Well, let me just say that Brody can have as much "fun" as he wants with me when ever he wants it. This was a nice calm fun chapter after the intense ones we have had. Glad to see that Brody and Alex are opening up to each other and they both seem to know what the other needs. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Awww, Alexa almost freaked herself out thinking she did something that she would never be able to live down. Until she say the face of the one person that seems to always be able to comfort and protect her. These two have a connection that comes from the same place. When Brody told her he talked to Aiden and that he read him to sleep my heart nearly leaped out of my chest. Can't wait to see that conversation between Aiden and Alexa. I am glad he was open and honest with Alex because he needs to not shoulder his condition on his own because that's not good for his heart either. But hopefully sooner or later he will tell his family and then they will finally understand why he can't go into business with them. Very intense chapter. The fact that Elena doesn't want to see or hear the pain the was inflicted on Alex tells me all I need to know about why she keeps putting herself in the situation with that douchebag that calls himself a man. She doesn't see the affects that that "relationship" and I use that word loosely has on her son because if she did, I truly think Elena would loose her god damn mind. Its why she does the drugs, its not because she doesn't care, but to escape from caring, from feeling, from dealing with not only what happened to her sister but what is going on with her son. Elena is a complex character she is one of those characters that needs to put the blame on someone else because in order for her to survive, she has to feel absolutely nothing. I think maybe if she decides to go and gets away from the life that she has put herself in because she is punishing herself she might be able to deal with what happened to Alex and get her sister back. You know sometimes its not as simple as we think it is Elena carries a lot of blame that she can't deal with so she lets that dude beat on her, torment her, because how do you face yourself when you can't protect your family? You don't.
Alexa I have one hope for you, because Brody was open with you about you being the only one that knowsd about his heart. And you wanted to protect him and it. Maybe its time you show him the scars that you possess. Maybe he might surprise you and still love you because he knows what its like to have you in his life and he knows what its like not to. And maybe you both can cure that empitiness in side yourselves and each other. But you need to be honest and stop fearing that he will see you like you see yourself damaged.
I truly appreciate the fact that all the characters in this story are damaged in one way or another, because when they heal and find themselves and begin to love them selves and each other, it's going to be that much more.

Whoa so much here to work through :D I love how you speak about the layers here. Elena is truly damaged and that need to numb you speak about definitely makes sense for her. She seemed to be okay for a while when they were younger but as soon as things get hard she defaults. Alex does things like that too. Shuts down.

Because they know something is but not what and they can only assume that its because of Alex, not because he is afraid to tell them that he is sick. They love him and he loves them but he needs to open his mouth and at least tell his Gram if no one else. He and Alexa have that in common they both think they can keep these life changing things to themselves when it is slowly eating them up. It's truly taking away from their happiness and because of that I feel like hugging and slapping the two of them in the back of the head.

Alexa's nightmares about her attack and rape,she wants to be so strong for everyone else that her mind and body are trying to get her to pen up about it. Dreams or nightmares to me tend to mean that said person having them is in some type of turmoil. That they need to open up about it because the sooner they do and free themselves of it the better they will be able to deal with it. I understand that Alexa feels like she can't talk to Brody about it because her sister knows and look how she has reacted to it. But her sister is a special breed and so is Brody.
Aiden's night terrors, at 10 this little boy has gone through so much that he needs to just be able to be a child. Joe is the only one that has always been there, Joe is the one he most likely tells his secrets too, and Joe in a sense protects him from all the bad things. And maybe just maybe being on Gram's farm will help him open up and express himself and be heard. Maybe just maybe he will begin to feel safe and not have the night terrors.
Elena isn't it a shame that the poor woman has to get high just to sleep. Her demons must be on her ass at night the most and that is the only way she can survive clossing her eyes. Hopefully she too will be able to open up and find some type of peace.
Brody, doing hard labor just because he is afraid to tell his Gram about his heart condition. What if something happens to him and his Gram blames herself. He needs to stop thinking he is 'protecting" his family and start thinking that he is harming them and himself by not telling them.
Everyone in and their damn secrets would rather have those secrets eat them up alive rather than be free of them. They seem to think that by 'handling" it on their own they are protecting everyone but all they are really doing is harming themselves and those they claim to love. I think when that turning point happens, and its going to happen real soon that Alexa will get Brody to open up to his family. Brody will get Alexa to open up to him. Elena will break when she hits rock bottome and deal with, and feel so much that that might just be the break through that Aiden needs to open up about his night terrors as well. And I think the one person that will be the turning point for all of them is Gram, the woman that keeps her family going with love, support, and understanding.
Now I wonder if Alexa will stand up and be straight with Brody about him doing all this manual work when its not good for him or will she just turn inside herself even more. Time will tell.

