Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 1

Wow...I can't imagine experiencing that kind of pain...though I've felt it when my brother and his wife lost their three year old son in a car accident...we're still healing from that...wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone...

I do know that Christian and Gabi have to get through this kind of devastation together...grieving is a process...and there are no words of comfort from this indescribable pain...they just have to be there for each other...

I smell trouble ahead...the lines of communication have been shut down as each is dealing individually with their own survivor's guilt...but they just can't get through by themselves...they have to do it as a united front...

This is a very hard subject for me to read about because it touches so close to home...but I look forward to seeing where you take them from here...looking forward to the next update...

Author's Response: I'm sorry for your family's loss. And I would never wish such a thing on anyone, it's gonna get a lot harder for them, for Christian especially because he's gonna have to be strong for Gabi but still be able to grieve and take care of the new baby.

Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Gabi needs some serious grief counseling...not only she a danger to herself (not eating and refusing to deal with reality)...she's also posing a danger to her newborn child also...I sympathize with both she and Christian...I really do...but since Christian seems the stronger of the two...it is he who will have to help her pull her through...hope the baby and Gabi are okay...

Could you make the chapters a little longer...thanks for sharing...looking forward to the next update...

Author's Response:

Yes, she's on a true downward spiral. And it really is going to get worse before it gets better. She's in true denial about the death of son, and by not dealing with that she can't focus on the new baby.  Christian is going to have to be strong for the both of them but when is being strong for them too much, I mean he's gonna break eventually. We'll see.

I'll def., be making the chapters longer.

Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 3

Poor Christian...and Gabi...and Xander...

The mind really is a fragile thing...and no one can say how they would react if they were in a similiar situation...so on first reading this...I was devastated for both Gabi and Chris...but truthfully...I got very angry with Gabi for a hot minute...and I know that's so wrong...but I did...she's still so trapped within her own world of pain...that she refuses to see just how much pain Christian is in too...he lost his son right along with her...they both lost Judah...I guess she has the right to be selfish...but at some point...she will have to face reality that their first son is gone forever and that they have another son who needs them both...how fair is that to the newborn Xander that his own mother won't even acknowledge his existence...

My heart shatters for Christian...Gabi too...like I said...the old adage of 'your blues ain't like mine' holds true...I wonder if there is some kind of support group they can join...surely the parents of all those other children that were killed with Judah are experiencing much of the same emotions Gabi and Chris are...

Damn, this is so powerful and I'm boo-hooing over here already...they have such a long road ahead of them...and it will be painful...I shudder to think how much worst it's going to get for them...great story...heartbreaking...but what a great story...

Into The West banner

"This time and place, as I look upon your face..remember as long as you live,

it was my love  to give"

-except from It Was My Love to Give by Barbara LaBarbera

       ~//~

Sally Parker had heard talk of Indian or "Injun" attacks out West, but that was just talk from around town. Right? Wrong.

Sally embarks on an enthralling, and often dangerous journey when she is kidnaped and taken into the Comanche Tribe. However, the journey isn’t easy, between battles with the increasingly, dedicated, hard-nosed, "war chief," Nakotah Quanah, and trying to fit into a strange society which she feels she doesn’t belong.

Just when things begin to look up, what happens when an enraged mistress wants her servant back and will go through all costs to get her back? Will this kick-off the beginning of many battles for the Comanche with the Texan government or can Sally defuse the situation in time?

Either way Sally is going to have make a life-altering decision that will not only affect her, but maybe for the ‘ayashe’ as well.

Title: Chapter 5: July 2, 1847

Out of the frying pan...into the fire for sure...poor Sally...her impetuous nature has surely landed her in a real pickle this time...better the stranger you know...than some unknown one...wonder if Nakotah will rescue her from these band of degenerates before it's too late...no telling what they'd do to her when they take her to where they're going...a woman's virtue is certainly not safe around these 'men'...

Looking forward to more...really, really enjoy this story...it's getting very interesting...

Great start...you hooked me with the premise...anxiously awaiting more...love stories with Native American heroes...can't wait...and can't wait for the adventure to begin for Sally...

