This is a foray into the unfamiliar, so I'm not really sure what to classify this one-shot as.  A semi-poetic period piece perhaps?  I started writing this a month and a half ago but couldn't finish it for crying.  Several times I thought about going back to it, but wasn't in the mood for tears.  This week, life has set the scene, so I decided to complete it.  Because I've received several good-natured shamings for inspiring work-time tears, I'll offer a warning:  If you're somewhere where such displays of emotion are undesirable, you might want to save this read for later.
