Nichelle was the original Uhura, she made her role classy. I admired both women: Nichelle was the first black woman that I admired on TV, she was a milestone to TV and the world. I know she had to overcome racism during that time, and she did with dignity. Knowing that Dr. King supported her when she wanted to quit, inspired Nichelle to stay, Plus it was King's favorite show. Her staying, demonstrated that black people were more than just slaves, but pioneers and intelligent. I always saw Uhura as the only strong woman on the show, she didn't fall for guys like the other women yeomans, or officers in episodes that held others' lives at bay. LOL. Her job was important, and she did it well. She was the one who solved or contributed to solving the problem.

The Uhura character became my muse for all my stories. I was encouraged that she could have it all just like her counterparts in the series. The Abrams timeline Uhura proved that, and created the most beautiful love story with Commander Spock. So, now my heart is heavy, Uhura's character will continue to grow and inspire other women of color to be more than conquerors.

This story is another form of a love relationship, that I picture the starships as female battle roman/greek warriors. After all, the 12 Constitution-class ships in Star trek are considered Battle-cruisers.

Some class reunions are joyous and some are disastrous. Let us go back to when Nyota and Charlene met up with some difficult former acquaintances.

I like Samuel Boma; he is a very handsome black man on the TOS. He is intelligent, he is an astrophysicist, and he has a strong sense of compassion. I've read him throughout fanfiction as an antagonist with a fierce desire to have Nyota. But who wouldn't? I have even read in one story that they married. But he is a good foil who enhances Spock's image by comparison and lends a little spice to Nyota's background, making the story of her romance with Spock more poignant. So I wrote a small story on behalf of Boma about his desire to have Nyota. A stand alone story.

I always had trouble watching this episode, mostly the communication between Kollos and Miranda. A lot was missing in this episode, one of why she was jealous of Spock. I watched it multiple times, and I get the logistics of the plot, then I started to like this episode, it covered physical disabilities, gender and overcoming job qualifications.