Title: Chapter 2: June 25, 1847

Oh, my...but that was pulse-pounding!!!!

The imagery you invoked in your description of the Indian raid made me feel as if I was there experiencing the horrors myself...the fear...the smell of smoke of the many fires...the horrified screams of the townspeople...all communicated so beautifully...

Poor Sally...now she is truly all alone...can't say I'm sorry that Mrs. Pearl got hers...but the attack on her was so vicious...what will be Sally's fate now that she's been kidnapped and taken away by 'savages' as she believes...

Is it too early to start demanding a new update, pronto...wow...this is some story...I'm peeing my pants with excitement for the next installment...

Great update...you're rocking this story...

Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Yay...you're back...sorry for your writer's block...

Seems Sally has her own preconceived predjudices and notions about these 'savages'...it will be very interesting for her to get to know the culture of these people who abducted her...I know she has no reason to even like any of them...afterall she witnessed firsthand their 'savagery'...but I actually think that this may be the best thing that has happened to her so far in her young life...she has never know true 'freedom'...and she's about to embark on a journey with people who have a reverence for nature and all things in it...

I like that Sally retains her fighting spirit in the face of uncertainty and all things unfamiliar despite of being fearful for her life and her virtue...can't wait to see more interaction between her and the 'Aductor'...seems that he and his family are held in high esteem in their tribe...

Great story...please don't make us wait so long again for the next update...

Author's Response: Thank you for the review! I wanted to convey Sally's predjudice, because we all know we have them..but especially back then in the olden days lol We'll see if she changes her mind ;]

Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5

The horrors of the real world are much more powerful than any fanciful creations of a writer's imagining...

Keisha...poor thing...yes, she was very foolish to leave that party with Tyler without telling anyone where they were supposed to be going...she let her guard down...who knows...was it horniness...naivety...not having enough guile about the real dangers in the world...but should she pay for her temerity with her life...to be tortured so...we are all human...and so very falliable...how many of us really 'know' someone else...that why it's always on us to just be 'aware' of your surroundings and the company that you keep...I for one...feel very sorry for her...

Can't wait to see what happens next...I'm praying for a small miracle for her that she can somehow escape this psychopath's web...

Looking forward to more and Happy Halloween!!!

Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Thank goodness Keisha survived!!!!

For a second there I was screaming "NO, NO, NO!!!" when she called Julie instead of 911...but I guess that made more sense because they'd probably think she was hysterically crazy with her wild story of being kidnapped and tortured by some psychotic frat boy...but her girl came through and got her help!!!!

I hope they give him life without any possibility of parole or even the death penalty because I fear that Keisha nor any young will never be truly safe again while that psycho draws breath...

Moral to the story...be aware...and very afraid...and so very wary...because the things that go bump in the night in the real world are far more dangerous and sinister than our supernatural imaginings....

Love this story, girl...you rocked this out of the box!!!!

Title: Chapter 36: I'll Send You My Best Part 1

Oh thank you, thank you...for the update and especially Nikolai's POV while Sunny was locked in the safe room...the raw emotion...the desolation that any minute his world could be turned on its axis...perfection...and finally...THE CALL from Adu...that assured him that Sunny was safe and unharmed...I don't adequate words to explain how beautifully written that was...and I like how you slid in a little bit of Nikolai's history as the Nikolai the Bloody in there...

The reunion in Paris was amazing and oh, so hot...loved her massaging her man and reaquainting herself with him...the only thing that would it more perfect would have been her telling him what he so desperately wants/needs to hear...she loves him...oh, please...let it be soon...and I wouldn't mind if they've created a life together...they would make wonderful parents...and that little one would be so loved...Sunny says she his forever...now say THE WORDS, girl...

However, I was a little perplexed with Royce extending the invitation for Sunny to go back to the Sudan in the future...like Nikolai...I don't think I could take that again...I hope the wanderlust is finally out of her system...

I can't wait until Part 2...I'm strung out on this story and not ashamed at all to admit it...as always...superb!!!

