At this point, why would she make a comment about jumping his bones? Even if he is goodlooking, or with her plan, that's a bit off right now. He just stole her position! I'm assuming since he did make partner, that he actually has some talent. However, right now I find totoally disgusting.

I will give one small concession; she was right about Jonathan and his feeling for her. She never wanted it. However, she should have just made that all clear to him years ago! I'm wondering why she never did. Or maybe she was busy using him, or rather his friendship, to keep James close. It was James who I think she always wanted anyway.

Title: Chapter 14: Joyeux Noël (Part I)

I'm kinda disappointed with Adele's attitude. James has-and has had-enough contention in her life with mother figures. I'd hoped she'd have an easier time of it with Tristian's mother. She's going to be a mother herself, and I wanted her to have someone in that role in her corner. She's never had that. She's going to want and need that as her pregnancy progresses. Enough of the fighting and bitterness with "mothers" already; whether it be her own, or someone else's. She went there for a fresh start and I just didn't want her to go all the way to Europe only to run to the same crap; to have to fight his mother now, as well! Its like she cant get away from it. She deserves to be able to move on from all that kind of stuff already.

And James just needs to go on and accept Tristians' proposal. It'll be worth it. What's the point in any of the rest otherwise. It is final (hopefully) and it is serious, but so is being a mother; and even more so. Not sure whether she realizes that or not. She should given the way her own mother treated the responsiility. She'll be glad she did in the end.



Author's Response:

Adele is a different breed from Pearl for the main reason is that Adele doesn't like James because she is very protective of Tristen as he is her only son. Though being an American most likely contributes some to her bitterness for James. That is a characteristic that will definitely be worked out through this story and the sequel. I agree that James has had enough with dealing with mothers and it would be nice for her to have someone on her side during the pregnancy. But when people are set in their times, it takes time for them to accept new people and things. But James does have a new start in Europe, but no one said it was going to be perfect, LOL.

I think James probably doesn't know how she feels about marriage because she's never had a good model of what a good marriage is like nor a model of what it takes to be a good wife. This also applies to being a mother. She's never had a good mother, but that isn't going to stop her from trying to be a good mother. Marriage and children are both serious and very final, but at the moment, James feels more comfortable with the idea of having children than marrying Tristen. That may all change though! :)

Title: Chapter 15: Joyeux Noël (Part II)

I know its not the kids' fault, but I just dont trust anything coming her way in the way of her family right about now. James was right, if these people wanted her in their lives, why didn't any of them ever reach out to her? Instead, she's had to suffer all alone in the world being abused by a crazy mother, and some psycho drug dealing pimp who developed a fatal attraction to her as a kid culminating in his rape of her! Plus, she's had a sibling somewhere, a niece somewhere, and a father; who apparently knew where she was all along, but did nothing for her--that is if one could trust anything Pearl had to say. Maybe the kid just found out about her, and maybe the sibling never knew about her; James didn't know either. The timing just really sucks!

Now, she starting a new life away from all that crap, and here this kid shows up unexpectedly, to potentially bring all that mess with her! Ughh!!

James cant seem to catch a break here.

Title: Chapter 5: Lesson Learned

Yes, I agree that Pearl and Charles/Trigger need to be dealt with. What is it that they need from her? I mean why do they want her back so badly anyway? Seriously, they're following this poor girl all over the place! Why? He can get other dealers to do the job, no matter how good she may have been, and Pearl clearly never gave a damn about her, so what is it. And Pearl is thoroughly digusting and must be hurt epsecially bad!

Also, I'm only guessing, but was the man that raped James possibly Trigger? I get an intimate vibe from him. Its obvious his interest is more personal and sexual in nature. That crack he made about her "being good in more ways than one" proved that. Nothing else that could mean. Like he has first-hand knowledge.

I so want James to get out of this and away from them. The kid is trying to do better and make a better life for herself. They got to her before she had a chance, but she's decided that it doesn't have to remain that way. For that I will always be in her corner.

This a wonderful story you're telling here. Enjoying it very much. Keep it up.

I wish I could explain why Pearl and Charles are going after her in a sentence or a paragraph, but it would be hard to without skipping any important details. I can say that why they are going after her will be something that you will least expect!Trigger is the kind of man that is "too close for comfort" if you catch his attention. How he looks at James isn't the way a "stepfather" should look at a "stepdaughter"and that is a good theory of him being her rapist, but I'm gonna have to keep my lips sealed, LOL. 

As for James, she is trying to make something of herself, but with Pearl and Charles looming over her shoulder, she has to work three times as hard to prove to them and most importantly herself that she have a better life and Tristen is there to help her.

Title: Chapter 6: Monsters, Songbirds, and Weaves

Have to say that I kinda expected this. Only because I knew Pearl and Trigger wouldn't know where to get off. What I am surprised about however, is why Pearl and Trigger didn't expect this. As was said, James ran a whole drug ring for Trigger, and even worse, he still wants her to run it. You have to be some kind of hard to do stuff like that. Pearl still thinks she's that kid she bullied and pushed around all those years; never really paying attention to what her daughter was actually doing for Trigger, because she was in it for the money. Thats going to cost her, and Trigger.

Author's Response: Pearl and Trigger knew that James would react, but not in the way that they had thought. Trigger probably assumed that Tristen being beaten to near death would be the ammunition he needed to get James to come back to him and Pearl, but in fact it was reverse. Yes, all Pearl cared about was the money that was being brought in and not what was really going on, but she will find out soon enough what kind of monster she helped created. How sad Pearl truly is. To sell her daughter, and herself so cheaply....what a waste. It was always all about her, no matter what she had to do.  She let that devil crawl into her life and sacrificed her daughter to him because of what she thought was her due.  Like any of that was James' fault. But James had to pay the consequences though. Why the hell does Trigger need this young woman so badly?

Who is her father anyway? He's worse than Trigger? He's dying and now things become clear to him? He just up and left her to whatever fate Pearl, and Trigger saw fit?

What a wonderful, but, oh so sad chapter.

Pearl wanted James to suffer because James reminded her so much of James' father who caused her a lot of pain. Her father will definitely be revealed over time, but he is the least of James' worries at the moment, LOL. But you have to wonder how much Pearl is telling the truth about James' father! Is he really crueler than Trigger, no one knows except Pearl and she isn't very trustworthy as it is. Thank you so much!

I'd also like to know why Trigger felt he had to be the one to inform James about her father instead of Pearl? What has that got to do with him? How and why did this pig become fixated on James like this? I mean, he raped her as a young girl! What the hell is that all about!

As Pearl said, Trigger is out of control. He is so obsessed with James that he will do just about everything and use any trick to get near her. Trigger is a very unstable character with odd reasonings. Trigger was intrigued by James' innocence and he wanted to be the one to corrupt that in more ways than one. He wanted to mold her into something that he could be the only one to control, but she managed to escape after dealing with him for so many years.

This drove him to become more obsessed over her. I hope that answers a question or two. :)
