Title: Chapter 6: Mama Say
I am having a hard time feeling anything for Saul because I actually don't feel like he really regrets having sex with Alicia. Idk, I feel like it was great sex and therefore that was why he did it but I still love you Lynne. Like he compartmentalized his actions and can't grasp the severity of the situation. As Lynne feels, this wasn't a one off thing, he continued and that showed lack of respect and love for his marriage, wife and family. I loved her friend saying, Saul threw the love away when he slept with that other woman. Yesss, Lynne don't feel obligated to stay because it wasn't you, it was Saul and he has to live with the consequences. A lost wife, lost love of his life and a crazy stalker chick.
I really want him to see the disillusionment in Mal's eyes and hear his son tell him that he doesn't want to be the man that his father is. Wonder how he will feel hearing that.
so happy it's back and can't wait for more.
Author's Response: I think you said it just right. Saul compartmentalized the sex with Alicia and his feelings for his wife and family in order to give himself permission to continue to have sex with Alicia. The evidence of that is that he keeps saying "it was just sex". I think a lot of men can separate sex and love quite easily. It's why the "it was just sex" or "she didn't mean anything" excuse is always used when men cheat. The problem is that a lot of women DON'T separate sex and love. It's a package deal, so when their men cheat it means something more to the women they cheat on. That's the type of woman Lynne is...she doesn't separate sex and love. Because of this, Saul is going to have long, rocky road to forgiveness. And even if he GETS forgiveness, it doesn't mean he's going to get his wife back.
As far as Saul and his kids? The way they feel about him now is going to lay him LOW...especially after a confrontation with Mal. That's coming up soon. Thanks for reading.