Title: Chapter 23: When You Are on Your Own

I've noticed for awhile now that there have been many parallels between Nikolai's and Jacob's lives...they both had the fortune of having a remarkable woman come into their lives to guide them out of their darkness...for Jacob it was Jasmine...and for Nikki...it's Sunny...yet Jacob failed his beloved time and time again...she loved him in spite of himself...and I'm hoping Sunshine loves Nikolai the same...it bears repeating...Nikki has to let Sunny go...there is no other way...he has to show the strength of character to release her...it took Jacob to the point of the end of his life to do the 'right' thing and finally do something truly unselfish...let's hope Nikolai doesn't wait that long...I know it will break his heart to let her go...but let her go he must do...allow her to give him her heart with her own free will...let it truly be her choice...love is not a possession...it is meant to be...it will be...

I loved the caring way that Nikolai took care of Sunny's and Ben's needs...now he has to trust in his love for her and allow her to come to him freely of her own choice...this is such an emotional story...acts one and two have left me rooting for a 'happy' ending...maybe my idea of what exactly 'happy' means may not come to fruition...but still I hope...it's also amazing that Sunny gives so much of herself to ensure others' happiness...yet expects so little to come her way...that makes her so endearing...a rootable heroine if there ever was one...

Can't wait to read the third and final act of this beautiful story...great job, Onimosity...looking forward to more...

Title: Chapter 33: Around the Kinda Misery I Find Part 1

I enjoyed the structure of the chapter...

I love Stanislavsky's and Nikolai relationship...he has been more of a father to him than his own father has ever been...I really disliked his father...even on his deathbed...he couldn't find it in his cold heart to be civil to his only son...so he didn't like the path he took in his life...but he's still your son...your flesh and blood...was he trying to show Nikolai 'tough love' when he got imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit...well, first you have to love someone to show that...I can't stand parents who love their children conditionally...when they do as they wish...his callous behavior is one of the reason Nikolai turned out to be the 'criminal' he is...Nikolai is in part what he made him...and his mother is no better...she chose her husband over her child...what mother would do such a thing...

Stanislavsky's story about his son was heartbreaking...but I love how he used it to parallel his life with his beloved wife with Nikolai and Sunny's...I loved how he told Nikolai how he was responsible for taking the light out of her eyes...that really gave him something to chew on...but it was very clever how you juxposted that with Nikolai's visit at the hospital with his mother...and though I didn't like the wretched woman...she did give her son some sage advice about how his father's pride cost him his son's love and respect...and that pride can cost you to lose the very person you are trying to protect from the truth...I know Nikolai fears taking the light from Sunny's eyes with the truth...tarnish her image of him...but she deserves the truth...he wants her to open up to him by revealing her love for him...then he has to be just as willing to conquer his fear and open up to her and tell her the truth...the whole truth about who he really is and what he really does...yes, it's a huge risk...yes, she might not be able to be with him...but at least he will have been wholely honest with her and allow her to make her decision to be with him based all the information...he should remember how he felt when he found out about his father's deception when his so-called comrades learned of his father's treacherous behavior toward their fathers...he has to trust her with the truth...and trust her to love him in spite of who he really is and the things he's done...

For so long I believe the motivating forces in Nikolai's life have been resentment, bitterness, and sheer survival, and power...now, he has an even greater motivator in his life...his love for Sunny and a promise of true happiness and joy with her...it is my wish that he gets that happiness since he has had so little in his life before her...

This is such a journey...sigh...but I absolutely every minute of it...still hoping for the best...great job as always...I'm so addicted to this story...thanks for sharing this beautiful work of art with us...

Title: Chapter 22: You Know There's No Need to Hide Away

So Jacob finally got his real epiphany at this point in the story...his thinking is that his death will set his daughter free from the obligation that he placed upon her...he took his own life to save his daughter...set her 'free' from the bonds of her 'contract' with Nikolai...the first and the final unselfish thing he has done for his family...the question is now...will Sunny want to be free once she knows that the terms of her contract have changed with Nik...reading on...

