I started reading the story and stopped where the three black guys approached Billy and Paris, but Big Willie saved them. I thought I can't do this racism thing, but I eventually came back to the story because you were posting so often. I'm glad I did. I loved it. I loved how Charles became a better person. I loved how Billy was a man who knew what he wante and wasn't afraid to go against the grain. You got me lookimg forward to the 80's and 90's.Reviewer: VeMo Anonymous [Report This]

I hope that Paris' condition gets better and that Billy sticks it out long enough to pay off his college tuition. Hopefully he can get some revenge on this firm by moving on to a bigger and better law firm and taking away clients who do think progressively. I look forward to reading about the 90's because the 80's were still hard on interracial couples in the South.Reviewer: charly43 Anonymous [Report This]

You Mrs. Brenda are exquisite. I love your stories and you always always always deliver the goods. This is a beautiful story. I love that they commited to each other & held each other to their promise, truly forsaking all others. Not sure of your intentions but I'd like to know what happens when the Westons finally are in the same place, after billy finishes school, how they navigate the social climate especially in the South and of course a baby would be good :). Thank you for sharing your gift.

Hi Brenda, I know that you research thoroughly as the events are accurately written...and now that you've lived in that era then it just adds more authenticity. For me, I was mostly hinting at an epilogue again...like I would love to read about their lives years later and with my saying "I'd like to think that as time goes on people in that decade became more tolerant"...was me thinking that by 1975-1979 things were getting better with race relations. I didn't grow up in the era but I sometimes romanticize the 70s...I just think it was cool decade, lol. I also know someone who grew up in that same era that you did...and was asked out on dates by white men (I don't know what year this was ) and of course this person politely declined.
LOL I graduated in 1975. It was a wonderful time. I made friends with some white girls while in high school but I really thought that white guys weren't attracted to black girls because the black guys would talk to white girls, but not the other way around. From what I read in later years, white guys back then didn't think that black girls wanted them either. LOL
I probably will do an epilogue on the story. I've gotten a lot of postive response from this story.
I've always wanted to write a story that was during civil rights/jim crow era. I may do another later.
Now I must admit that my sister dated and later married a white guy and I can't begin to tell you the grief that they caught, but he didn't help matters either but that's another story for another day.

Great story. But id hate to see things blow up for Billy and Paris as he told his dad to say he went home with Rob while Janie has already seen Rob and knows he (Billy) went away on his own.
True, but Janie's a bit distracted now....lol and she might not think about that. Thanks! More is comingReviewer: sasis Anonymous [Report This]

Charles and Janie deserves each other! Janie will think Charles is her meal ticket to the big life. Hope he knows that what he plans for her, will turn around and hurt him, two losers, deserves each other!
Yes they do deserve each other and they'll get just that! Thanks for the review!Reviewer: Serenity Anonymous [Report This]

I was just wondering who was the guy you choose to be billy. And great chapter
I wanted black and white pix to set the tone. The guy is Chord Overstreet. (It was hard finding a black and white of a blond with a bowl type hair cut sixties looking) The girl is Marsha Hunt and her pix is from the 60s I think. thanks for the review!Reviewer: Toya23 Signed [Report This]
