Thanks for the welcome! It's so interesting that you birng up superstion. Minevera won't open the box because because she would see it as a point of honor. She would never go back on her word. As a very pragmatic historian I wouldn't characterize her as someone who gave a lot of credence to supertitions. Schuyler, however, is definitely suspertitious. He's absurd that way.

Very interesting makes you want more. I want to know what happened, why he gave her the pin? How did he know her given name?

Schuyler is Min's husband. They both live in the future and work together in the past. They get up everyday and go to the sixteen hundreds to work. At this point, Min hasn't met Schuyler nor has she been recruited to work for this future company. Both she and Schuyler, who were born in different time periods, were headhunted for this company because of their unique expertise.
Due to trouble at work Shuyler gives Min a pin that will allow them to travel in time without the knowledge of their employers. With it, they'll be able to escape in time and live happily ever after! I think they decide to settle as beach bums in their own hidden corner of time and space.

I like this, but i hate it too! I wish I would have checked to see if it was a one shot before I read it! :(

Phew! I was worried that you hated it because of the content. I will be posting a story with several chapters on the site soon. It's a beta version of a novel I'm almost finished with. Perhaps that will make up for your disappointment here!
