Easy?! We don't want no stinkin' easy! Lol! I couldn't let it go just like that. It would have been way too pat of an ending. Besides, don't you think they jumped into things awfully quickly? I mean, sure, they've been friends forever. Sure, they have awakened to some very deep and real feelings for one another. Sure, it seems perfect, but before he slips a ring on her finger, don't they wanta, I don't know, date? Is she sure about Gabriel? What is up with Lucas and Gabriel, anyway? They've had a weird vibe from the beginning. Obviously, Aaliyah and Gabriel are dealing with some insecurities and some baggage that could spell disaster for their newly formed relationship, if they don't give themselves the opportunity to work through them. For heaven's sake, they haven't even said, "I love you!" smh. (Author takes deep breath, and carefully puts soapbox away).
Obviously, I have a bit of a soft spot for both of these guys. I love that Gabriel is confident enough to know his own worth, realistic enough to recognize that you can't win 'em all and yet self deprecating enough to be able to laugh at his own foolishness. I love how offended he is on Aaliyah's behalf, and I love that he's able to roll with the punches in the business world.
Lucas is sweet, caring and artistic. He's willing to do whatever it takes to ensure Aaliyah's happiness, including denying himself the love he so desperately needs from her. I felt so sad when I was writing this part, with him dragging himself up the stairs with only Calliope for company.
However, I know that things will come out right for both men in the end. No, if you'll check, she isn't going to end up in a threesome with them, lol. Will she turn to Gabriel for comfort, now that Lucas has run away? Will she wait for him, faithfully, and pine away with loneliness? Will she "choose me," like the Tamia song, and learn to stand strong on her own? Will she accept Lucas if, and when, he decides to return? I'm not telling (singsong voice). You'll just have to wait and see. ;-p
