Title: Chapter 43: Shine - Epilogue

AH!  This story ends, so appropriately, with Nikolai and Sunshine wonderful lovemaking, they are so HOT together!!

A great story of True Love!  In all my many years on this earth I have read few great true love stories but, this is one of them.  Nikolai will always remain a special part of me.  Amazingly, he was a gangster but under all his hard virile shell was a need for the nourishment of Love and he discovered his soul's fulfillment in his unexpected love for Sunshine, and he could never let her go.

Thank you Onimosity for this great story! I cherished my reading of each chapter; the characters and events had an evolving spirit, they were so well written, vivid, realistic and vibrant. This story had everything, gangsters, great sex, love and laughs too.  But most important and what I deeply felt was the LOVE, and its true meaning as revealed in the story's relationships of family, friendship and romantic love.

Title: Chapter 42: I've Made Up My Mind... to Let My Life Shine

Nikolai stands up and she steps back, instantly regretting it as the look of pain in his eyes intensifies.

"Do you fear me now?' He asks softly, looking down. "My Sunshine fears me?"

OMG, this is like Beauty and the Beast;.. Nikolai dreaded that his Sunshine would ever see the gangster beast in him, now she has seen it.  He feels this time he has really lost her.

But Sunshine finally gave him the words he's longed to hear "I LOVE YOU", he's felt it in his heart that maybe she did  but, words are important he needed to hear her say it "I Love You Nikolai".

I cried all the way through this chapter, initially in hopelessness for Nikolai and finally as Sunshine said the words, my tears began to be in joy along with Nikolai's joy.  I can not further express how much all their love in this chapter so deeply touched me because it's affect is too deep!

 I'll just say, LOVE!

But, I can express and must say how happy I am that Stanislavsky allowed Nikolai a safe release from the Mafia, so that he and his beloved Sunshine can have a life together!

AH!  Their love had a happy ending, I'm especially thrilled for Nikolai, my Prince.

Title: Chapter 41: ...And Make My Life Shine

Sunshine's love and her tears flowing down on Nikki's face had the power to do what a force of strength could not, momentarily kill the beast in him to allow his release of Sergei.

AH!  The awesome power of LOVE!

I felt Nikolai's pain deeply, I understand it, life without his love has transformed him into a body of mere clay! He says he cannot live without her, I think he will seek suicide if this is really the end for them.  I felt his pain so much my stomach went to feeling empty, toward almost nausea.

I realize Sunshine is in trauma, but I wish she would comfort Nikolai, now that she's done all she can for Sergei and he will live.  So glad she finally returned to Nikki!  Also, glad that in the interim Nikolai was not totally alone, he had his "father" Stanislavsky but, he needed his life source, Sunshine; he needs to know that her love is not destroyed from him!  Nikki is drowning and my heart breaks for him!

Title: Chapter 40: I'm Gonna Get Up...

LOVE!  SO IMPORTANT TO LIFE!

Sergei's problem that he is trying to fix is Sunshine's love for Nikolai; insanely jealous that it's not him, and justifying his present actions by "you are not worthy of her".  What Sergei does not accept is LOVE is not something earned, IT JUST IS.  Also, Nikolai is not a bad man, just human, not perfect, and he is changing and will continue to change because of his Love for Sunny.  Regardless of how Nikkie made it into her heart; Sunny discovered in Nikolai, THE LOVE OF HER LIFE!  A True, Real love is not a given to happen in life and sometimes, as in Sunny's case, comes unexpectedly with a Man she intellectually would not have chosen.  But, Nikolai's Love for Sunshine and his determination to win her heart unveiled to Sunny that he is in fact her happiness, the essential complement to the mystery of herself.  So, to "save her" from Nikolai as Sergei says to be be with "clean" lifestyle men is not in Sunny's best interest and she may never love again, no matter the "clean" type of man she later meets; instead she would have to "settle"..  Then Sergei killing Nikolai to "set her free" is truly to no avail and really has given the very ruination to Sunny's life that Sergei claims to want to prevent.

