Title: Rule #1: When In Doubt, Tell him “No”

LOL! I love Celia! Don't hate the player, hate the game! Really, though, I don't think its as much about games than just having Adam honestly work for it. There is a method to the madness. Why should it be easy for him? Just because he thinks so? Would he repsect her if it was? Probably not. There is merit to that saying about you have to train people in how you want to be treated. And it really can start off with small innocuous stuff like this. If she lets him think its ok to take her time for granted, then that's what will start to happen. It only gets worse from there. Adam learning some manners here won't kill him. That nasty comment he made to begin with proves that.

This part is brilliant and says it all:

A rock star is surrounded by “yes men.”  Yes men are people that will agree with everything he says, do everything he does and worship every inch of the ground he walks on without a moment’s hesitation.  The word ‘yes’ is something that a rock star is expecting before it is even bestowed upon him.  This gives the word “no” the kind of power that has no equal in the rock star’s world.  If you are the only person in his life who doesn’t give him the “yes” he’s become so accustomed to, you will become the only person in his life that he is willing to go that extra mile for. He will work harder for your yes than he will for anything else. You will become a person of value to him—more valuable than everyone else in his life with the exception of his mother—and that’s only because she’s been telling him ‘no’ since the day he was born.

Its all new to Shaun, so I see her nerves with this, but she also has to remember why she's even doing this; or just forget the whole thing right now. Having said all I did before, using her own judgment when it gets too thick won't be a bad thing. There will be more intimate things she will learn about Adam that Celia won't be privy to.

Nice!

I don't know about this strategy.  How will he get to know her to fall in love in  thirty days when she is so distant.  It gives so much credibility to the saying, 'Life is too short'. He is going to have to be a man at some point and take control.

Honestly, I don't know if Adam will forgive Shaun when he finds out. Because he will. I know people forgive each other in stories like this, but in real life, you cut people like that out of your life.

I hate when girls play these games it is so childish men will only put up with so much of these games before they grow tired of it

Great story! I am so happy to see that you have updated. That said, and after reading some of the other reviews, I don't think That Shaun has done anything that can't be undone...yet. I agree with others that Celia's advice is a little suspect ONLY because it was hinted that Celia had been less than kind once, when they were kids. But even with that, I don't believe that Celia's advice to Shaun was wrong. Generally, I agree that saying "no" and being silent are underutilized and can create space/boundaries. At times, it can be a power play..if you are in a power struggle. Here, saying "no" is in line with the rules that Shaun thought of for herself-so it isn't totally inauthentic. But, if she starts saying "no" just to be contrary or argumentative, then that's problematic. Also, we must remember that they will only be together for 3 more weeks; she has to protect her heart. Giving Celia the benefit of the doubt, maybe that's exactly what her advice is and will continue to be designed to do. Afterall, Celia would be the one picking up the pieces of Shaun once this "relationship" is over.

Truly, though, to get me to write an analysis on a story, speaks to the depth of your writing talent (I've been kicked off of another popular interracial story board for not commenting enough). You've created a world where I am all in. I see so many ways this story could spin off to and I'm just happy to go along for the ride- In fact, I'm calling shotgun!

Im loving this story. Alot. And I esp. love Shaun because she comes across as a genuine person, honest....this whole "game" playing thing with Celia as the mastermind behind it is rubbing off of me in a bad way. Yes, he's a rockstar, but he's still human, with fellings. I dont know if its because you're an amazing writer and so Im feeling everying personally (because you really are an amazing story teller) or if ITS JUST ME because Im taking the story so personally.....I dont know....but it wont stop me from reading! Please update!

Adam is growing on me. Looks like he is growing on Shaun too. I am a little suspicious of Celia's intentions.

Title: Rule #1: When In Doubt, Tell him “No”

Great update! But I kind of feel sorry for Adam, he's gonna be so hurt when he finds out the truth, and somehow I don't really trust Celia - is she just being a good friend or has she an ulterior motive..?

This won't end well,  Shaun is developing feelings for Adam and he won't react well to being used to jump start her career.  Thanks for updating!!

Oh Shaun, you will rue the day you listened to Celia. But you are, so let the chips fall where they may. You're playing with him, while he is falling for you. Yeah, he can be a jackass, but he doesn't deserve this.

Thanks for the udate.  I'm liking this but I wonder how she will ever get Adam once he finds out about the article and the deception.   I'm afraid that all of this is going to blow up in Shaun's face.
