Title: Chapter 1: Unfinished Business
Really beautiful story and really wonderfully written, the setting/scenery of this story is beautiful. I hate to say this though but the situation kind of annoyed me. She left home for seven years because she couldn't face the seriousness of her relationship with Lucas? And then she comes back after her grandmother dies and ends up with him anyway?
Im sorry but Sadie needs to grow the hell up. How could she do such a horrible thing, if not to Lucas, then to her family?? Her grandmother is dead!! How can she live with herself? She missed out on the last seven years of her grandmother's life over some guy...she leaves her grandma without a conscience and then cries once she is dead, I wanted to slap the hell out of her. I'm sorry but it's what you do with your family that's alive that counts, she can cry her tears but it does nothing for her grandma, who she hurt by by her actions by staying away for so long.
I know I am sounding way way harsh but she just comes across like a bratty drama queen child who thinks of no one but herself. I wouldn't trust someone who was as flighty as her, who can take off at a momen't notice without any regard for anyone else.
Please don't take this as a negative review hun, just my take on the situation, I hope I get to read more about these two because they sound like a really good couple despite what happened and I enjoy reading about flawed human beings, its realistic than your super sweet perfect character. And I hope Sadie somehow gets to redeem herself.
Wonderful short story!
Author's Response: I don't think that this is a harsh review. Everyone has their opinion and view on stories, so I like to see everyone's points of view. I'll agree with you that Sadie was selfish in what she did. She ran away from town over a guy and left everyone in the dust. Her grandmother was very sad over her leaving and when she died, Sadie then regretted the decisions she made in her life that lead her up to that point. That's why as the funeral grew closer, she was the one that was taking the beating the most because she realized the mistake she made. Her grandmother warned her that she would regret it, but she didn't listen and now she was paying the consquences. Thank you for your review. :)
