Title: Chapter 2 Henry's Interrogation

What a mess! My two cents...

Henny: I'm sorry, but right now, I'm on Henny's side. This is all so much for her to take in. She's had to deal with the aftermath of Henry and all that came with that, her entire life. That meant, deal with what that meant as far as her very existence, her extended family, and even her mother. Vanessa says these things to Henny like she was some kind of spectator not affected by all of this. She watched her mother essentially withdraw from life because of the events surrounding her pregnancy, which affected her views about men and relationships.  Henny is trying to piece all of this together and STILL deal with feelings of rejection by her father, and her grandparents. Also, the animosity and anger from her mother's family toward her father's family. Remember, these people are all still strangers that not only rejected her mother, but encouraged their son to have her life terminated; which in fact he went along with. Now, for her parents to get on with life, new baby/family and all, like everything is everything is a lot to ask right now considering its only been three months! She's grown and the hard work of growing up with her has been done. Its hard NOT to feel like an outsider right now.

Vanessa: I don't think she's looking at the big picture at the moment. The one constant I kept hearing from her is that she didn't want to be alone (her choice) and Henny was now grown. Her feelings (and Henry's) seemed to be the only ones in front of her at the moment. Maybe that's why she kept repeating that Henny is grown now. Meaning, her feeling no longer have to come first, exclusively. Maybe that ok, except for the fact that this has all been dumped on Henny. She spent Henny's whole life either avoiding, or downright refusing, to talk about Henry to her when the girl asked. Then, Henny does this bone marrow thing and discovers quite by accident, that this man is her father. Remembering still, at this point, little to no information fro her mother. So when Vanessa looks at Henny and says "you knew I loved your father, I told you that on New Year's," pardon Henny that she cant suddenly spin on a dime with that considering she couldn't even get the man's name out of her before! Vanessa mentioned that she could have seen Henny spending time with Henry's father as a betrayal, how? Vanessa slept with Henry and told Henny she needed to get over it because Henry, her true love, is back! All Henny felt, and still feels, is confused by this very abrupt change in behavior. Wondering when all this happened. On its face, the only thing Henny could conclude was that Vanessa forgave and forgot what they all (including Henry because he did go along with it, nom atter the reasons) had done to her, so if Vanessa did, her reaching out to them shouldn't bother her mother either. Now, it amazes me that Vanessa can't see how the news of this engagement and pregnancy, in the face of how she's behaved and the things she said and not said to Henny throughout her life, bothers Henny. Why wouldn't this make her feel like an outsider? Her mother is still young enough, pregnant again by her only love, going to marry him, and have a nice little family life with their new baby. This child will have everything Henny was denied. That may not be altogether fair on Henny's part, but what do you want from her. She's the only truly innocent victim here. All Vanessa sees is Henry and her second shot, and thats all thats driving her now. Whether her behavior and sudden attitude shift is a complete mystery to her daughter, is not entering in the equation now; because Henny is the one being irrational here. Vanessa said that because she already knew how Henny was going to react.

Henry: I see his heart in the matter, but he's only thinking about himself here, once again. All these I'm sorrys after the fact from him are getting tired. He needs to think about what hell he's doing. How the hell can he tell Henny its all ok and she'll always be his first-born when he didn't even know she existed until three months prior. It all isn't going to be instantly ok because he says so. He doesn't know Henny like that yet to make that claim. All of this is being sumped on her and she just has to roll with the punches, I guess. He's making up for lost time, assuaging his guilt, and getting a new baby all at once. Win-win for him, and thats all he sees. Nevermind the first baby may still need a little more time with all of them right now. This is all happening at lightening speed!

Whew!! Good stuff!

