He sits on the floor blanketed by dust, chipped paint and years of abandonment and waits. He hasn't to wait too long and soon Beethoven's Appassionata fills the air, the quiet and ominous arpeggios of the first movement, full of longing echoes through his very bones.

There is nothing else in this moment but the beauty of the melody cosseting him into a world unlike any he's ever known. The transition is gradual. Colors creep in from the edges of his vision turning his monochrome prison into a realm of diluted colors. The strains of piano chords ascend and descend skimming effortlessly over complex intervals with dexterity.

It is wondrous. Tints of violets, reds and greens wash over the gray coolness of his vision, giving him the ability to see color. Three months now she's been able to do this. Gift Cyvian with the impossible.

In the ongoing war between Bloodletters and Werekins, demon mercenary Cyvian's allegiance is no one but himself. Title: Chapter 16: Chapter 16 - The Risk of Regression

You're amazing as always! Even though I read this with my heart in my throat, I couldn't help but love it. I agree with my fellow readers though - Anthony has essentially done the same thing to Natalia that Richard did. And I imagine what is most hurtful is that he has made such a big deal of being nothing like his father, yet he craves the same things Richard does: familial acceptance at the expence of anything else. He can try to justify it, but that's what it boils down to at the end of the day.

But, at least he realises his mistake and, unlike his father, it appears to be from a genuine place - not an egotistical place like Richard's regret.

But we all know it won't be easy... and it shouldn't be. Both Anthony and Natalia are steeped in insecurities, which are toxic for an individual, much less in a relationship. They need to deal with those before they can even think about having a healthy relationship. And, at this point, it's difficult to see how they ever will.

But, then again, I'm not the writer, you are, so I'll be looking forward to reading what happens next.

You are absolutely right on all accounts.  Anthony followed in his father's footsteps.  Unfortunately, it may mean that his relationship with Natalia will too.  They're both insecure, and Richard has unknowingly found a way to capitalize on that.  I'm telling this tale, but trust me, your insight is valued and we're on the same page.  They've got a long road ahead of them and an uncertain end.  Thanks for reading and commenting, Carmia Darling!!!

Man, Blake Chandler needs a good woman in his life! Hell, if I could insert myself into this story, I'd try to be that woman for him, LOL! There's just something about him that gets me going!

But, he's right. And I'm glad that Griffin on some level instinctively realised that even before having that talk with his father. I hope though, that those few pointed words, help him to see what's really going on with his Roxie. 

My heart hurts every time I read a chapter, and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's heart-rending, but amazingly enjoyable, so I can't wait to read the next installment!

Thirteen years away from her child. Thirteen years away from her mother... I can't imagine the pain those two have gone through. I can understand Niara's feeling of abandonment on both sides, but there is surely more to the story. I don't know what would drive Cathleen to stay away for as long as she did; I don't think there is ever going to be a good enough explanation, but I want to know just as much as Niara does.
