Title: Chapter 1 "For the Love of Eirinn"

WOW! such a good chapter, loved the ending and the love scene was so sweet and loving.. please dont wait so long to update next time! cant wait for more

Author's Response:

I'm really happy so many people liked the lovemaking, there was a lot of pressure to deliver after so much build up :p
I am sorry for the long wait, life has been stressful. But I already have a sort of outline for the next chapter so it shouldn't be too long :)

Crap so I forgot half of what I wanted to say. Good for Morgana having problems does not mean you turn on your friends. Also did she know the full extent of Morguase's plan? Thank you for redeeming her character.

Nice use of Mithian. She obviously doesn't want to marry a man that loves another. I wonder what she will do now?

As long as Mithian is not a man snatcher I'm fine with her friendship with Gwen.

Many good men are available.  Why does it always have to be Arthur?  Is it because of his noble background?

Author's Response:

Firstly, thank you for your review! I really appreciate readers taking the time to drop me a line. I don't interpret Mithian as a 'man snatcher'. In fact I find that term rather sexist because it obscures the man's agency and foists blame entirely on the woman. Arthur is a grown man with a mind of his own, and a future king besides, so I think he has more power in this situation than either Mithian or Gwen. Even in the show, Mithian didn't strike me as malicious in any way, she was a sweet woman who simply didn't realize that Arthur was in love with someone else.

Sorry for the longer response, but I really feel that in a show and fandom where misgoyny is rampant and women are already so marginalized from the narrative, we need to stop tearing each other down. I like Mithian, and Gwen, and even Morgana. The men are no less culpable than they when it comes to bad choices and mistakes.

Oh I haven't forgotten that an Arthur-sponsored ass-whooping is suppposed to becoming Melwas' way.

Author's Response:

Don't worry dear, I'm saving that up especially for you ;)

Can you send your stories to BBC?  Your ARWEN version so full of love, raw desire, and unfulfilled passion!  Their writers could learn from you.

Guinevere's character was portrayed beautifully.  She's no servant either.  She was never one in the legends!

Absolutely ARWEN aching for each other!  Keep up the excellent writing!

**blush** Thank you! I'm so flattered by your review. I do wish the BBC would explore her character more fully, give her a fleshed out back story etc. Oh well. That's why we have fanfic ;)

"Guinevere's character was portrayed beautifully.  She's no servant either.  She was never one in the legends!  "

Thank you so much for this! I love Guinvere and it's very important to me that her character is portrayed respectfully and creatively.

I have several feelings about BBC's decision to make Gwen a servant: I think Angel Coulby's race adds a layer of significance and depth to the character that's both positive and problematic. It's problematic because I think as a culture we're extremely comfortable with seeing women of color in subservient/powerless roles, and I don't know that enough fans question this aspect of the show. On the other hand, Gwen's marginalization (both in the show and in fandom) is part of why so many of us relate to her (I know it's certainly why I relate to her). Of course, her beauty and strength and grace are remarkable too, but it's her empathetic plight that's really the hook for me.

When I began this story, I didn't know if I wanted Guinevere to be a servant, but I did know I wanted her positioned within the context of marginalization: hence my decision to make her a Pagan. It's Guinevere's resilience and courage in the face of oppression I find most compelling, whether she's a serving girl with strong ideas about justice, or a noblewoman who remains loyal to the gynocentric pagan tradition in the face of incursive patriarchy.
Sorry for the super long-winded response! :)

Title: Chapter 1 "For the Love of Eirinn"

Gwen can not marry that disgusting, repulsive, libidinous PIG of Melwas!  Will she find a way to avert the impending nuptials?  If Gwen wants to save Eirinn a marriage with Melwas must be avoided at all costs!

Wonder if Melwas is responsible for the carnage?  What other ways can he think of to coerce Gwen to marry him if not by foul means?

Is Arthur aware of the danger Gwen is in?  He'd better do something before he loses the woman he has developed feelings for!  If Gwen means everything to him then nothing on earth will stop him from arriving to Eirinn and fight for her!

If Morgana has been found, then it'd be a good excuse for Gwen to leave Eirinn and go to Camelot and find out more news about her friend!  She could escape Melwas's clutches and land into the safe arms of Arthur!

ARWEN must prevail!!!!

Author's Response:

Lara, as always I love your regular and detailed reviews :) Don't worry, ARWEN will prevail in this story: they just need to get through some stormy waters first :)
