Title: Chapter 19: Chapter 18

Finally... A mother-son chat. How wonderful!!

Maybe Linda can give Micky some of her spirit and Imani can be an inspiration for his painting.

This is progressing at a pace where a bond, a friendship based on respect and admiration develops. between Micky and Imani that serves as the foundation for their eventual love affair.

If Micky punished himself by tying himself and clinging to an emotional wasteland like Rachel, he can be liberated with Imani... wih Linda's guidance.

Nice job! Keep the updates coming.

Author's Response: It was long overdue.  Linda has always felt guilty and she defended her guilt when she should have just communicated.  I suppose she believed he didn't care that much one way or another.  You'll get a little more of a glimpse as I revisit the Paris visit...it's coming up soon!   Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Title: Chapter 20: Chapter 19

Wonderful chapter!! Absolutely wonderful!!

Micky, Micky, Micky! I could kiss him!

He survived his talk with Linda, held his own against Rafi's admonishment, and blossomed a little in his connection and time alone with Amani. (Yes, they do make a lovely couple.)

The old Micky would have been in his office hiding from the three women... make that FOUR women. He did finally give Rachel her walking papers.

I can't wait until the party!!!

Author's Response:

Isn't Micky wonderful?

He really wants to say what's been heaving in his chest.  But as you can see he can't deny Imani anything.  Anything he believes will soften her to him he'll go with.  Hey...we all need a training wheel.  Micky has grown a lot.  Having all of these women around him now...he's like a sultan and they, his harem.  And he's learning more from them in how to communicate.

Party is coming...all of them! ...meow!

Title: Chapter 21: Chapter 20

Great update!!

This chapter was very touching... and sad... and so I cried. (Or I'm PMSing.) Whatever it is, the scene in the car between Micky and Imani got to me.

The scene was well-written and teeming with the emotions of two lonely people reaching out to each other, not for gratuitious sex but desire based on their connection. It wasn't cheapened by the fact that they were stranded in the vehicle.

...And then you zinged us with a cliffhanger of a damn tow truck driver with horrible timing.

In the next chapter, I hope that there are no regrets on top of their natural awkwardness.

Author's Response: Hyah Blue...Thanks for reading.  Glad you enjoyed.   It was a touching one.  Because they had been fighting their battles on the sidelines and then they started fighting their feelings for each other.  Yes...it had a huge impact because it wasn't some random romp.  They were making a connection, expressing way more than fire and desire.

Title: Chapter 22: Chapter 21.1

Yikes! "Loud screeching cries?" WTH??? You lulled us into a wonderful, post-hot sex mood (Imani and Micky are beyond scorching together) then drop a cliffhanger on us!! I haven't a clue, at all. Rachel? Rafi? Lord, not Linda passing in her sleep!

BTW, Rafi sure is a nosy booger, ain't she? She suspects or is fishing. Not to mention was about to blow Micky's surprise. I really don't think Imani should find out from someone else... unless Rafi manages to soften the impact, make Imani more ameanable to the idea.

Definitely can't wait for the next update!!!

Author's Response:

Hi blue...you always give me morsels for the adding.  So if my chapters go extra long...it's your fault...K~

Rafi is so much like her mother.  Linda will always be around when Rafi is present.

Title: Chapter 23: Chapter 21.2

Oh, no!! I was hoping that it wasn't so, but I knew Linda had died in her sleep.

In a strange way it reminded me of last year when Pres. Obama's grandmother died a few days before the election.

One last Christmas, birthday, and the joy of seeing the ones she loved the most accomplish what she'd wished and hoped for them. An election with history-making results, the ultimate accomplishment of a child she had sacrificed to raise and raise well. Two days.

Then I think... maybe Linda knew she had made her peace, laid the foundation and didn't need to witness the end, the victory. And because we are seldom prepared to accept the end, even when we know it's inevitable, could cease a loved one's suffering, we are never prepared to deal with, much less accept it.

DNR becomes such an ugly word, a near-murderous concept. I don't like that only Imani, perhaps Rafi knew. Micky should not have been done that way... not again.

Micky, Rafi, and Imani are suffering. Too bad they have gone off in three separate directions to grieve separately instead of bonding together. Their prior hurt was still too close to the surface.