Title: Chapter 24: I'll Send You a Sign...Just so You Know

Okay...my heart just broke...I know this is a dark fic...but darn it if I wasn't hoping against hope that it would have a happy ending...okay...I officially hate Darla...do I believe for a second  that she was suddenly struck by conscience and decided to do the right thing by her 'friend' Mr. Coffee...hell naw...that skank has been looking for ways to exact her revenge on Nikolai...and damn, if Jacob's death didn't place that means to an end squarely in her lap...she didn't tell Sunny what she told her out of any altruistic deed on her part...I refuse to beleive that...also, her getting the hell out of Dodge solidified my assumptions once Sunny found proof of Nikolai's betrayal in Jacob's apartment...good riddance to her...

Okay...so I'm not trying to justify Nikolai's actions...he was dead wrong with what he did to Jacob...damn, Jacob would have backslided on his own...but I'm trying to empathize with why he did what he did...Nikki has never had someone to truly love him in his life...that was until Sunshine...and fool that he was...he tried to hold on to that love the only way he knew how...with manipulation and deceit...more fool him, huh...it nearly broke me to read Sunny's reaction to Darla's disclosure...'he already had me'...poor Nikolai...poor Sunny...my heart weeps for them both...oh, why, oh why, oh why...

Onimosity...I gotta tell ya...you put your foot into this story...I know I'm going need a box full of Kleenex for the next update...but, 'gon head, girl...you're rocking this story...love it...

Title: Chapter 42: I've Made Up My Mind... to Let My Life Shine

Okay...I read this late, late, late last night...I would have left a review then...but then again I was too embarrassed to leave a review that late...didn't want to come off stalkerish...lol...

Girl, you are a master storyteller...a true craftsman...er...craftsperson...I love how you so subtlely tantalize the emotions...yet never giving your hand until the exact final moment...that takes skill and true workmanship to be able to pull off without becoming tedious for the reader...and you do it so well...I remember as I was reading (and I'm going back to read it again after I leave this review) being so sure I knew what was going to happen only to read a few lines later...that uh-oh, not so fast...it might not be going the way you expect...the way you played every beat to this story is inspiring...making me wish that I had one iota of the ability to draw these emotions out of a reader...but alas...I am but a mere reader...and not a writer...but still I'm envious (this is a compliment...and praise to your prowess as a skillful storyteller)...I hope these compliments aren't coming out as too flowery...because that is not my intent...I am serious...very few writers have that ability to move me so...and I am an avid reader...so count yourself in with the rarefied few who can achieve such a feat...

Now, on to the story...the scene with Sunny and Nikolai was so poignant and heartwrenching...I wept...like a hungry babe at its mother's busom...I wept...I had already built myself up to accept the inevitable...knew that it would not end well...and then her final acknowledgement of confessing her love for him...I thought...how cruel..she tells him she loves him...then leaves him...now, notice I'm still projecting...but when Nikolai refused as I knew he would to let her go...let her walk away from him and them...my heart soared...and I hoped again...and as I kept reading and realized Sunshine could no more walk away from him than she could stop herself from breathing her next breath...I believed then...that yes, sometimes true love happens in the most unexpected of places...in the strangest circumstances...between two people who at first glance have nothing in common...that love is not a choice...a conscious decision...and only for the deserving...it just is...what an epiphany...the way they washed the blood for each other...so symbolic and touching as if they were washing away the hurt, disillusionment, and fear of the past and embracing the future...

I also loved her visit with Sergei...and her analogy of them being fellow 'prisoners'...Sunny found that within her guilded cage...she discovered something of such value that she no longer wanted nor needed to be 'free'...and she gave to Sergei a means to 'free' himself by opening his mind to another world where he can become master of his own destiny...maybe he will go back to Moscow and open a legit business of his own...with Anatoly as the head of the crime family...maybe it will be his final 'gift' to his brother...to set him free from a life he never belonged to...still can't say I have much sympathy for him...but there must be something if Sunny can still find compassion for him...so eh...

I can't wait to read the epilogue...and I'm so glad that Stanislavsky gave Nikolai and Sunny a means to be free of the past...he really was a 'father' to his 'son' that Nikolai's own biological father never was...and he's right...it is a love story after all...not a fairytale...kudos again for writing such a compelling masterpiece...I loved, loved, LOVED it!!!