This is a very DEEP and dynamic chapter, so deep I have great difficulty to express my feelings in words!  My heart is breaking at this unexpected chaos that Sergei brings to Nikolai and Sunny's happiness!

Title: Chapter 39: Or We Might Take it Differently

AH!  That redhead woman, intent on capturing Niki's attention, her negative intrusion turned out good for Nikolai!  It forced Sunshine to see how very much he is important to her as her's alone! ...regardless of the disturbance Sergei planted, her heart knows what is important for her happiness, her life!

Their love making in the car was so very HOT!... so sensually fiercely romantic!  Yeah! Sunshine marking her territory by biting his jaw; very primitive of her, Lol..  Although, I do hope the mark eventually fades from Nikolai's deliciously handsome face!

I liked Stanislavsky visit to Sunny, it opened the way for her deeper understanding of Nikki, to see his beginnings.  He was an innocent soft youth but, that softness he had to suppress for survival and hence the man he is today.  But, she and his love for her brings that other self of him from its submerged regions.  He is not the monster jealous Sergei sought to define him as.

Nikolai bought Sunny beautiful hair combs in Moscow, I can hardly wait till he gives them to her, they have a Sun design, they will look so delicately beautiful in her hair!  Yayy Nikolai, he is so awesome!!

Title: Chapter 32: Good Luck With Your Path

WOW!  This story continues to be so exciting and filled with the surprising twists and turns that real life has.  The characters are so huge, not one dimensional, they truly Live.

I understand why Nikolai is so upset that Sunny wants to go to the Sudan, I myself don't want her to go and wonder why should she risk her young wonderful life in such a savage area so torn with people acting without souls toward each other.  I myself am a Black woman, much older than Sunshine but, I would not go to that dangerous place.  Similar to some of the crime infested neighborhoods of my city Philadelphia!  Too dangerous for me and most people to choose to live in and usually even avoid visiting.

I WISH SUNNY WOULD NOT GO! But, it is the kind of person she is that compells her, she possess the kind of nature, vision and love for others that our great leaders, male and female, are made of.  However, in the genocidal Sudan it is not just death that is a possibility but, as Nikolai said to her, the brutal things the men may do if they catch her.  Sunny is an innocent, she has never really experienced the savage cruelty of human nature; hence, IMO, her idealism also fuels her motivation for this trip.

That was some powerful possessive love making Nikolai put on Sunshine, he loves her so and is so scared of her being harmed over there in Sudan, even killed, I'm so sorry for his despair!

And, I like the Russian translations being at the end of the story instead of within context; so that the spirit-rhythm (or sense) of what is happening is not broken; anyway, I pretty much get enough feeling of what he is feeling, the later English translations are also for me like an added thrill that I enjoy!

Title: Chapter 4: With your kiss my life begins

WOW!  This story just keeps exciting me, its fun and sometimes gives me a few laughs, too.

I think Sunshine is deeply hurt that her father relented so easily for her to "prostitute" herself with Nikolai in order to save Daddy because, she thought Papa's love for her would be deeper, like hers' is for him; that he should continue to seek ways for an alternative, no matter how fruitless!  As, would any decent female of moral standards, Sunny really cringes at commiting this intimacy of relationship with Nikolai, she's also ashamed of her "loose" voluntary intimacy with him today!  True the liquor did greatly weaken her controls and inhibitions but, she wasn't actually drunk.  She was attracted to Nikolai!  However, this proposed sexual relationship is definitely still traumatic for her as it would be for any decent female!

Title: Chapter 13: You know I tell the truth... We are just the same

I'm glad to finally get a lot of love making between Nikolai and Sunshine because, its been deficient.  The love making was warm and sweet!  It was good to hear Sunny muse to herself how much she misses Nikki when he's away, he deserves her special feelings, he loves her so much.

I don't like Sergei getting so personal with Sunny, hugging her, because he has romantic feelings for her, I don't want him causing problems in her relationship.