Micky immediately felt left out, unheard... again. Rafi has lost her mommy... again. And the poor orphan Imani is perhaps feeling alone, abandoned... again. This time by the surrogate family she'd just found.

Micky's rejection, anger and blame might push her to retreat and leave, believing that with Linda gone she not only doesn't belong but has no right to be there. Isn't wanted. It doesn't seem fair; but his behavior is understandable. Classic old Micky.

Lady, you have been writing the hell out of this story. There is nothing but love, admiration, and support behind your decisions. However, this wasn't the really difficult chapter. The following one(s) are. The what next? Saying good bye and sharing grief with others who respected and loved Linda, but perhaps were not privvy to her short-comings as a mother because she was such a free spirit, and then moving on. Moving on is the hardest.

Sorry for the long rambling. This was an emotional chapter on many levels.

Until next time...

Author's Response:

Thank you for giving me something to read.  I never tire of reading the insights of the readers.  It tells me you really get the story, hope to get the story, or simply relate it to personal experiences and that's major crack for me!!!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

Title: Chapter 24: Chapter 22.1

This was a nice chapter. The healing began in preparing to say good bye to Linda through he memorial. I'm glad they gave Linda a great send off.

Rafi did good with Imani explaining about Micky's gift. And thank goodness she graciously accepted. She wasn't as good denying her feelings for Micky, though.

Ugh!! Micky, Micky, Micky. If he had only said something to Imani. She was mentally packed and had one foot out the door. Two different women in two days all over him, one being that phony viper ex? Imani is so out of there. Gone. Vamoose. Adio. Hasta la vista.

Personally, I think Imani should leave Micky to his self-imposed alienation and grief. She can't and shouldn't pursue him to console him. At some point she'll appear to be chasing after him. Rachel already has that down to a pathetic, desperate science. Micky wants to talk to Imani, apologize, or profess his undying love, he'll have to make the first move. She has a building to restore.

RIP, Linda. Damn, what a great lady/character, flaws, saucy mouth and all.

Author's Response:

Blue...I leave you to do the P.R. for me okay.  Cause gal you are off the chain!!!

Ok...first off, thanks a ton for your loyalty.  Second, you know Imani so damn well you could write her.  You definitely have the damn thing down...and EEEE!  I love reading your replies.

Linda was the Don Dadda!

Title: Chapter 25: Chapter 22.2

Whew. For a minute there I thought I was going to have to reach into my monitor and bitch-slap my girl! She was uncharacteristically hysterical, which was funny at second glance. I love how you wrote that whole scene. :)

Imani knows how agonizingly hard it is for Micky to make a move. Yet when he does... she picks then to throw a hissy. I'm glad Micky regrouped and approached her again... over herbal tea, no less. LOL. They are just too sweet... and scorching, center-of-the-sun hot, hot together to not give it a try.

Yes, Rafi is so much like Linda. Hopefully, she won't repeat her mother's mistakes in relationships and will remain close to Micky and Imani. Micky, who punished himself to an emotional wasteland by marrying Rachel, thanks to a well-crafted pairing by his dear mom, has a chance at real happiness with Imani. And neither will be lonely or alone again.

This is what I believe will be Linda's legacy.

Author's Response: Thanks blue...I always enjoy reading your analysis...you so get them!  Thanks for reading...I mean really reading!!!  :::HUGS:::

Title: Chapter 26: Chapter 23 - FINAL

Oh, no!  Boo hoo. It's over... <Sigh>

Una Bella Donna!!

What a truly pretty woman, inside and out. Beautiful, actually, with a big, warm generous heart. Good does come to those who are true, patient, and focused... humble even. Imani went through a lot to finally get there... the often elusive "happily ever after."

I think back to that first encounter between Imani and Linda at the museum when Imani shared her food and company, her humble generosity with Linda.

That one random, simple act of kindness marked the beginning of seeing all her dreams come true, fulfilling the last wishes of a dying woman, being the catalyst to Micky seeking peace and piece of mind, reclaiming his life, love, and passion. Rafi found her mother and herself, freed that part of her that was so much like Linda without fear of becoming Linda, repeating her mistakes.

Imani's caring and love to one little dying woman led to her realizing her dream to help care for so many more... and finding the love of her life... the newly liberated, happy, expressive, passionate Micky. Lord, that man was delightfully frustrating in the beginning. LOL.

