I'm now tracking this because I'd forgotten how good this story is.
Wow..this just puts me in that whole HS frame of mind. Its a blip on the radar in reality, but some folks can use it to make the lives of others a living hell because they think its the end all, be all. It matters how you treat people. It matters who you surround yourself with. Your overall walk matters because in the end, its all that people remember. Not all that HS bulls**t.
Marva was just an awful human being in HS, and she probably can't even believe she behaved that way. Now, she can't even stand to be around people like she used to be. Now, all she remembers is what a creep Ronnie was, how kind Lamar was, how fake Amber was, and how genuine Rick was. Even Rick; only recalled how Lamar never bothered him. But again, the people you surround yourself with. Thats not what Lamar wanted Rick to remember, or hold against him. Life is teaching Marva what is really important, and not in the best way either. But hey, you have to reap what you sow. However hard that may be. She's not completely innocent either. Now, she knows the importance of how you treat others, and she's extremely careful about who she surrounds herself with these days.
I wonder what its going to be like when she and Rick meet up again. I think Rick is still Rick. Marva might surprise him, though.
This is such a good story, with so many levels and nuances. Not a simple HS story at all. Its gritty, real and its a pleasure to read.
High school....what a trip!

I am glad she's moving out though, and for all the reasons she herself mentioned. It's time. However, I don't want her to be reckless with her life just to prove a point.

Hmmm....this was an interesting chapter, and an interesting setup. Lots of moving parts...
First, as Gabe and Luke was talking: I was thinking along the same along lines as Mina. Before you assume that she can't handle the Dom lifestyle, try her! Talk it over with her and get her take on things. She might be a freak with it too! I kept thinking, how do you know she'd hate it unless you ask her about it? This is a woman he's going to make his wife, so she deserves that much. I confess, I don't know a thing about the lifestyle, but I'm thinking this a reasonable course of action to take with your intended. After all, no one is strictly born a Dom or Sub, right? I'm taking for granted it's something that's basically cultivated if one has natural tendencies toward it. And while I think she should be planning to storm off after her party, I don't think it's out of line that she's insulted by this. They basically called her a weak mindless idiot. Suggesting that she would do something degrading to herself as a woman and a person, just to please what she would consider to be her man's depraved notion of sex. Really? She's not that sheltered. And she has ears, eyes, and a brain to reason things out.
Gabe: I just think he truly cares and he doesn't want her ambushed. That comment about how 'we'll have nothing' did throw me off a bit, I have to say. And he perhaps does seem a little too interested, but in the end, I think its brotherly, not romantic.
Christina: She's baffling me completely. I want to know what happened to her? Randall mentioned earlier that she was more or less projecting her own family issues onto Luke and Mina. Luke in particular. My problem is, she raised this young man, but she's acting like he's some kind of sexual deviant who Mina should be afraid of. She's acting like a person she doesn't know and who should maybe be locked up. That sounds extreme, but look at what she just did. We don't exactly what it was, yet, but she seems to almost fear for Mina's life! She was clearly traumatized in her life and was it by Randall? He doesn't seem like it, however, his three sons are into the lifestyle, so was he the one that introduced it to them? I don't know, but something happened to her.
And yep, I know I was whining for more. I make no apologies for it...lol!

I can do nothing but respect the hell out of Lucas for this. That wasn't even about him and he took a backseat because he already knows what he wants and what he's doing. This is about making sure that his woman knows without a nanosecond of doubt, who she is, who she is to him, and what she means to him. He's right, if Mina doubts for in a second, those harpies around them will make mincemeat out of her. He knows this because he's older and his past is his past, and his world is what it is, he can't change it. And Mina's younger and inexperienced. Those sharks would smell that and try to destroy her belief in herself, and, therefore, him to make it together as a couple and future spouses. Because, make no mistake, Luke's endgame here is nothing less than marriage. Mina never was some plaything to him.
Now that he's come out and claimed her, and has had a taste, those heifers are no more. He won't be giving any of them the time of day from now on! For real, Lucas is a catch, and they want him. However, he was only placating himself with them while he was biding time for Mina. He's sees the trouble up ahead and needs Mina strong emotionally and psychologically, with absolute faith in him, and them together, to deal with it. With the type of personality they each have, I could see them together destroying a whole gang of hoochies stepping up to them...lol!
We need another update real soon here..lol!

You really get what i was going for in this chapter. It was all about explaining why Luke wouldn' t take what she offered him at the beach and going more in depth about his plan to claim his woman. I always wondered what happened to Cinderella after she gets the Prince. Unless she had a hell of a back bone and a rock solid relaitonship with the Prince, there can't be a happy ending.
Mina is going to learn to stand without the power of the Spauldings. She has a voice but needs to get used to using it to withstand a Dom like Luke.

You need to hurry the Mina and Luke love night up now! We've had more than ample build-up about these two. I feel like I'm gonna explode if they don't bust a nut already....lol!

Luke just needed to tell Mina, and even though needs to probably go into more depth, he got the initial conversation out of the way. He was honest and sincere about his feelings for her so she wont have to wonder. Mina was honest about her feelings to him, and responsive to what he laid out so far. So good! Luke really doesn't need a doormat as he said because what good does that do him. He needs a strong woman to stand up to the crap she's going to get just being his woman and Mina has indicated she could met that challenge. Good!
On the flip side, Mina is gonna have to do the same, and I think, soon. People want other people dead so.....
This was a good chapter.
I know Mina needs to come clean of this could lead to disaster for them both. The most important thing is to establish a trust relationship. Luke reached out to her and I think it's interesting that he knows she's holding back from him.
I was a little surprised by his restraint in demanding know everything immediately.
But yes, people are going to die. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Luke and Mina will make it.

Luke needs to get a hold of himself here. If Mina cant interact with people or have other (men) touch her with affection or casually (with her permission), that's going to make for a hellish kind of life with him. Now he's already said he only wants to be the Dom in the bedroom, so what's the problem.