Author's Response:

Flikchik:  I love your reviews because you always see the situation from all sides and it sets a fire to my muse and sometimes even bring to my attention things I've overlooked.  I just love it.  LOL

Everything you said about Henny is true.  It is so confusing for her even if she is 22.  It has been her and her mother for 22 years and yes she's seen her mother withdrawn and pineing for Henry even though she didn't know who Vanessa was pineing for.  Now things are coming together for them but not for her.  She doesn't feel that its been enough time for her to adjust to having a father in her life and now she's going to have a sibling too.

For Vanessa, she feels guilty about what happened on New Years even though she knew that she instigated the whole sex thing.  She feels guilty about wanting Henry still, but that doesn't stop her from indulging in her lustful desires.  She wants what she wants and she tells Henny that she's grown now to soothe her guilty conscious.  She knew how Henny was going to react.  She knew, even though Henry didn't.

As for Henry, he wants it all.  He wants Vanessa, Henny and this baby.  He wants his family.  Is he going to get it?  I don't know.  He keeps saying he's sorry because he doesn't know what else to say or to do.  He wants it all to come together, but its not happening at all like he hoped.  He thought that Henny and his father talking was a step in the right direction, but now he sees it all slipping away.

He had backed off from Vanessa and was concentrating on working on his relationship with Henny but it was Vanessa who called him and told him that they could began to see each other again because Henny was bonding with Henry.  She knew that she was pregnant and that was the real reason why she told him that, because she was scared.  Henry was going to stay away from her and work on his relationship with Henny.

It is a royal mess for sure.  More is coming and keep those reviews coming to help my muse figure things out.

Title: Chapter 1 Vanessa's Visit

I knew Henny was going to react that way. She's running on emotions and intense ones at that. Her reactions are that of a young child and undrestandable. No matter how old she is, she is still Vanessa's CHILD and dealing with past hurt as a CHILD. Hence the child-like reactions. Yeah, Henry and Vanessa probably should've taken things more slowly. But the reality is, they didn't. A baby is on the way and they want to be together. They shouldn't have to wait until everyone around them comes around before they do what they feel they need to do. Either folks except Henry and Vanessa's decisions or they don't. Henny will have to deal with it on her own terms and in her own time. The same way that her mother and father have to deal with things on their own terms and time. It's not all about Vanessa and Henry and it's not all about Henny, either. They're all being a bit self-involved. But that's normal.

Anyhoo, I really enjoyed this chapter. Looking forward to whether Henny will realize that her mother can love her and her father and the new baby. Henny has been spoiled by having her mother all to herself for twenty some odd years and now she'll have to share. That's really hard to do.

Author's Response:

You hit the nail on the head Bella.  Henny has had Vanessa all to herself all her life.  She had Henry at her beck and call because she knew that he wanted a relationship with her.  Now she feels all that has been snatched from her, though it really hasn't.  More is coming, probably Memorial Day.

Thanks for the review.

Title: Chapter 2 Henry's Interrogation

Henny is so selfish....hell,i'm not saying bring out the welcoming mat for the man who left but if you are going to give him a chance do it honestly or not at all....

Author's Response:

Henny is spoiled and used to being the center of her mother's attention until Henry came along.  Even then, Henry pursued henny and she fed into that.  Now she feels their attentions will be on each other and the new baby and she'll be left out.  She knows she's being childish, but she can't help how she feels.  More is coming.  Next update memorial day.

Title: Chapter 2 Henry's Interrogation

I understand Henny's reaction to the news, but i don't know if I completely agree with her reasoning for her reaction.  I understand Henny being upset that her mother may be opening herself up for more grief and hurt from Henry because of the past, but she has always loved him and is willing to give him a second chance and at the end of the day, that is her decision.  What I don't understand is why Henny think that her parents will love her less because they want to be together? or how will them having a baby diminish the love they have for her?  She was made in love, even though at the time there were obstacles, the one thing that hasn't wavered is their love for each other.  They may not have been a "perfect" family and Henny may not have known about Henry until 3 months ago, but why can't he get to know her and rekindle his relationship with Vanessa at the same time?

