did so much damage to Roxanne(and that other girl) with a simple hug but is able to touch Melissa, her kids, her mother, the chicks at the bar and everyone else without hurting them.  I find it strange that this thought hasn't even occured to Roxanne especially after she saw him embrace Melissa's mother with no mortifying side effects.  Please give us some momentum and clarification. 

Author's Response: You bring up an interesting point. I think a lot of people are frustrated with the pace of the story. I got a flame for this story on another site partly for this reason. Sadly, that reviewer didn't phrase their concerns as politely as you. Honestly, I expect it to be a long and complicated story. I'm a huge fan of suspense. I love plot twists and cliffhangers and all those fun things. A lot of the unanswered questions that I pose and that readers perceive are there intentionally. When I finish the story, I will probably go back and rearrange some things that frustrate readers as far as the pace of the story and the way the characters issues are unveiled. To answer your questions directly, Roxanne is the only person that Mod cannot touch. You'll learn more about that in a couple of chapters. Also, a lot of things are going to happen before you see a romantic relationship actually develop between Roxanne and Mod. More characters are going to come into play. I expect the story to cover the span of a couple of years (and then I'm thinking of a sequel). Thank you so much for reviewing! This was really good. Your dialogue seemed great. Also you got your emotions across excellently. This chapter seems like one of your best. I think you also went deeper into the character (Roxanne). I was a little confused with her first emotion, but other than that, it was good. The fear she had was depicted well. Good job.

The emotions didn't come across strong, but they did come across. I felt bad for Roxanne, but more curious about, her parents, and what happened to them. I also want to know why she can't picture them. How long has she been a slave? I thought her fear came across clear at the end with Mod. I look forward to see how the progression of her life with these two men.

I'm loving this story and all the characters in it. Can't wait for  Roxanne to fully heal and see what happens. But you definetly caught my attention with this story, Can't wait for the next update.