My dear Sparks, that was the most significant part of this wonderful story... the development and evolution of such real-to-life, flawed but good to the core characters (except that dingbat Rachel, that is). You are a talented writer and it shows in your stories. Great characters. Great story. Carefully executed plot. Some daring but well-placed cliffhangers. Regular updates. Sexual tension for days in an inevitable, undeniable attraction, culminating in red hot sex, finding and admitting love, true love.

And, finally... a wonderful, happy ending. El fin.

Thanks for the ride. I enjoyed every minute of it!! :)

Author's Response:

Love you Blue!!! You're all up in my head!!!  I love your analysis.  You truly get the characters.  And that was my intent with this story.  I do write fluffy stuff, but I really wanted a deep message which was why I lamented on making this a love story.  It is really a love story, that encompassed far more than a man and woman connected sexually.  Healing took place.  Micky resented everything that was closer to Linda than he was, not realizing the reason why had nothing to do with Linda, but with how the people perceived  her--as human being, unconditionally receiving her as she was and not how they wanted her to be.

Imani gained a lot more than money with very small insignificant show of kindness.  She inherited family, love, and the vulnerability to accepting both.

Summary:

Tiny, muffled footsteps bounded towards me. Faith stood no taller than three feet which I personally thought was petite for a four-year-old. Most of her cashew nut colored skin was covered by the oversized t-shirt she had draped over her shoulders. I giggled at the disheveled state that her dark brown hair was in. The curls hung loosely and frizzy all around her head; her curls extended at least a foot from her head. I briefly was reminded of Huey Freeman from The Boondocks. Some of her features matched mine exactly and some clearly didn’t. One feature was her big, smoky, blue-green eyes that stared up at me with innocence. They seemed to be framed with a few splashes of freckles. She would probably never know how much her eyes haunted me at times.

Title: Chapter 6: Five.

LOL. Jake just pulled a punk move. I'm glad Li punched him in the gut, knocking the air out of him.

His bitch girlfriend smells like closet WASP racist, insecure, ill-mannered heifer. You don't ask anyone, especially not a total stranger, such personal questions!!

I'm loving Li's new confidence and independence and the fact that she has remained close to Henry and Miss Irene.

To Jake's credit, he is appreciative and did respond and come see Miss Irene. However, something tells me he isn't living his true, authentic life... yet.

Wait 'til he meets Faith!!!

I'm enjoying this story. It's a wonderful continuation to Jake and Liandre's tale.

Oh boy. Jake is about to embark on living a double life. I hope Henry can use a young mechanic down at the shop, cause when Renee and daddy find out...

Great story!

P.S. Can we get a picture of Henry? Pleeeezzzzeeee? I'm thinking Louis Gossett, maybe... or that actor Mr. ?? Cobb(s) who was in The Bodyguard with Whitney... or the black detective from Closed Case. He isn't as old as Maya Angelou but he's the big, strong, warm, nuturing type... just like I picture Henry.

And how about Gene Hackman as Renee's daddy???

Until the next update....

Title: Chapter 9: Eight.

Welcome Back!!

I remember reading the first story then starting the sequel then losing track of this story. I'm glad you are back to continue it. It is a very good story.

Miss Irene and Henry did a really good job nurturing and guiding Li... mainly with lots of love and non-judgmental support, I'm sure. She, in turn is a good mother to Faith and has matured in the past four years.

Yup. Jake is still attracted to Li and a little afraid of Faith. I do give him credit for stepping right up and wanting to get to know and be a father to his little girl. He should have similar courage telling Renee. (Yeah, right.) And like any woman, she will not take it well.

Things seem to be going rather well at the moment. That means some drama is possibly lurking in the near future, huh?

Photobucket

At seventeen years old, Leah Henderson is homeless and pissed off as hell at the world. Pick pocketing is a trade she's become accustomed to and used as payment for what she thinks society owes her. However, her most recent victim is definitely no push-over or willing to let a "criminal" out of his sight until she is behind bars where she belongs.

Officer David Greenburg is a kind-hearted man with a loving temperament and wholesome family that, in his opinion, could use another addition and the young lady soaked to the bone sitting in front of him seems to be the perfect candidate. David's eighteen year old son is less than thrilled and more than happy to see her go, at least that's what he keeps telling himself.