Granted, it is entirely unrealistic to expect those around them to be ecstatic about them being together and I don't think Vanessa's approach of telling Henny that she should move on with her life was the best, especially since it was just the two of them forever and then now their little family is expanding so suddenly.  At the same time, Vanessa deserves happiness, (not saying that Henrietta doesn't make her happy), but she needs companionship and Henry loves her and makes her happy. Vanessa, Henny and Henry need to find some point of understanding in order for them to grow in to their family especially with a new baby coming.  It is evident that time is needed on everyone's part to adjust to these changes.

Author's Response:

Henny is jealous and knows that she won't be the center of attention anymore.  She knows its not right, but its how she feels at the moment.  She didn't say anything when her mother pointed out that if Henry ahd never returned, that the two of them were eventually go their separate ways so to speak because Vanessa expected henny to get married and make her own life.   Truth be told, Henny is afraid to grow up!  More is coming on Memorial Day!

Title: Chapter 2 Henry's Interrogation

I disagree with Henny's behavior. I totally understand that she is a little jealous and all. But she is being VERY dramatic.  And yes, she had seen her mother alone sad and depressed for her all her life. But her mother had plenty of opportunity to move on and find someone else. But she choose not to. And I think that deep down, she was always waiting for Henry to come back in her life. Now that he is back, she wants to be with him and I won't blame her. If Vanessa has forgive him for what he had done to her, who am I or anyone else to stay angry, judge her or disagree with her choice. And frankly its not any ones business. It may be unrealistic and selfish of them for wanting everyone to accept that they are back together and having a baby (who wasn't planned). But the truth is, they don't need anyone;s  accepting. Its their life. And if wanting to do with your life what you want and be happy is selfish, then yes I guess they are. Now Henny is being selfish. She doesn't want her mom and dad to be together because of what her father had done done in the past. No, I think she is being selfish because she won't be the center of attention anymore. She is jealous of her mother because she thinks that Henry wants her mom and not her. She is jealous because they are getting married and she feels left out. She is jealous because they are having a baby, and this baby will have her mom and dad together as a family. Honestly Henny is acting like a child. And Vanessa is right, Henny is a grown woman with her whole life ahead of her. She will fall in love, get married and live her life. Where does this leave Vanessa? What Henry had done to her and Henny is the past was wrong, yes. He had hurt them by choosing his parents instead of them. But Vanessa had decided to forgive him and she is still in love with him. It doesn't make it right, I know. But I always say, I respect your opinion, but I make my own choices.

Author's Response:

You are right in a lot of what you've said.  henny is jealous and she doesn't want to grow up.  She's afraid to love herself and she's used her mother as a crutch as to why she hasn't gotten in her own relationship.

She's worried that she will fall for someone and then be heartbroken so she concentrates on her school work using her mother and grandmother's experiences as an excuse.  Now that Henry has returned and wants to marry her mother plus this baby, the rug has been pulled out from under her.

More is coming Memorial Day and it will be from Henny's POV.  A few surprises for her are ahead.

Excellent job!

Title: Chapter 2 Henry's Interrogation

I think I may be one of the few (if only) one not really supporting the V&H rite now and am totally on Henny's side. I think Vanessa and Henry are all into their long lost love return mode that they aren't really seeing it from other peoples pov. Henny has seen her mother alone, sad, and depressed for 22 years (is that her age), any child that is close with their parent always feel empathy for every hurt their parents has in front of them. Now, here's Henry who never made a move to find Vanessa until after Henny found him, all up on the scene. As her mothers closest confidant is it really any wonder why she reacted like that? Henry chose his parents 22 years ago now after meeting up for only 3 months their getting married and having a baby, I think them wanting everyone's support right of the bat is selfish and unrealistic. I also may be the only one to think that Vanessa was a lil bit underhandedly hash to Henny, she basically said that now that Henry and her are together and getting married that she has her life and Henny should just live her own. 22 years can change a person, I just wonder if their really in love with each-other or the memory of each-other

At this point I really do want Henny and the others to back away and let the happy couple wallow in their joy

Author's Response:

Henry knows that he has an uphill battle with Vanessa's family because of the past.  He had hoped that Henny would be more accepting of the situation since they have been trying to get to know each other.