Author's Response: This nearly made me cry at work. I have no words. Thank you, just, thank you.

Title: Chapter 41: ...And Make My Life Shine

Onimosity...Onimosity...you know you're not right for this...Wednesday...evil necessity...just evil girl, just plain evil I tell you...

So Sunny still thinks of Sergei as her friend...knew that he wouldn't hurt her even though he turned the gun her way...and then why didn't she know that Nikolai would react the way he did...he loves you girl more than he loves his own life...he was so nonchalant all the while Sergei held him at gunpoint...but the moment when her life was in danger or what he perceived as danger...he literally lost it...Sergei is lucky to be stil breathing...and if Stanislavsky or any of the member to 'the family' find him...he is dead, dead, dead...

The worst scenario happened for Nikolai...all throughout their relationship he has tried so vigilently to shield Sunny away from his other self...the self that is capable of brutality and violence that an innocent mind such as hers could never comprehend...and in walks Sergei to 'save' the day...with his foolish plan...and put her in danger...and all hell breaks loose...he can no more control the darkness that resides in him than he can control his own heartbeat...oh, please don't let Sergei win...Nikolai is devastated...he thinks he's destroyed something inside of Sunny and how can she love a beast such as he after witnessing firsthand the level of violence he is capable of...Nikolai the Bloody came to the fore and there is no way that he can be contained within the box that Nikolai has tried to keep him in...and poor Sunny...her eyes are now wide open...and she can no longer ignore exactly what the man she loves really is...will she be brave enough to stay with him despite knowing what he is...or will she do the easy thing and walk away from him because of it...and I wonder exactly what were the words that Stanislavsky had to share with her...are they words that releases Nikolai from his obligations to the family...oh, you know how to drag this suspense out to the very end...but I'm not mad at you at all for it...you really know how to keep us running back for more...

So I'll be brave and wait patiently until Wednesday to see what exactly Sunny has decided...she loves him (those words should have been for Nikolai's ears and heart to hear) and not Cilla's...

So until next time...see ya around...but I still say you're so wrong to make me wait like this...but girl...thanks for doing your thing...what a great tale!!!!

Title: Chapter 25: I'll Be Long Gone

So I don't want to stone you...well, not anymore...girl, each word of that breakup scene was like a dagger to my heart...okay, so I know Nikolai is a real bastard...but I love me some him...he effed up...and I wanted to throw my arms around him...he knows there was no justification for his actions...no calming words he could relay that would ease his Sunshine's suffering...suffering...he himself inflected...that[s the worst rub of all...oh, Nikki, Nikki, Nikki...what were you thinking man...

I can't stand Sergei now...I suppose now he figures he thinks he finally got his 'in' with Sunny...but all throughout the story...hasn't Sunny repeatedly referred to him as her FRIEND...instead of moving in on her while she's so vulnerable...a true friend would try to truly comfort her...because no matter how horrid a person he thinks Nikolai is...Sunny cares deeply for him...enough that he has left her heart-broken...that cocky smirk of his when he saw Priscilla comforting him made me want to sucker punch him in the face...I wouldn't care now if Nikolai offs his butt...Nikolai may have lost Sunny...but he, Sergei, will never have her and live to tell about it...

I loved Priscilla in this update...she loves Miss Sunshine like all who meet her too...even she can recognize all the good she brought in the boss's life while she was with him...

Okay...I'm kinda resigned to the fact that I probably won't be getting my happy ending...but just as long as Sergei or Serge doesn't get her...I'm good to go...I'm still hoping that this separation will do both Sunny and Nikki some good...they do say that absence makes the heart grow fonder...if she comes back...then they were always meant to be...

Heartbreakingly devastating update...but I'm ready for more...well done, Onimosity...

Title: Chapter 21: Cause I Am Me, the Universe and You

I love the parallels and symbolism in this story...

Jacob...the flashback of Jasmine almost brought me to tears...Jacob was blessed to have had two remarkable women pass through his life to show him the way...his wife, who loved him unconditionally and saw him as so much more than he even dreamed himself to be...and his daughter...who gave up the future she dreamed of to secure his debts...and he failed them both miserably...until now...and now fate has stepped like a thief in the night to possibly prevent him from rectifying the mistakes of his past...how cruel...and ironic...