Title: Chapter 1: Short Story

So, sometimes I read late at nigh when I have the place to myself... finally. I just realized that I read this on TST. Since hanging out over here more recently, I think it only fair to comment here too.

I loved this story. What a sacrifice. However, considering that they met independently, I wouldn't have stayed apart, especially after the true parentage was revealed. They weren't blood relatives or steps previously, which indeed would have been a little creepy.

I believe the relationship may have worked out. I'm glad daddy/uncle Kenny still had a major role in Kendra's life.

Another moral of the story could be that your one true love sometimes cannot be ignored, no matter the circumstance.

I'm looking forward to reading more of your work!

Author's Response: Thanks for taking the time to comment again on this blog.  I didn't know how many TST members were also members here like you and I. Had I known, I might not have posted it twice. lol. Also thanks for reposting that great moral addition.

Summary:

Willing to do whatever it takes to finish college and help her family out of poverty, Aurelia Bunting does the very thing that she hates – she becomes an exotic dancer/stripper. On top of that, her steady boyfriend just cheated on her with her best friend and she has a large tuition bill due.

Fresh from a breakup, too, Professor Baron Weaver is not so deep in grief to overlook the beautiful Virgin Island native that attends his brother’s bachelor’s party. There’s something about her that’s just so…so delectably unforgettable.

Since anonymity is crucial at events like these, Aurelia has no idea that the man she’s dancing for is going to be one of her new professors this year. If either of them had known, they would have never even considered finding comfort in each other’s arms that fateful night.

Title: Chapter 7: Letter To Readers

Hi and welcome!

I enjoyed the story and the lessons or morals learned by each situation. I believe Aurelia got hers too.

I was all prepared to read about Aurelia and Baron's attempts to weave and waltz their way out of an awkward and even more inappropriate situation than their night together when I read "The End."

I know that some endings are best left alone and conclusions left to the imaginations of the reader, but this story begged a continuation.

I will check it out.

Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to read more of your work.

Author's Response: Bluegardenia, your words echoed exactly what other readers said. Sooo...that's why I expanded the story. The more I started fleshing it out, the more excited I became about Baron and Aurelia's storyline. Pretty soon, I was cranking out the pages with a perpetual grin on my face. The storyline still brings me joy even today. Thanks for commenting.

Cold Case has been one of my favorite shows since it started. Sometimes I can't help crying, some of the stories are so sad, the deaths so pointless.

One of the things which I find so frustrating about the show is the lack of screen time Kat and Lilly get.

Wow! Seems like dessert was as delicious as the meal!!!

So, now that everything seems to be smooth sailing, for now, where  is this going? Will they attempt another trip down the aisle or "just date" for awhile?

Personally, I hope there isn't a little Matt on the way and they date for a while. I'd also like to see them openly deal wih some of the feedback from Matt's very public declaration. I know it isn't all good. Taylor is still black and Matt is still smooth, but he can't rely on charm alone to get him through the rest of their lives.

Sorry, I'm still a little stuck on the fact that he didn't reach out to her until he retired from playing. In his new job, he'll need to rely on more than just his own personal experience, which isn't quite fully resolved... yet.

Can't wait to read what happens next... besides anoher chapter closer to the end.

Great start!

Matt needs to adjust his attitude before he shows up on Monday. I'm sure Taylor isn't the same girl he jilted eight years ago.

Looking forward to reading more.

Author's Response: She definitely isn't the same.  He's cocky and confident.  More will be coming soon.

Title: Chapter 3: He's Back

Matthew is going about this the wrong way. I don't like cocky guys. It seems arrogant and insensitive, considering that he trampled her heart and then some. He has to know his presence is causing Taylor great distress.

Youy are doing great. Keep the updates coming when you can.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Author's Response: I am trying to not make him come off too arrogant, but he is.  To me its part of the charm.  He knows that his presence is causing her distress and he wants her to know he's sorry.  I'm really working on his character development, because I want him to be loved.  Thanks for the suggestions....

Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4- Flying Out

Too soon. Ugh! Manipulation. No warm fuzzies for Matthew as yet. Be strong, Taylor! Here him out, but resist! He canno get off that easy.

Can't wait to read more!!

Author's Response: I am taking your suggestions to heart.  I think I was rushing it because I want them to get to their HEA... But, I'm going to slow it down and make him work harder.