Why does Nikolai hate Pop Jones?.... maybe he fears him as a threat, to take Sunny away or is he jealous of Sunny's love for her father?... Nikki doesn't want to share any of her.  Evidently, he's been so love deficient even when a child.

Title: Chapter 31: By The Time You Come Round to Me

This chapter was a lot of fun and laughs:    Nikolai and Anatoy's drunken camaraderie, Nikki extolled the perfections of his beloved Sunshine while agreeing with Anatoly that she is too good for him, their jovial discussion of their "matching" tattoos, GAWD! that was cute and funny their calling them matching only cause both got them at same time in A.C.  Upon Anatoly's return to his apartment and finding Sergie there he tries  to knock some sense into the lovelorn puppy's head to leave off seeking heart of Sunny!

I love Nikki making dinner for Sunny; a sweet togetherness and while he also confirms to her, with all the reasons, her heart is safe with him, he can be trusted to always love her.  A romantic evening together of TV, popcorn and then wonderful sex!  They are good together and development toward their new relationship is nicely evolving!.

Title: Chapter 30: By The Time You Make Up Your Mind

I liked the flashbacks to Sunshine's mother Jasmine, her good wisdom given about the positive of human nature for change:  "The whole of human history is predicated on one fact. People change.  People change everyday". Jasmine said. “We grow and we learn. We change based upon what we have learned. Every time you go to school and learn something new, you change. You’ve changed from just five minutes ago."  I think Sunny will use this as her confidence that Nikolai can change for the better.

I enjoyed Nikki and Sunny's day together:  a comfortable pleasant breakfast with humorous bantering and their lovely walk; just leisurely chatting and Sunny getting to know more of his "beginnings", little by little.  I love that Nikolai is taking his courtship of her slow; it is more important to him to win her!  Nikolai is wonderful, truly a woman's dream.!!

Title: Chapter 1: Who they are

Great cast I like all of them.  Especially  Sunshine "Sunny" Jones, she is so beautiful, sexy and charismatic.  And the actor playing Nikolai, has a European handsomeness a mysterious type of look, suitable for a gangster type and definitely fits the enigmatic characteristics I feel about Nikolai as I have proceeded to read thru chapter four. I Love that the actor who played Shaft is cast in the role of Jacob "Pop" Jones, he's well suited, also, I always enjoyed his acting.

Title: Chapter 38: But It Wasn't Built to Last

Sergei is insanely jealous, that's his major motivation, Nikolai would never hurt Sunshine, not even to keep her.  I want to really punch Sergei for his destructive seed he's planted in Sunny's mind, just because he can't have her!

And Sergei is a criminal too, does that mean he would hurt her?

I'm sure that Nikki as a Mobster is sometimes brutally bloody also he has Killed several men but, that's the business he's in or else he can't survive, even alive!  I love Nikolai and so does Sunshine, so of course we are both biased!

Sunny's dilemma hurts my heart, to love a man so deeply; yet, she must keep shuting out her opinions about his criminal business and now Sergei has terribly characterized that persona of Nikolai.  And Nikki daily fears that she will discover that bloody Mobster part of him and leave him forever; HE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT HER!  She has given him life, not merely sexual but, brought forth out of him that person he perhaps would have been if his youthful circumstances of life had not pulled him to crime!

This is a bittersweet love for both of them and makes my heart weep!!!

Title: Chapter 37: I'll Send You My Best Part 2

I enjoyed their day of frivolity, while being tourist in Paris, going to the art museum, poetic leisurly walks and gift shopping.  I think these are the first gifts Sunny has bought Nikolai and I smiled with his delight.  This was fun!

Like young lovers should be and indeed, Nikolai in his great love for Sunshine is just the boy at heart he never got the chance to be!  Today, with her he is able to live in fantasy that lost innocence!

I'm so glad Sunshine has invited Nikolai to be her date for the formal dinner the firm is giving, she is really making him a part of her life and he loves feeling that special inclusion.  They are moving forwards as one.

I like Stanislavsky, he's been a good "father" to Nikolai and Kostya is adorable!