When the chapter first started all I could think was I hope these two stop avoiding each other. And they did. Alexa let Brody see her soul in this chapter. She let him see the pain, the hurt, the abandonment, and so much more when she opened the wounds of the past to him. I have to say when Brody told her that he tells his family everything, I wanted to pop him in the back of the head because he hasn't told them about his heart. But at the same time something tells me that Rose already knows. Like she knows just how much Brody can do without having him go overboard. But I will wait and see just how much Rose knows.
I loved the fact that Aiden can breath being there at the farm. It seems like the more he hangs with Brody and Rose the less he needs Joe because he feels safe. But Elena seems to take that safety away from him with her presence. I wonder if she realizes that and that is why she fights with Alex so much over "being his mother" bevaise she knows that Alex makes her own child feel safe. Elena needs to open her eyes and stop blaming and punishing Alex for the decisions that she has made.. Nathan is a monster and he continues to haunt not only Alex's dreams but Aidens. When is she going to realize the damage that her choices are inflicting on those that she supposedly loves.
I am so glad that Alex decided to put her fears aside and open up to Brody because I think they both needed it. If she is willing to open herself up to him, maybe it will help him open himself up to his family and tell them what is going on. I know Bordy wants to protect everyone but who will protect him from himself? I guess Alexa has appointed herself his protector. Which Brody needs because I don't think he always understands his limits. I am just glad that these two have connected on a much deeper level now. Because I think they both need that connection more than they need anything else. With this connection maybe Alex will feel like she deserves to be happy, maybe she will stop running from herself, and maybe she will feel safe. And for Brody maybe he will stop running from himself, maybe he will stop thinking once he tells his family the truth he will become a burden on them, and maybe just maybe he will learn to relax.
I am truly glad Alex picked herself over her sister for once. Because I think Brody opening up about his mom and how she left her made Alex understand that she will be OK no matter what she tells him. (Look at me rambling again.LOL)

Haha! It's totally okay with me. I love the ramble! I guess Brody tells his family mostly... everything. Everything but this and it's killing him. Sigh... our boy needs to come to terms with something soon. It's a growing process but he will make his way!
And there has been so much change in Aiden, right? He's starting to come out of his shell a bit and that's helping Alex as well. She's able to let herself have something good (Brody). It was only a matter of time for these two ^.^
And with Elena the tides area about to change. You can only hide for so long from your problems and she's about to learn that. Brody too. I love how you said Alex was his protector. It's so true! A man will never stop to take care of himself. They both need each other!