Henny is afraid of growing up.  She knows that her parents love each other and she's happy about that, but she used her mother as a crutch not to become involved with someone herself.  She kept telling herself that her mother needed her so that's why she avoided relationships in the past.

Now that her excuses has been removed, she doesn't know how to move forward and that scares her.

As for Vanessa nd Henry, they know that they can't get those years back that were lost.  Neither of them have loved anyone else, so they want to try again.  The baby just sealed the deal.

More is coming and the next one will be from Henny's POV.

Title: Chapter 2 Henry's Interrogation

Wow, I never expected Henrietta to be so selfish. What a bitch. Excuse my language but she really is acting like one right now. She is jealous of her own mother. She should be happy that her parents are getting married. She is acting like a spoiled brat.  If she was a child I would have understand. But she is a grown woman. I would have thought that she would understand that her mom and dad loves each other. Instead its like she wants her dad only for herself. How ridiculous is that. She should be happy that she is not my child because I would have give her some nice slaps across her face to get her strait up. I don't even feel sorry for her. I mean I can understand that she is jealous because of the baby, because he or she will get to be born and raised in a real family unlike her. But for Henrietta to behave all dramatic like this is uncalled for. Vanessa should let her in her pity party and live her life. If Henrietta  wants to act like a spoiled brat, then let her. She is being selfish and ridiculous.

Author's Response:

Henreietta is just spoiled and she's used to controlling everything.  She was the center of her mother's life for so long, and now she realizes that Henry will be that center.  She knew that it might happen, but it happened quicker than she anticipated.  She liked having Henry to herself with him trying his best to win her back.  Now she feels that he'll be concentrating on Vanessa.

She is really afraid to grow up.  As long as her mother was single and alone, she felt that Vanessa needed her and used that as a reason not to get involved with anyone.  Now that excuse has been taken away.  She's afraid of being hurt.  Who isn't, but that's part of being in a relationship.  It's something you can't really control.  If it works, it works and if it doesn'.t well you move on.

Henny is going to meet up with a love interest real soon and all her carefully constructed excuses will come tumbling down.  LOL

Thanks for your reivew!

So glad to see these two back.  Hopefully when Henny finds out about the baby, she will be supportive, after the initial shock wears off.  As for grandma, I think Minnie needs to have a little chat with her, for treating her grandaughter so badly.  Maybe her husband will finally man up, and stand up to her, let's hope. Can't wait for your next installment Brenda, just love them so keep them coming.

Title: Chapter 1 Vanessa's Visit

Hmm...well...ok. I still feel pissed about Henry and his parents treatment on their behalf, but I guess things need to move on. Because Henny looks so much like his mother, Henry's father is suddenly all in now? What about Vanessa? She's still Henny's mother, the one they treated so horribly. I personally think he should apologize to Vanessa, while he's getting to know his granddaughter like its all good. I'm surprised Henny didn't insist on that as well. Whatever positive things he may think and see in Henny, its all due to Vanessa, thank you very much!!

Yes, I know, the title is "Building Bridges." LOL!

Good work!!

Author's Response:

Yes, Henry's father always went along with whatever his wife wanted...until now.  Henry is hesitant to bring Vanessa around and Vanessa is reluctant to go and visit Henry's parents.  But there will be a faceoff in the future.  LOL

Henry's father reached out to Henrietta and she decided to give him a chance, because she gave his son a chance.  She hasn't been won over by either Henry totally.  She wondered from the beginning if her father just wanted to get back with her mother.

Yes, we're building bridges and I will say that Henrietta is still cautious with both father and son.  Will this news be a set back for her?  Well you'll have to wait and see.  LOL
