Oh, ALSO, I want to say:
I know you want to please your readers. But I also know that you need to write from your own heart and mind. You cannot please everyone. Write Valerie the way you see her as her creator. Her insecurities are apart of who she is. Don't feel like you have to change that simply because others find it "annoying" or off putting.
A part of creating art is to confront people with things in life that challenge their ways of thinking and/or hold a mirror up to their own experiences. Some people can't deal with that.
If Valerie is a mirror for you, or others who may be feeling the way she does, it is far more impactful for you to continue to explore her journey the way that you are rather than to change it to please others. Life doesn't work that way.
So, do you. Let Valerie be who she is and change according to your own plans, not someone elses.

I can't begin telling you how many times I have read and reread this comment. Thank you so much for your encouragement and advice. You wont know how much this comment really helped me as far as keeping on with the story as I originally planned. Thank you so very much.
Reviewer: OddBlood SignedWell, these last two chapters have been amazing. Your writing is all encompasing. I've never been so inside the head of a character as Valerie. It does take some getting used to, but at this point she feels so familiar to me. I recognize this person, and so it's easier for me to go on this journey with her.
Henry is, dare I say it: almost perfect. I fear you have some other part of him locked up, waiting to spring on us that won't be so swoon worthy. You write him perfectly, and I almost wish we could get a chapter from his POV, so that I could know fully what he's thinking.
Anyway, all that to say I am fully invested in these characters, and cannot wait to see what you will put them through next. Apart of me wants this to continue to be blissful for Valerie, because she obviously deserves it. You made me give a damn, and when a writer does that, they have done thier job well.

Reviewer: OddBlood SignedI've been reading this story, and haven't reviewed. With this last chapter, I decide to remedy that.
When I first began reading, I was entirely too uncomfortable with Valerie's crippling insecurity. A lot of her feelings and actions, and way of existing in the world reflect my own too closely. When I read, I want to escape. Not be reminded of my own failings. I want to pretend that I am somone else.
But there was something here that kept me reading, and so was utterly delighted once introduced to the character of Henry. He is a a complex puzzle wrapped up in a very appealing package. Your description of him reminds me of the actor Benedict Cumberbatch. Seemingly complex. Oddly beautiful. Intelligent. Charming. Extremely giving, though quite capable of being closed off and secretive. (I don't know the man, this is just guess work)
And the more I read, the less peturbed I am with Valerie.
This last chapter was perfect. Not overly sexual, but still sexy. Getting to Henry's character more deeply so that we could better understand his motives and intentions was just what we as readers needed at this point.
And Valerie is FINALLY starting to trust herself. I cannot wait to see what happens next (though I have a good idea).

Reviewer: OddBlood SignedI can't believe I missed two updates! I've been checking this story on and off for like what, the last two years? Has it been that long? Feels like it. I'm happy to see that you didn't abandon it completely.
Generally I like the direction this is going. Sad to see it end! Of course Im rooting for a happily ever after, or some realistic manisfestation of the sentiment. I love how much Henry has turned around when it comes to how he treats Val and admitting his own feelings. I like his patience with her. I unserstand her hesitation. I want her to be OK. So whatever adjustments you're making, remember this is your story, so as long as you're comfortable with how you get there, that's really all that matters. Good writing is meant to evoke all sorts of emotions, and you can't please everyone.
Anyhoo, update SOOOOON!
