Love the angst in the chapter. I find myself hating Melwas and his treatment of Gwen. I can't imgine how she would fare being wife to someone so cruel and vile. I can't wait for the return of Arwen. there do end up together, don't they? i'm glad that things have improved for wome since those days when they were treater like commodities. You nailed it though, I can just imagine how Gwen is feeling being forced to marry someone she doesn't love like that. Enjoying your writing very much!

I just recently found this story and I'm absolutely hooked. I read Book I and the three chapters of Book II pretty much in one go. I love the setting, your characterisation is great and the love story between Arthur and Gwen is just a joy to read. Really well done. I absolutely cannot wait for the next part. ♥
And I hope you're feeling better after that tooth extraction. I know from personal experience how painful that can be.

Another phenomenal chapter. Very vivid and sensual. My favorite line, " Gwen looked at the rose in wonderment: its vermillion colour was poised poignantly between heartache and lush desire, sweetness and velvety promise, the pleasure of beauty and the pain of its memory."

Thanks for updating; I would really love to see Gwen and Arthur to talk out their problems and more importantly make up:) Love these two; their chemistry is amazing.
It's sad that Gwen and Morgana are not close anymore; not sure they'll ever get back to where they were before...sad, really.

Will Gwen ever forgive Arthur for his crude behavior and bad manners? Will she share her troubles with him and explain the reasons of her betrothal?
ARWEN are destined to be! Even Igraine had given them her blessings!
Is there any hope for Morgana? Or has Morgause' evil influence entirely consumed her?
Is there an alliance between Melwas and the witch sisters? If so, then will ARWEN or Merlin be observant and suspect them?
Will ARWEN consummate their love prior to Gwen's nuptials to sever forever any interest Melwas may have had on her?

How symbolic and magically beautiful! Igraine has blessed ARWEN with the touch of the rose, the language of true love!
Gwen must feel forlorn with the loss of Morgana. Is there any part of that friend that still exist? Or is she entirely gone?
Who could have driven Uther mad? Morgana? Are Morgause/Morgana and Melwas plotting against Camelot? Will ARWEN and Merlin be wary of any danger?
When will Gwen tell Arthur about her reasons for the marriage? He has every right to know!
Wonder if Arthur shares Gwen's fantasies in regard to the consummation of their love?
Looking forward to more ARWEN special and delicious moments together!!!

Morgana and Gwen had a legitimate friendship in your story, I am saddened that that is no longer the case. I hope they can make their way back to that eventually.
I like how you are pulling in some element Merlin itself with Uther and mandrake root. Can we expect a longer story about Uther's past crimes and the reasons for his choices? Looking forward to your next update. :)

Thanks so much for the review AG! One of the things I hate about the show is how the writers mishandled the potential for a beautiful woman/woman friendship. I try to amend some of that in the story, mostly by having them be equal in station, and I'm hoping to demonstrate that their friendship is strained by conflicting destinies and loyalties, in more complex ways than the show's botched I-suddenly-hate-you schpiel. Hopefully I succeed...

Lovely, lovely chapter! I love the tension between A/G and Arthur being at a loss of how to apologize but then settling on leaving her a rose and a note was perfect!
Oh the ending! I'm very much interested to find out what happened to Uther. I wonder if Morgana had anything to do with it.
