I'm side-eying Celia - hard. You know your friend has never worn heels, and you throw her in the tallest sky scrapers on the market? Bad, friend! BAD! Even models rock flats and kitten heels on their off-time!

 

As for Adam? I'm really hoping he learns from this experience, and not bounce back to his old self once his reputation is clean again. That, and gets better pants. Nota fan of men in skinny jeans either (and how do they even manage to sag them?!).

Adam is in denial, he was checking her out when they Celia's office and he's loving her smell now.  He is so gone, he won't know what hit him.  I am not sure how I feel about Shaun's friend Celia, she knows the girl can't walk in heels. Adam is still an ahole I hope that he can redeem himself.

OMG, this chapter was my absolute favorite.  it was hilarious, from shaun constantly tripping to the skinny jeans & $10 words.  i floved every single word!  looking forward to more.  thank you for making me laugh so hard, i really needed that!

Love the first couple of chapters; I can see these two are going to be quite the pair!

Poor Shaun, I feel her pain...I can remember almost breaking my neck in heels years ago when I first started wearing them:)  Oh, the life of a tom-boy...lol...

Oh my god.  I love this.

 

I loooove Yaya! Love her!  She is the perfect Shaun.

And I see this story is gonna have so many layers to it.  The perfectly woven tale. I like that Shaun has flaws and innocence and I hope she doesn't loose herself too much in all of this.  I love the tomboyish side already.

But the way she handles Adam is brillant, though she probably just sees it as her being herself, he sees it as a breath of fresh air.  And the chemistry is definitely there, especially if she didn't notice any of the crazy paparazzi in all that time they were sitting there.

 

I must say I love Celia too.  Rih as Celia?  lol She seems so much more older and mature than Shaun, though.  But I guess that's to be expected since Shaun really didn't live her life as they were growing up because she was uncomfortable in her own skin.

I can't wait until you continue and bring us more of this.

The premise spells out a romanitic comedy, No? I guess It'll be a nice reprieve from Lila's Thunder.

And what of BasketBall Wives???Why is it an issue? I mean I don't want any of them to represent my blackness, Fiction or Reality...but I digress.

No need for a personal email, because I refuse to respond anymore following this post.

 

And my dear Voices I'm so sorry that someone's personal idea of what's a 'real women' to them has to be brought up in your story.  But prehaps it needs to be addressed.

Just because we now live in a society were our waist lines have expanded because of our food choices, sedentary lifestyles, etc, and it appears to be the NORM now because there are more people with those characteristics doesn't make them more or less 'real' than their counterparts.  (And by that train of thought, 100, 75 or hell, 30 years ago, the bigger person would be the less real)

The exact same can be said for those models, since you want to make that an issue here, who are sizes 0 or 1 or 2, they are no more or no less real women.

 

What you're saying is that Voices - because guess what, this is HER story, HER ideas - should make the leading lady be a size 16 just because you feel the majority of women in this world are big.  If you feel that strongly write your own story with your own big leading lady.

 

My comment was simply pointing that out.  Whether I'm a size 2 or 22, I'm still black and still REAL!   This is a fiction site, where authors submit their own ruminations and imaginitive works and if they want to make the people 2 foot 3'' with pink spiky hair that's their own perogative and you don't have the right to say whether or not it's wrong because you don't feel it fits a certain demographic.

No one is paying you to read and no one is paying them to write.  You can respond more if you wish but you will be ignored.

 

 

And voices you still get a 10 because this chapter was kickass and it made me read Lila's Thunder which for whatever reason I hadn't before.  Another great one.  Love Lila too!!

A response to "apathetic_smileyface" and "ladake79" ---maybe I should clarify my point.  A normal woman - average is actually a size 12/14 and up,  Black or otherwise.   Majority of women are not a size 5 or 00 (like my cousin).  Hence the point of the statement.  Which as not only made by me but I felt needed to be pointed out.   I think if he's to be given a 'real' woman or in this case Black woman; she would have be in the 12 and up sizes if you get my meaning.   The fashion plates and we're talking the usual suspect models are size 2's or 0's but it's not often you see a supermodel who's in the 12 or 14 or even 16/18.     I believe Toccara is a 14 or 16 herself.    I will send a personal message to these two posters since both seemed to mention confusion as to the statements made by me and other posters.

Btw.... I dont get some of these comments either.  I am an all black woman myself, and im a size 5. I know that black women have a tendency to be a lil thick, but criticizing that Adam's love intrest wont be a "real" black women beacuse she will be skinny is very biased. Take a look around. All women of all ethnicities come in different shapes and sizes -_-

Sooo confused on some of the comments.

 

A 'normal' or 'real' black woman has to be a size 14 or larger?  So the rest of us are what?  Psuedo black women? 

 

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the chapter even though it's only the first.  And I'm sure I'll enjoy your leading lady, no matter what size she is.  Her hair looks gorg in that banner, btw.

Oh I wanted to clarify my statement.  I said, "more often than not voluptuous" that was in regards to models.  They are not average in way shape or form and if he is to get a Black girl, real or otherwise the normal Black woman is voluptuous.  Which is why I mentioned Toccara.  The most infamous Black full-figured model who's definitely all woman and all Black.  She's hard core and I idolize her.   She's basically you're every day Black woman.  I don't see her as a gorgeous woman but she's as beautiful as any other Black girl I've seen on the street.  The thing is though that is she has a personality that shines through and a body to match that makes her breathtaking. 

Anyway I have yet to read a story with a BBW model that would be fun to watch a model like Toccara she doesn't take shit although she's uber sweet.  I don't think she will be kind to Adam and I wonder what they will do to talk her into agreeing to this.  If it is Toccara---cause that girl has principles.

 

Anyway it's a great chapter and you're a great writer.  I just wanted to clarify my initial statement because it was written incorrectly and without proper punctuation.