To Alexa finally telling her sister the emotions she went through while being sexually assualted by that douche. To Brody wanting to tell Hayden but stopping himself from to Elena not only slapping Alex but running from her. The turmoil that Brody must be going through is so much that I ache for him. On one hand he seems like he wants to tell his family but on the other his pride won't let him. Like they will pitty him when in essence they will love him through this. And maybe that is why he stays away because he knows if he is near his family and interacts with his family he will tell his family about his condition. I just hope something makes him tell them because in his heart he knows that pitty will be the last thing he will receive from them.
Alex finally told her sister everything, every detail, every feeling, and every emotion and what does she get from it? Elena's denial, Elena needs to blame Alex because if she doesn't see will have to face herself in the mirror and we all know she aint ready to do that because lets be real she thinks Alex is taking everything from her when in relatity Elena is punishing and pushing those out of her life that love her and keeping a man around that could give two shits about about her because its her punishment.
I hope Alexa doesn't go after her sister, I hope she lets elena deal with her own shit. Because I think that is one of the reasons Alex has been so closed off is because she never opened herself up. She keep everything buried because her sister couldn't deal. Well Elena is going to have to deal and it will have to be on her own terms what Elena does will have to be because she wants too not because Alex or Aiden need her too.
Got to love the fact that Hayden thinks Brody is not being himself because of a girl. But I feel even more in love with Bordy when it didn't even take him a minute or a blink to confess his feelings for Alex.

I think if Brody is just like his father he will have to be pushed to his limit before he tells them about his health. I think Alex opened his eyes to wanting to tell them, its why he found himself at his father's house but I am not so sure if its pride keeping him from telling, I feel like its fear. Brody has always been the protector of sorts, the one that made them do what they needed to do, the one that was able to handle the load. He created his identity from that, and if he looses that he thinks he will loose himself. That he won't know who he is without being that person that they have depended on him to be. That's why he froze from telling his father. Maybe if he saw himself as more he would be able to realize that they won't see him any differently, that they know who he is in his heart.

the converstaion that Brody and Alex had in the car made me happy that Brody was ready to tell his family the truth and begin his own healing process. The fact that he got that emotional stability from a converstaion of silence between his father and him was a huge step in the right direction. It shows that even though he feared how his family would see him that he so wanted to tell them. He just needed to be pushed a little.
So I am glad that Alex went to see Elena and I am so glad that she found a little peace in her relationship with her sister. They both needed it, they both need to heal. And the fact that Elena was taking control of her life is a big, and major step. They hand a huge break through. I'm glad that Alexa decided to let Elena see Aiden because in order for Aiden to heal as well he needs to see his mother like he has never seen her before, clean, sober, and healthy.
I love the relationship that Brody and Aiden have. That little boy shouldn't trust a man because of what he has seen when it comes to his mother and Nathan. But he has a smile for Brody because he can trust him. The swing scene was so sweet and the fact that even though still carries Joe with him but he doesn't depend on him because he has Brody now. The little shit that took his Joe should be slapped but I was glad to see that Aiden didn't cry he got Joe back and moved on.
Now this is where you had my heart beating outside my chest Brody see the car speed up and saw that it was Nathan and all he thought about was protecting Aiden since he was still to close to him and Nathan would have to take him out to get to Brody. But Brody being a protector he put his body in line of getting hit and protecting Aiden. Hopefully seeing this doesn't send Elena back to the drugs, and hopefully both Aiden and Brody will be OK. But when Brody's family finds out Nathan better hope the cops find him before they do.

This chapter was very needed. It was like a weight was lifted off of Roxie's shoulders and even though she and her dad didn't talk through everything the line of communication was open. I was glad he was honest with her and he told her what she needed to hear. He was the only one that could tell her that. He took responsibility for his action and that to me was a step in the right direction.
Rich was a douche and he needed to be punched in the face. But I can't believe Mickey was so scummy. I guess that is the price you pay for being an agent I thought he really cared about Griffin and Roxie and I guess he fooled us all.
Not Poppa, I hope Roxie gets to griffin soon because there is only so much he can take. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Its interesting to read the other comments and see how pissed off they are at Roxie. But for me I can't be pissed off at her, I feel like Roxie feels "safe" with her father. He might have abandoned her when she was growing up but he is always there for her when she needs him. And right now she feels like she is ruining Griffin, she feels like she is taking away his dream and she doesn't want to be the cause of that. It might seem selfish but in her head she left for Griffin, she left to save him, and maybe she thinks by staying away she is helping him as well. But since we have only seen this from Griffins stand point and what he is going through we know that not to be the case.
Griffin is slowly dying because here is this woman he loves with all his heart and he feels he has failed her, he feels like he took something from her to follow his dreams. And maybe thats the problem. They were so focused on the things that made each other happy that they lost sight of each other. And maybe this time apart will give them what they need.
But I think both Roxie and Griffin need to stop thinking they failed each other because they haven't, their love requires so much moe for them that they just need time to heal. I will say that at least Roxie could have done was called Griffin even if it was from a pay phone or sent him a letter from a different state letting him know that she was OK. Because leaving a note with 'I'm sorry' doesn't do much for the heart or the head.
I kinda figured she would go to her father because lets face it you can't fix the issue until you face the problem and being with her father is facing one problem, hopefully she is able to fix her head so her heart can be free again. But I guess until that happens, Griffin will just have to hold on to the fact that he knows where she is and that she needs this time. Hopefully not a lot of time because as she is getting better from afar, Griffin seems to be stumbling into a depressive state. And unlike some I don't need him to punish her, because he is punishing himself enough. He loves Roxie so strongly that he aches. But I have hope because she didn't leave her engagement right with the note so I have hope for them.

