Summary:

I have always been alone and that was all I knew how to be. My mother and father only showed up on two occasions: my dreams and my nightmares. In my dreams, they were normal people who worked nine-to-five jobs. They were always there when I needed someone to talk to. We lived in a suburban area where all the neighbors watched me grow up. We were average people in my dreams, but in my nightmares, the truth came out. My mother was a city prostitute with a drug addiction. She slept with numerous men; consequently, my father had a name or a face. For all I know, he was just a quick [ rendevous ] to help her habit. I have bounced around from different foster homes, never finding a place that I was truly happy with or that was ever happy with me.

Liandra might just get a liking for Jake but she's got a no good boyfriend she lives with who beats her; she's a dumb young girl and he's four years older, her first lover, I think that's why he can take advantage of her!  The bastard kicked her out of the apartment into the cold, she really needs to leave him instead of intermittently running to Ms. Irene for comfort and a place to stay the night, afterall she does pay half the rent.

Liandra is something else, she goes right for the sex with Jake and only known him a week, plus he cuts on himself!  What's Liandra's story that she don't avoid intimacy with such a wierdo, he might kill her, she don't know!

AH!  Now, I know why Liandra was not afraid of Jake and could even perceive him romantically; her abusive young life was worse than Jake's because in addition to a lot of beatings she was continually raped by the men her father would sell her to.

Great story, Defunktdame and very good writing with well drawn characters!

Title: Chapter 9: Body Heat.

Liandra really needed that oil massage Jake gave her; Amir's injry to her back seems severe, all black and blue' but, LOL that did not stop her passionate enjoyment for her and Jake's sexing which was nice!

Title: Chapter 10: Slut.

Maybe  Liandra's youthful horrible abuse and it's continuance with Amir have made it impossible to accept even a semblance of love, so she had to turn the loving intimacy that she and Jake shared last night into something base and meaningless.  I wonder if Jake will return to her but, he has been abused too, he probably has not that extra strength to take faith and ignore her words of pain.

Well, Liandra's mean scornful words to Jake were in fact too much for him; he too being an abused person, now he's left Ms. Irene's!

Title: Chapter 12: Prey.

I am very surprised Liandra went to the apartment she had lived in with Amir by herself; or at least she should have waited until she knew he would not be home.  She knows he is brutal and likes to beat on her, so raping and brutality is what she should expect to receive by going there by herself.  That doesn't condone what he did but, I am surprised at her.

Title: Chapter 13: Fin.

That was a good story!

 Amir's death was an unexpected ending but, when Irene said he grabbed for the cops' gun I figured the police would shoot him to death.  In NYC cops shoot to kill a Black person at the first hint of violence and sometimes for no reason at all.  Perhaps, the cops have changed but years ago thru the 1980's some of the newspaper articles included and the shooting to death of an old Black woman who lived alone in her home (Eleanor Bumpers I think was her name) and another incidence of a very young Black child sitting on his own stoop, shot to death just because the White cop was having a "bad day".  Amir was a brutal man to Irene; so his habit of violence this time just drove him to show it definitely to the wrong persons.

It's a shame that Liandra lost Jake maybe they could have had a relationship, for however long it would last, still it would have been something; perhaps meaningful.

Thanks for this story DefunktDame, I enjoyed it and it was well written!

Title: Chapter 10: Me Syndrome


Oh, just want to add that I sure hope you continue this story!  I want so much to see Evangeline come off of drugs, of course it will be a long battle, but at least she's got Todd to work her through it.  He has a deep silent strength, virtue and true love for those he cares about.  And you have shown it in your story!

Thank you so much for reading; I really appreciate the reviews. I really want to continue this story; I have just been busy with school and all. Aside from that, Evangeline's eternal absence from the show leaves me breathless and it's not in a good way.

I have written the next chapter halfway; however, something is still missing. that's one of the reasons why I haven't attempted to post it yet. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for in order to complete this story because Tangie has a special place in my heart and so does everyone who has been kind enough to read it.

This is heavy!... a dose of how life really is for some!  I like how Evangeline and Todd, neither feel sorry for themselves, they just dealing with who they are and life best they can!! I think Todd will be a good father to the baby because he needs this child in his lonely life!

I think Todd in his loneliness is looking for a friend he can really trust, and having been abused as a baby and child he feels an affinity with this baby that Evangeline is ready to abandon, so he takes it on.  In this baby he can be its savior for the moment and maybe it can give him that unconditional acceptance he wants.

Papa Jones is a dreamer, a failed gambler; to save Papa's life and the future well being of her little brother, Sunny is deeply considering agreeing to an intimate relationship with Nikolai.  As a 18/year old girl of nearly sexual innocence, she in her sacrifice shows herself to be a woman of deep character and loving heart.