Nikolai and Jacob are very similiar indeed...they both live within a world of darkness of their own making...yet fate has been kind to them both by sending them someone to show them the path to light out of the darkness...lets hope that Nikolai makes smarter choices than Jacob did...he loves Sunny...adores her...yet he keeps doing things that will ensure that he loses her...he's afraid to show her his true heart because maybe he thinks he is not worthy of her love...or perhaps he knows that it is wrong how he 'got' her...or maybe he fears her rejection of him...don't know...but as much as it pains me to say this because I want them together so...but 'tis truth that I speak...he has to release her...let her go...and trust that she comes back to him...he must come to the realization that the greatest gift he can give her is not those expensive trinkets he buys her...but her freedom...and allow her to make a choice of her own FREE WILL...to come back to him...it's the only way...

Thanks for showing us more of Sunny's inner feelings...she is indeed the mystery in this story...I've come to believe that she loves her Nikolai as much as he loves her...some may call it a form of Stockholm Syndrome...but I choose to call it true love...even when he 'allows' (c'mon...we are talking about Nikolai here...and he is far from perfect) her to just be 'young' with her friends...he is never far from her thoughts...they've both become to depend on each other's companionship...and perhaps she see potential in him similiar to what her mother saw in Jacob...

Sergei...*sighs*...how many times does Sunny have to tell him that they are...never will be...cannot be...and will always be NOTHING MORE THAN FRIENDS...yet he persists in taking liberties with her...giving her that scarf for her birthday...why so personal a gift...especially knowing how Nikolai is and despite the numerous warnings...his future lies with Nadia or someone like her...Sunny's heart is elsewhere...Sergei's fixation on Sunshine has become obsessive and dangerous...he refuses to accept that she's just not into him like that...and nothing good can come from it...

Enjoy your vacation...relax...relate...release, LOL...but above all...have fun...just know I'll be waiting with bated breath until you come back...

Title: Chapter 35: Around the Kinda Misery I Find Part 3

Oh, Onimosity...you bad girl...you surprise me all the time...I feel like such a dummy for prejudging Royce...of all the people besides Jasmine that's given Sunny advice along her path in life...he was the most enlightening...I now understand why she is so reluctant to say 'the words' to Nikolai...not that she doesn't feel it...well, I already knew that...but she really did take to heart Bea Williamson words of 'throwing good love after bad'...and really her relationship with her father proved those stern words to be sage...but it took a stranger to point out the obvious...that Nikolai and Jacob are not the same...love is not something 'deserved'...it just is...and love Nikolai she does...now it's time to tell the man...the old adage of not judging a book by its cover came over in waves during this update...Sunny's prejudgement of Royce because both he and her father were both addicts at one point in their lives...assuming Fritz was the person sent by Nikolai to watch over her when it was Adu all the time...and the metamorphosis of Nikolai from the beginning of this tale to now...the 'sweetness' and unassuming manner of Sergei which may prove to harbor a darkness that is beyond Sunny's comprehension...oh how I love this story...

Yay!!!  Looking forward to the reunion of Nikolai and Sunshine in Paris...the most romantic city in the world...and hopefully, the speaking and acknowledgement of THE WORDS finally...trust and faith Sunny...who knew that she was just as afraid as Nikolai...he with revealing the truth of his life...and her of revealing the depth of the love in her heart for him...can't wait...wonderful update!!!!

Title: Chapter 34: Around the Kinda Misery I Find Part 2

Okay, Royce is giving me the willies...I don't like how he looks at Sunshine...now she's trapped in a safe room...alone...with just him...

Sergei is creepy, too...he doesn't know Sunny at all...his assumption that Nikolai doesn't care about Sunshine's well-being is proof to that fact...there's more to him just below the surface...he is not at all what he presents himself to be...so glad that Sunny is realizing that she needs to be wary around him...

I love that she needs Nikolai's presence to soothe her...I pray that all goes well for her...but I'm almost too scared to read on...but read on I must...here goes...