I loved this chapter, I myself had a lot of fun, I felt like I was part of it all!

OMG!  YOU GO SUNNY!!  How she made love to Nikolai was so Beautiful!  She NEEDED to fully experience and TASTE, all of him!  They are truly wonderful together!

YES!  After that long 18/hours in that desolate cell in Sudan, cut off from the world, from life, from Nikolai; cut off from the chance to fully experience her Love for him that she denied to herself out of foolish fear, now she is determined to cheat herself no longer!  Perhaps, Sunny has been taught an appreciation for that old saying

 "Life is Short"!

Title: Chapter 11: With your child's eyes ... You are more than you seem

I'm so glad Nikolai let Sunny go to the party, otherwise that was gonna cause a big rift between them!

But, Nikki is very possessive, he's falling in love with her but feels his hold is only because of the debt!

Title: Chapter 12: The places you've been ...The things you have learned ...They sit with you so beautifully

Nice that Nikolai and Sunshine are sharing experiences to get to know each other and Nikki  needs this more than Sunny, to have a real friend in the woman he gives his heart to.

I still think there is a deeper story to how Nikki got the tattoo in the center of his back, which he got in prison, why is it in the center of his back, strange place, so whats the story that hasn't been told yet by him!

Title: Chapter 33: Around the Kinda Misery I Find Part 1

That was horrible how Stanislavsky's young son died and for his wife to unexpectantly see his dead wounded body lying there in the street after the car ran over him, really tragic!

Truly Nikolai had an impoverished childhood, lacked the love of his parents even on his deathbed his father cannot love at all, only meaness.

Wonderful that Nikolai and Sunshine can communicate across the thousands of miles of being on different continents by the visual telephone internet.  AH!  The wonders of science!

I loved the part in here about her relationship with her mother and the date they proposed to to have at the Met!

The dress Nikolai bought for Sunny was absolutely gorgeous, he really does have great taste!!  And Sunny's hair looked beautiful, I loved the flower holding the side of her hair back!

OMG!  Great date...Great Lovemaking afterward and I really loved it when during their intercourse "Sunshine is moaning so loudly into his mouth that his throat rumbles with the vibrations."  Now that is some real feel good Sex!!!

WOW!  This relationship is definitely no longer only Nikolai greatly wanting Sunny; she wants him very much too!

Title: Chapter 5: We are creatures of the wind

Such a gentle sweet communication between them; Sunny has made decent conditions including some to influence the relationship to be more romance than a material sexual agreement and conditions to help her in the beginning to save some of her dignity as a lady and force him to respect that.  Also, conditions that require more really getting to know each other.  The conditions for her brother Benji's education are wonderful.

SO GLad Sunshine is safe!

Hopefully Sunshine's discussion with Mr. Ukombozi will give her some illumination on her paranoia to take the reigns off her heart with Nikoia; actually she loves him deeply and he is a part of her very soul, so I think she doesn't have much choice and Better to fully live their love than to cheat herself.

Title: Chapter 34: Around the Kinda Misery I Find Part 2

The flashback to Sunny's childhood, the help Ms Washington gave and the advice of Bea, not to love a man like her father, (not to love Nikolai), imbeds a caution in Sunny's heart, is that why she sustains from giving into her love for Nikolai?

In experiencing Mrs. Achan's plight, I see now the deep value in helping the tragic situation of the people in the Sudan. Sunny is doing a wonderful thing, nearly divine, to help Mrs. Achan save her farm and become economically self sufficient for the survival of self and family, even for mere food and clothing.   And, Mrs. Achan's determination to realize her dream of keeping her family farm via a loan Sunny is helping her get; it is enlightening to me about the need for a human to fight to achieve their dream even against seemingly insurmountable obstacles.  Mrs. Achan's dream is not just for the material success but, its' achievement will also nourish the deepest part of her humanity and sense of self.  As humans we need our dreams and its fulfillment!

Good thing Sunny sustained her promise to Nikolai and did not go out unguarded, the rally participants are now in danger for their lives!