Hopefully Roxie gets stronger and understands that love demans so much of us that we can't pick an choose what parts we give and what parts we hold back. I hope Claire tells her that for nearly 2 weeks Griffin had no clue where she was and actually had the cops out looking for her. I hope that Roxie gets out of her own head to understand that the person she chose to love loves all of her, the good, the bad, the ulgy. The reason he feels responsible is because that is who his Gram and Pop raised him to be, they raised him to love with his whole heart, if her demons hadn't scared him, away in College they most certainly aren't going to do so now.

I had to work very hard not to bust out laughing at work while I read this. I swear Diya's father is so god-damn crazy that it's hilarious for words. I mean here Diya is trying to hold on to her relationship with Brandon because her father will do and say anything to get his little girl married off to the man of his choosing. And he is seeking "outsourcing" help from the great beyond to find said man and wanting to drop 7 grande like it's cump change to make it happen and I can do not to wet myself is giggle. Diya your chi is messed up because you have allowed your father to have so much control over your life and who you can love that it is ass backwards.
When her father fins out about Brandon I am going to need to be in the privacy of my own home where I can be free to bust out into laughter because either the man will have a heart attack or he is going to loose his shit and be committed.

William is a fool. He has the mistaken belief that Diya is an innocent who needs his protection and help in finding a mate, and he's willing to do anything to ensure she gets it. That poses a huge problem for Diya and Brandon. But it's so fun to write.
Diya doesn't really give her father control over her life. Just the illusion of it. She pretty much does what she wants. She just hides it from him. Not the most productive, healthy behavoir, but I think you'll appreciated why she thinks it's necessary as the story progresses.
The next couple chapters are light on the NSFW content. After that, I can make no promises ; )

There is just something about Diya and Brandon that I can't put my finger on that makes me root for them. These two have so much history and baggage that it amazes me that they can find what they need in each other and trust it. With that said I love how one minute they try so hard to not say what they feel and I. The next can't help but to say it. These two are so trying hard for this relationship to work that they make it harder on themselves because they are afraid to loose it.
Im glad that Brandon seems to be very much in tune with Diya just about as much as she is with him. Marisol what can one say about her? It's not that I don't like her nor can I say I don't trust her, I think it's I don't know her. I mean she seems to really care about Brandon but not so much about her own self safety. Because it's dark and Brandon tells her to wait for someone to walk with her and she thinks just because it's around the block walking by herself is smart? Hmmm not so much. But she is grown. And Brandon feels responsible for her and now that this has happened I think even more so. I won't assume to know if he will blame himself for not checking to make sure someone went with her. I won't assume to say he would have walked with her if Diya wasn't there but what I do know is you Joelle left me hanging... So hopefully we find out soon how this plays into Diya and Brandon's relationship.

Your assessment of the characters is spot on. Fear of lossing one another drives both Brandon's and Diya's reticence and their candor. Marisol and her intentions are still a bit of a mystery.
