Awe!  Savannah is ADORABLE!!!  She could totally pass as Camille and Hiram's kid. Hiram should've melted at the sight of something so precious that he helped to create. His stank has mammy should rot in you-know-where as should all her backward thinking cronies!

I wonder if Hiram will acknowledge the fact that he does have black ancesters and that he will make the proper changes to avoid any wrong doing to his daughter because she was born of his love for her mother. 

I know that Camille and Hiram will fall in lust if not love, how will they survive in the south because it seems that mixed couple is not accepted.

Camille's dark skin is kind of chocolaty not coal.

Savannah a mystery. Are you sure there ain't nothing hiding in Hiram's family tree. This is the south after all. And people have been known to pass.

To answer your question yes there is. I've decided to have an ancestor in Hiram's family who was black or at least had 

some black blood. However these black features have skipped a couple of generations through the white members of 

his family and have shown up in his daughter. I'm using Savannah's features as a device for irony that the Whitfields 

Klan members yet thier granddaughter looks biracial even though both her biological parents are white.

Great update! Thanks for answering my concerns! :-) I'm so glad that Camille's got her eyes open, even though she's optimistic. Hiram needs to get his act together, coz if he's living just above subsistence level, maybe Camille has a shot at keeping Savannah? Will she get some legal advice?

It hurts my heart that Camille's life started off with rejection.  But she was lucky and love found her twice. She loves Savannah, i sure that Hiriam falls in love with her and that falls in love with him so that she doesn't lose Savannnah. Good stuff!!

Great chapter!  LOL at the thought of those Whitfields having black blood.  However I don't think Hiram can actually take Savannah since the adoption is final.  She could fight that.  Since he still has rights, they would have to share custody just like if she's the birth mother unless she's proven unfit.  Camille needs to have her own lawyer.

Wow, this story is deep! It shocked me to see the word "nigger" being used so easily. But, I understand why. I think this story has a strong under current of how the two adults will have to learn patience, acceptance, gain strength, understanding and love!

i was wondering, why hasn't Camille moved? For Savannah's sake? At least tell me she was job-hunting.  Sure, the co-parenting will put a damper on things, but nurses are in demand most everywhere! Btw, who cares for Savannah when Camille is at work, and why do those gossipy rednecks think she isn't a proper nurse?

Also I am not too clear on one point: will the adoption be revoked after that year? Or will they share custody, like a divorced couple? Hiram seems to believe he'll get his daughter back, and that will be the end of it. So he's in for a wake up call, LOL.

All the same, you have the ducks nicely lined up in a row... It's going to be interesting to see how it all works out... Looking forward to his first unsupervised visit with Savannah and nappies and feeding, heehee.
